He Jiayue habitually walked to the dining table, ready to have breakfast. However, the table was bare, not even a bowl in sight. He frowned, wondering what was wrong with his wife. Why hadn’t she prepared breakfast? For ten years, she had been as punctual as an alarm clock, never once failing to deliver. 0

“Yizhi, Yizhi, what are you doing?” He Jiayue called out, his voice echoing in the silence. 0

No response came. Only the four walls stared back at him. 0

“Where could she have gone?” He Jiayue mumbled as he searched around. He checked the living room, bedroom, bathroom, balcony, and storage room—everywhere he could think of—but there was no sign of his wife. “Where on earth has she gone?” 0

The shirts in the wardrobe were wrinkled; not a single one had been ironed. 0

“Ah, not even the shirts are pressed! This is unacceptable!” He Jiayue felt a surge of frustration. He dialed Yizhi’s phone number only to find it switched off. 0

Throughout their years of marriage, He Jiayue had never had to worry about household matters. From the smallest bills to buying a new house, everything was handled by his wife. As long as he frowned slightly, she would take care of everything. That was why he had the time to achieve results at the research institute and rise to the position of deputy director at such a young age—a position that wasn’t easy to attain. 0

He Jiayue glanced at the wall clock. Time for work was fast approaching. There was no time to wait for his wife to return. He hastily grabbed a wrinkled shirt and put it on, noticing that his shoes hadn’t been polished either. There was no time to worry about that! He rushed out of the house. 0

At the research institute, He Jiayue felt something was off. Everyone seemed to look at him strangely, as if they all knew his wife was not at home. 0

“Your wife isn’t home, is she?” an old friend asked him while they were in line for lunch at the cafeteria. 0

“Uh? How did you know?” 0

He Jiayue felt a mix of anxiety and an underlying worry. His wife seemed like a different person, cold and distant towards him. Had he done something wrong? 0

He quickly changed his clothes and hurried to Xikou Park. 0

Xikou Park was located near the old city area, where He Jiayue and the Zhao Sisters often played when they were young. However, as the new district was developed, Xikou Park gradually fell into disrepair, and fewer people visited it. Why did his wife choose to meet there? 0

From a distance, He Jiayue spotted his wife's slender figure. 0

She turned her body, her gaze piercing as she looked at him. That was Zhao Yiye's face, a face He Jiayue knew all too well. The soul of Zhao Yizhi resided within that delicate body. 0

Over the years, He Jiayue had slowly adapted to the identities of the two sisters. 0

When they were alone at home, he still affectionately called his wife "Yizhi." To the outside world, Zhao Yiye was still alive, maintaining all of Zhao Yiye's lifestyle. 0

But now, the sorrowful look in his wife's eyes suddenly sent a chill down his spine. 0
