Seeing this, Juhua rushed forward, trying to snatch the axe from his hands. In the struggle, Wei Fan pushed hard. Juhua lost her balance and slipped down the slope into the pond, splashing water everywhere. 0

“Juhua!” Mu Fan shouted, quickly running down to rescue his wife. Juhua floundered in the water, but fortunately, the pond wasn’t deep, and she soon crawled back to the shore. Soaked to the skin, her hair was matted with mud, looking utterly disheveled. 0

“Brother, how could you push her into the water?” Mu Fan supported his wife, anger burning in his eyes. 0

“It was her own clumsiness that caused her to slip. What does it have to do with me?” Wei Fan replied indifferently. “Who told her to speak out of turn?” 0

Juhua trembled with rage. “You... you’ve gone too far!” 0

“Too far?” Wei Fan sneered. “I haven’t even begun to go too far! Don’t provoke me in the future, or you’ll regret it!” 0

Mu Fan held his shivering wife tightly, a mix of emotions swirling within him. He knew his brother’s temper had worsened since he fell ill, but he never expected him to be this unreasonable. Yet, Wei Fan was still his own brother, flesh and blood they had grown up together. 0

“Brother, Juhua is just trying to reason with you...” Mu Fan struggled to keep his emotions in check. 0

Wei Fan spat on the ground. “Stop pretending in front of me! You’d be glad if I died sooner!” 0

“How can you say that?” Mu Fan’s eyes turned red. “You are my brother; how could I think like that?” 0

“Then don’t meddle in my affairs!” Wei Fan hoisted the axe onto his shoulder. “This mountain is mine, and this tree is mine; no one can stop me!” 0

With that, he continued chopping wood, completely ignoring his brother’s pleas. Mu Fan watched his brother’s back, shocked at how his once gentle sibling had become so irritable. 0

“Let’s go,” Juhua said, tugging at her husband’s sleeve, her voice tinged with tears. 0

“Never mind, don’t cry; let him be,” Mu Fan comforted his wife. 0

In the end, Mu Fan compromised. As a younger brother, he couldn’t bear to confront his sick brother directly. 0

Juhua returned home, drenched and with clumps of pond weeds stuck in her hair. She sat on the edge of her bed, tears streaming down her face. 0

"Mom, look at what he did to me," she cried into the phone. "I was just talking to him nicely, and he pushed me into the water." 0

On the other end, 62-year-old Old Jin was furious. "What? He dares to bully my daughter? I'm coming over right now!" 0

"Mom, don't come. Let's just forget about it," Juhua wiped her tears. "Mu Fan said not to hold it against his brother." 0

"Forget it? Why should I?" Old Jin shouted over the phone. "My daughter has been bullied, and as her mother, I can't just swallow this anger! Just wait; I'll be there tomorrow!" 0

Early the next morning, Old Jin took a long-distance bus to Shangling Village. Though she was not tall, her fiery temper led her to quickly find Wei Fan's house. 0

Wei Fan was basking in the sun in the yard when he saw an angry old lady storming towards him. 0

"You are Wei Fan?" Old Jin pointed at him. "Why did you push my daughter into the water?" 0

Recognizing Juhua's mother, Wei Fan sneered. "She slipped down by herself; what does that have to do with me?" 0

"Slipped?" Old Jin trembled with anger. "My daughter told me you pushed her! How could a grown man bully a woman?" 0

"And what if I did?" Wei Fan stood up, looking down at the old lady. "She provoked me first; I haven't even settled the score with her yet!" 0
