Half an hour later, Lin Xiaofan stood in the reception room of the rescue station, facing a middle-aged couple with red-rimmed eyes. The man was dressed in a suit, while the woman wore an expensive-looking pearl necklace around her neck. 0

"Mr. Lin!" The woman grasped Lin Xiaofan's dirty hand tightly. "Thank you so much! My father has been missing for three days; he has Alzheimer's..." 0

The man pulled out a thick envelope from his briefcase. "This is a small token of our appreciation; please be sure to accept it." 0

Lin Xiaofan instinctively took a step back; the thickness of the envelope looked to contain at least five thousand yuan. Out of the corner of his eye, he noticed a banner in the corner that read, "Selfless Assistance, Gratitude as Heavy as a Mountain," in shining gold letters. 0

"No, no, I can't accept this money..." His throat tightened. "I just... just bought a bowl of porridge..." 0

"For you, it's a small effort, but for us, it's an immense kindness." The man firmly shoved the envelope into Lin Xiaofan's pocket. "My father was a veteran of the Korean War; if it weren't for you..." 0

His words were interrupted by the ringing of a cellphone. Lin Xiaofan pulled out his phone, and the notification on the screen nearly made him jump: 0

[System Freeze Lifted] 0
[Special Reward: 5000 Yuan Available Funds] 0
[Postscript: Sincere Help Will Bring Blessings] 0

"Mr. Lin? Are you okay?" The woman asked with concern. 0

Lin Xiaofan shook his head as if waking from a dream. "N-no... it's nothing..." 0

As he left the rescue station, his pocket felt heavier with the stuffed envelope, his bank account had increased by 5000 yuan, and his mind was filled with a series of questions. The timing of the system's reward was so precise that it felt as if it had been secretly observing his every move. 0

The midday sun beat down on the asphalt road, making it scorching hot. Lin Xiaofan found himself inexplicably walking into a high-end shopping mall. He washed his face in the restroom and wiped his shirt collar with wet wipes. The young man in the mirror looked haggard but had an unusual sparkle in his eyes. 0

In the central circular plaza of the mall, a group of volunteers wearing blue vests were setting up booths. A banner read "Nutritional Lunch Program for Children in Mountainous Areas," alongside several photos—skinny children holding empty bowls with wide, frightened eyes. 0

"Sir, would you like to learn about our project?" A girl with a ponytail handed him a flyer. "For just 50 yuan, you can provide one child in the mountains with lunch for a week." 0

Lin Xiaofan took the flyer but found his gaze fixated on the QR code on the donation box. His mind raced: if he donated 5000 yuan, at a hundredfold return, that would be 500,000... 0

"What are you looking at?" A cool female voice suddenly interrupted. 0

Lin Xiaofan looked up to meet sharp eyes belonging to a tall young woman dressed simply in a white shirt and jeans, wearing a name tag that read "Project Leader Su Yuqing." Her gaze lingered on Lin Xiaofan's face for several seconds before she frowned slightly. 0

"Sir, if you're planning to donate," she said as she pressed her hand down on Lin Xiaofan's phone just as he was about to scan the code, "please first understand our project details." 0

Lin Xiaofan was taken aback. "I... I just wanted to help..." 0

"Is that so?" Su Yuqing's lips curled into a faint, almost imperceptible smirk. "But your expression looks more like you're conducting some sort of investment evaluation." 0

Suddenly, everything around them fell silent. Lin Xiaofan felt heat rush to his head as buzzing filled his ears. Who was this woman named Su Yuqing to look at him like that? It felt as though she could see right through his calculations. 0

"What do you know?" he lowered his voice, "I just..." 0
The words suddenly caught in his throat. How could he explain? Should he tell her about the miraculous cashback system? Should he admit that he was helping the homeless not out of kindness, but for the rewards? 0
Su Yuqing raised an eyebrow, waiting for him to continue. Sunlight streamed through the skylight of the mall, casting a small shadow beneath her eyelashes. 0
The two stood there in a tense standoff, as if time had frozen. In the distance, soft music floated from the mall's speakers, accompanied by the laughter of a child and the crisp sound of coins dropping into a donation box. 0
Lin Xiaofan swallowed hard. He glanced down at his phone, which still displayed the payment screen. The 5000 yuan reward suddenly felt incredibly hot in his hands. 0
