Wang Wu's confession detonated like a bomb, causing an uproar in our small team. 0

Xie Hanshuang was the first to jump up, pointing an accusing finger at Wang Wu's nose and shouting, "You traitor, Wang Wu! How dare you betray us! You... you... you're just a... a..." 0

Her face turned as red as a ripe tomato, yet she struggled to find a harsher word. 0

I patted her shoulder and comforted her, "Calm down, calm down. When you insult someone, you need to have some artistry. It’s not just about venting your emotions; you need to be logical and reasonable so that people will accept it. Look at you, your face is as red as a monkey's backside." 0

Xie Hanshuang took a deep breath, trying to steady herself, then pointed at Wang Wu and gritted her teeth, saying, "Wang Wu, you... you... ungrateful wretch, heartless beast, utterly depraved, worse than a pig or dog, with the face of a human but the heart of a beast, a disgraceful scoundrel..." 0

She stumbled again. 0

I sighed; it seemed unlikely that Xie Hanshuang would come up with anything more creative. This girl seemed sharp most of the time but fell apart when it really mattered. 0

I turned to Wang Wu and asked, "Wang Wu, do you have anything to say?" 0

Wang Wu lowered his head in silence, looking like a schoolboy who had done something wrong. He occasionally stole glances at me before quickly looking down again; his eyes resembled those of a little hamster caught sneaking food. 0

I pressed on, "What exactly is the Dark Council?" 0

Wang Wu hesitated for a moment before saying, "The Dark Council... is a... mysterious organization... they... they want to... control the entire world..." 0

"Control the entire world?" I couldn't help but laugh. "That goal is just too... grand! Why don’t they try ruling the universe instead? Aren't they afraid of straining their backs?" 0

Wang Wu ignored my mockery and continued, "The Dark Council... possesses... powerful technology... and... biological weapons..." 0

"Biological weapons?" My interest piqued. "Could it be that the Soul Devouring Virus was created by them?" 0

Wang Wu nodded, as if finally shedding a heavy burden; he seemed much lighter. 0

"So it’s true..." I murmured to myself. "I knew this virus was no simple matter. These guys are always up to no good; can’t they do something worthwhile for once?" 0

At that moment, the voice of Zhong Dali came through the team channel, "Boss... we have a situation..." 0

"What kind of situation?" I asked. 0

"I... I found... someone... is approaching..." Zhong Dali said, his tone laced with a hint of panic. 0

"What kind of people?" My heart tightened. "Is it the Dark Council? Those guys are quick on their feet." 0

"I... I don't know..." Zhong Dali replied. "There are... a lot of them... and... and..." 0

"And what? Can you just spit it out? You're driving me crazy!" I pressed him. 0

"And they... are all wearing... strange outfits..." Zhong Dali said, his voice becoming even more peculiar. 0

Strange outfits? 0

I was puzzled. What was this about? Could it be a special unit from the Dark Council? Their sense of aesthetics is truly... unique. 0

I hurried to the window and looked outside. 0

Sure enough, I saw a group of people walking toward us. 0

They were dressed in all sorts of bizarre costumes. Some wore ancient armor, wielding rusty swords as if they had just crawled out of a tomb. Others donned modern military uniforms but wore ridiculous clown masks—who knew if they were on a mission or attending a masquerade ball? There were also those in odd cosplay outfits, including a Magical Girl waving around plastic sticks, a futuristic soldier carrying a cardboard rocket launcher, and even a Sexy Lady in a bikini, draped in a beach towel and holding a surfboard! 0

What… was going on? 0

Was this some sort of post-apocalyptic cosplay contest? These folks really had guts; the world was ending, and they still had time for this. 0

As I pondered this bizarre scene, suddenly, the system's voice echoed in my mind: "Ding! Congratulations, host, you have triggered the hidden mission: New Reinforcements Arrive." 0

New reinforcements? 0

"Are these people... here to join us? System, are you sure you're not joking with me?" 0

A surge of joy filled my heart; this was truly a timely blessing! Although their appearance was a bit... peculiar, as long as they could fight, who cared what they wore, right? 0

I quickly opened the team channel and said, "Zhong Dali, get ready to welcome our guests!" 0

"Guests?" Zhong Dali asked, puzzled. "Boss... are you sure... they are guests and not... enemies? They look like they came to attend a carnival..." 0

"Of course I'm sure!" I replied confidently. "They... are here to join us! The system said so; it can't be wrong!" 0

"But... they don't really look like..." Zhong Dali said, his tone filled with doubt. 0

"Trust me!" I insisted. "I have a feeling! My instincts are usually spot on, except for last time..." 0

I quickly cut myself off; that last prediction was too painful to recall. 0

As the group of oddly dressed individuals drew closer, I finally got a good look at them. 0

Leading the pack was a tall woman clad in a black bodysuit, wearing a pair of black sunglasses. Her long, fiery red hair flowed in the wind, giving her an air of confidence. This outfit stood out starkly in the post-apocalyptic world. 0

"Hello," she said as she removed her sunglasses, revealing bright eyes. "My name is... Thunder." 0

Thunder? 0

That name was indeed... quite imposing! Though it didn't quite match her outfit. 0

"Hello," I quickly responded. "I'm Wei Na, the captain of this team." 0

"I know," Thunder replied. "I've heard of your great reputation. It's said that you have led your team to repeatedly defeat the Dark Council; truly impressive." 0

"You're too kind," I said modestly. "It's just been good luck so far. May I ask... what brings you here?" 0

"We're here to join you," said Thunder, "We heard... you need help... and the benefits are good." 0

"That's right," I replied, "We warmly welcome your joining! As for the benefits... we provide food and lodging, and occasionally you can enjoy fresh vegetables. How does that sound? Not bad, right?" 0

"That's great," Thunder said, "We... will join you now." 0

As soon as Thunder finished speaking, the peculiar individuals behind her began to approach. 0

"Hello, I'm... Iron Man," said a person clad in Iron Man armor, his voice deep and resonant, as if it were coming from a can. 0

"Hello, I'm... Captain America," said another in a Captain America uniform, holding a battered trash can lid as a shield. 0

"Hello, I'm... Spider-Man," introduced a figure in a Spider-Man costume, mimicking the web-slinging gesture but failing to produce any web. 0

"Hello, I'm... Superman," said someone dressed as Superman, his outfit emblazoned with a large "S," albeit somewhat faded. 0

"Hello, I'm... Batman," announced another in a Batman costume, his cape stitched together from two ragged pieces of cloth. 0

I looked at these bizarre individuals and felt my worldview... beginning to collapse. 0

What on earth are these people?! 0
