Back in the thatched cottage, Su Wan'er looked at the hardworking Toad Spirit, her heart filled with mixed emotions.
To repay his life-saving grace and to conclude her earthly ties, she had made a decision… to marry him.

Su Wan'er walked over to Toad Spirit and softly said, "I... I want to marry you."
The hoe in Toad Spirit's hand clattered to the ground as he stared at Su Wan'er in shock, unable to believe his ears.
"What... what did you say?"
"I said, I want to marry you," Su Wan'er mustered her courage and repeated.
Toad Spirit gazed blankly at Su Wan'er, his eyes filled with surprise and confusion.
He knew Su Wan'er was a beautiful woman, but he had never imagined that she would want to marry him.
Su Wan'er rose, a faint smile gracing her face.
"I heard you are going to marry the Toad Spirit?"
Mo Linhao's voice trembled slightly as he looked at Su Wan'er with a complex expression.
Su Wan'er nodded gently.
"Why?"
Mo Linhao stepped forward, his tone anxious. "He is just a hunter, unworthy of you! You are naturally beautiful, like a fairy descended to earth. Marrying him is like casting a pearl into the dark!"
"Lin Hao, you misunderstand," Su Wan'er sighed and explained. "My love for the Toad Spirit is genuine, and marrying him is my choice."
"Genuine love?"
Mo Linhao scoffed, his tone laced with sarcasm. "How long have you known him? Do you even know what love is? You are a serpent demon! What future could you possibly have with a mortal?"
Su Wan'er's expression changed slightly, her tone growing cold. "Lin Hao, please show some respect!"
"Respect?"
Mo Linhao exclaimed passionately. "I care for you too much to stand by and watch you jump into a pit of fire! Su Wan'er, listen to me, you cannot marry him! Come with me; I won't let you suffer!"
“Lin Hao, I’ve made my decision,” Su Wan'er said, shaking her head as she looked at Mo Linhao with determination in her eyes. “Thank you for your feelings all this time, but I cannot accept them.”
“Are you… really going to marry him?” Mo Linhao asked in disbelief, pain evident in his eyes as he stared at Su Wan'er.
Su Wan'er remained silent, which was her way of confirming his fears.
“Fine! Fine! Fine!” Mo Linhao’s voice was filled with disappointment. “Su Wan'er, I hope you won’t regret this!”
With that, he turned and left without looking back.
Watching Mo Linhao’s retreating figure, Su Wan'er sighed.
What a tragic fate!
She understood Mo Linhao's feelings, but she had to do this.
To put an end to their entanglement, she had to go through with it.
