Cold Ice City, the capital of the Shu Cang Empire, is a place where, despite its name, one cannot find any ice within its walls. Inside the Xiangguo Mansion, Gong Shangnan was busy cataloging his collection, living a comfortable life since the defeat of the Yinzhou army. The lord had not appeared again, and his family had ceased to meddle in his affairs.
"Master, there is a message from the family," a servant announced from outside.
"Read it!" Gong Shangnan replied, feeling annoyed. Family messages usually meant demands for supplies, and he was tired of working for the family in this remote area without receiving any benefits in return.
"Master, this time it’s different. You should read it yourself." The servant handed over a jade tablet. Seeing it, Gong Shangnan quickly took it, realizing that this matter was significant. "Haha! Heaven is helping me! If this works out, not only can I return to the family, but... haha!" After reading the contents of the jade tablet, Gong Shangnan burst into laughter. This was far more reliable than what that lord from Shen Gui Men had instructed him to do.
"Go! Instruct everyone to search for someone named He Er Gou. Remember to do it discreetly. Report back to me as soon as you find him," Gong Shangnan commanded immediately.

Cold Ice City, located at the upper reaches of the Yan Luo River and at the end of the Yun Cang Mountain range, is two hundred Bird Journeys west of the Yan Luo River. It is the closest imperial capital to the Yan Luo River on the Cangyun Continent. Due to its proximity to Yun Cang Mountain, snow accumulates year-round, eventually turning into ice. It is said that Cold Ice City got its name because it is built on this frozen ground, with an endless expanse of the Yun Cang Gobi Desert to the north.
Outside Cold Ice City, Mo Wen sat in a tavern, pouring himself a cup of hot wine. After more than a hundred days of travel, he had finally arrived at Cold Ice City. Along the way, he had learned quite a bit about various forbidden places. To his surprise, although Mo Family's territory was officially listed as forbidden land, it was not entirely off-limits; as Shopkeeper Gao from Extreme Goods Workshop had said, one simply needed official authorization—essentially registering their identity and paying some fees to obtain a token. However, the Shu Cang Empire imposed restrictions on who could enter these places; only martial artists were allowed in and they must be accompanied by an official representative. Those who returned from forbidden lands were never informed about their locations, which was unacceptable to Mo Wen.
"This young brother has been lingering here for several days; could it be that you are here for the forbidden land?" The tavern's shopkeeper sat down across from Mo Wen. Although many customers frequented his tavern, few stayed as long as this young man.
"Oh? How did you deduce that I am here for the forbidden land?" Mo Wen frowned and poured a drink for the shopkeeper.
"Hehe, although Cold Ice City is a national capital, very few outsiders come here apart from Shu Cang people. The only travelers who stay in my humble establishment are either itinerant merchants or those seeking out forbidden lands." The shopkeeper finished his drink and rubbed his hands together before continuing: "You have been here for several days now; with the city gate right ahead and no one coming to seek you out, what else could an outsider like you be doing here? So I surmise you are indeed here for that so-called forbidden land."
"Hehe, your insight is commendable; I am indeed here for the forbidden land. However, I am not very familiar with it and that is why I have been lingering here," Mo Wen replied. The forbidden land around Cold Ice City was not as ominous as its name suggested; rather, it was synonymous with wealth.
