Meng Hao suddenly turned around, the poisoned dagger glinting with a cold light in the night. Two masked figures in black rushed towards him, their only goal: to eliminate Meng Hao outside the assembly hall. With a roar, Meng Hao summoned the Heavenly Axe into his palm, the brilliance of the Qingtong Arm swirling around his arms, dazzling and radiant, just enough to block that lethal strike. The dagger clashed against the axe, producing a piercing screech as sparks flew. A numbing sensation traveled up the axe handle to Meng Hao's hand; he knew this poison was no ordinary threat.
"Hmph, mere tricks!" Meng Hao sneered, his body twisting as the Heavenly Axe swept out with a howling wind. The two black-clad figures clearly did not expect Meng Hao's reaction to be so swift; they staggered back in panic. However, before they could regain their footing, Meng Hao's assault came crashing down like a torrential storm. The Heavenly Axe swung fiercely in his hands, the light of the Qingtong Arm growing ever brighter, each swing carrying the might to split mountains and shatter stones. The two black-clad figures were forced to retreat step by step, their expressions growing increasingly grave.
"Meng Hao, don't get too cocky!" one of them hissed ominously, his voice raspy like an owl in the night. "This poison will make you wish you were dead!"
Meng Hao furrowed his brow; he felt his internal energy rapidly depleting and his body beginning to stiffen. He knew he could not afford to delay any longer. With a sudden stomp of his foot, he shot upward, bringing the Heavenly Axe down with the weight of a mountain! The faces of the two black-clad figures changed dramatically; they had not anticipated that Meng Hao could unleash such powerful force. They desperately dodged, but the speed of the Heavenly Axe was too great. One of them barely managed to let out a scream before being struck by the axe blade, flying backward like a kite with its string cut, crashing heavily against the wall and spitting blood.
The other black-clad figure's eyes flashed with fear upon seeing this. He realized that this woodsman was far more troublesome than they had imagined. No longer willing to fight, he made a swift move to escape. However, Meng Hao would not let him flee so easily. With a deft step, he appeared before the fleeing figure like a wraith, positioning the Heavenly Axe at his neck.
"Speak! Who sent you?" Meng Hao asked coldly, his voice laced with a bloodthirsty intent.
The black-clad figure hesitated for a moment, but soon desperation took over. Just as he opened his mouth to respond, his pupils dilated sharply as he coughed up a mouthful of black blood and collapsed limply.
"Committed suicide?" A heaviness settled in Meng Hao's heart; it was clear that those behind this did not want any witnesses left alive.
At that moment, several figures rushed over from nearby—it was Bai Yunzi and several elders who had been pursuing the intruders. Upon seeing the two bodies of black-clad figures on the ground, their expressions turned grim.
"Meng Hao, what on earth happened?!" Bai Yunzi asked in a deep voice, fixing an intense gaze on Meng Hao.
Meng Hao took a deep breath, striving to calm the turmoil within him. He knew he had been poisoned and needed to find an antidote quickly. He briefly recounted what had transpired and emphasized their treachery and subsequent suicide.
"Suicide?" One elder stepped forward to examine the bodies closely, his expression darkening further. "It's Shattered Heart Powder! This poison is colorless and odorless; once it takes effect, it will kill instantly without any antidote!"
A chill ran through Meng Hao; he hadn’t expected such cruelty from his enemies—killing even their own subordinates without hesitation. His body felt heavier by the moment, and his vision began to blur.
"Master... disciple... disciple feels unwell..." Before Meng Hao could finish speaking, dizziness overwhelmed him as he swayed unsteadily on his feet.
“Meng Hao!” Bai Yunzi reacted swiftly, catching Meng Hao as he felt the chaotic energy within him. His face turned pale instantly. He scanned the elders present and said in a deep voice, “Meng Hao has been poisoned; he must be treated immediately!”
“Master, this kid has an unknown background and is severely poisoned. There might be something suspicious about this!” one elder said with a sarcastic tone, clearly still harboring doubts about him.
“Enough!” Bai Yunzi shouted angrily. “Meng Hao has saved our sect today; how dare you speak such nonsense! Someone, quickly take Meng Hao to the secret chamber. I will personally treat his injuries!”
Meng Hao felt darkness enveloping him, and he heard Bai Yunzi's furious roar before losing consciousness.
When Meng Hao awoke again, he found himself in a pitch-black secret chamber. The walls were etched with intricate runes that emitted a faint glow, yet this light could not dispel the shadows deep within the chamber. He tried to move his body but realized he was bound by an invisible force, unable to move his hands or feet. The internal energy within him felt sealed, unable to circulate.
“Damn it!” Meng Hao's heart sank; he knew he was trapped. He attempted to retrieve the Heavenly Axe from his possession, but the axe felt devoid of its former spirit. The Mountain Splitter Shield's Qingtong Arm dimmed, and he couldn't even gather a trace of energy. He sensed the power of his Golden Arm boiling within him but felt it suppressed by something, unable to fully unleash itself. It was as if he possessed immense strength yet could not release it, filling him with despair and rage.
“Li Muqing, you bastard!” Meng Hao growled through gritted teeth. He understood that this was undoubtedly Li Muqing's scheme. That treacherous little man had taken advantage of his poisoning and unconsciousness to imprison him here!
Despair washed over him like a tidal wave. He recalled the days spent with his parents in the mountain village, remembered the ambitions he had after obtaining the Heavenly Axe, and thought of Sun Ruoshui’s sparkling eyes… Was he really going to die trapped here?
“No!” Meng Hao shook his head fiercely, igniting a flame of defiance in his eyes. “I will not give up! I still want to become the leader of the martial arts world, to master all Divine Weapons, and to uphold my sense of chivalry! I will not be forced down; I will defy all odds!”
He remembered Bai Yunzi’s teachings after the competition. Bai Yunzi had once said, “On the path of martial arts, the state of mind is paramount. Only with a focused heart can one touch upon the true essence of martial arts.” Meng Hao closed his eyes and tried to cast aside all distractions, seeking a deeper connection with the Heavenly Axe.
In meditation, Meng Hao felt a faint vibration from the Heavenly Axe. The tremor was like a gentle breeze rippling across a lake, gradually spreading outwards as his internal energy began to flow slowly through his meridians. The golden light of his Golden Arm flickered in the darkness, resembling a slumbering dragon on the verge of awakening. He sensed a powerful force brewing within him, as if he could tear apart this secret chamber at will!
Just as Meng Hao immersed himself in resonance with the Heavenly Axe, outside the chamber, Li Muqing wore a sinister smile on his face, tinged with a hint of sickly excitement. He had already spread news about the invasion of the forbidden area throughout Kongtong Sect and secretly guided everyone to point their fingers at Meng Hao. Now that Meng Hao was imprisoned in the secret chamber, all he needed to do was wait for the right moment to ignite greater chaos.
“Meng Hao, oh Meng Hao,” Li Muqing muttered darkly to himself, “do you think you are strong? You are merely my pawn! Once you are despised by everyone and abandoned by your sect, I will personally take your Heavenly Axe and crush you beneath my feet!”
He had already imagined Meng Hao being scorned by the crowd, kneeling and begging for mercy in a pitiful state. However, just as he immersed himself in his fantasy, a sudden change occurred within the secret chamber!
A violent surge of energy erupted from the chamber, sweeping through like a raging tide! Li Muqing's face instantly turned pale as he felt the overwhelming power, an uncontrollable fear rising within him.
"This... this is impossible!" Li Muqing exclaimed in disbelief; he could not fathom how Meng Hao could unleash such power in this dire situation!
Inside the secret chamber, Meng Hao suddenly opened his eyes wide, golden light flickering within them like two brilliant stars. He felt the complete awakening of his Golden Arm, an unprecedented strength flooding through his limbs and bones. He swung the Heavenly Axe, with the Golden Shield swirling around him, runes flowing and exuding a chilling aura.
"Break for me!" Meng Hao roared, the Heavenly Axe crashing down towards the door of the chamber with immense force!
With a thunderous boom! The door of the chamber was instantly shattered, wooden splinters flying everywhere as dust filled the air. The broken stones shot out like cannonballs, directly knocking back several disciples sent by Li Muqing to guard outside; they didn’t even have time to scream before falling silent.
As the dust settled, Meng Hao's figure appeared before everyone like a deity. Holding the Heavenly Axe, he radiated golden light, his gaze sharp as a blade. His eyes pierced through the night, landing squarely on Li Muqing.
Li Muqing was terrified, his face pale and legs weak, nearly collapsing to the ground. He never expected that Meng Hao could survive such a situation and unleash such astonishing power! A fear unlike any he had ever known gripped him—a deep-seated tremor from within.
"Li Muqing, did you really think you could trap me?" Meng Hao's voice was cold and filled with murderous intent as he stepped closer to Li Muqing. Each step felt like it was crushing Li Muqing's heart, making it hard for him to breathe.
Li Muqing stumbled back in fear; he wanted to escape but found that his legs wouldn’t obey him. He saw the fury in Meng Hao's eyes that seemed ready to devour him whole. He knew that this time, he was truly finished! He wanted to beg for mercy, but his throat felt as if something was blocking it, unable to produce any sound.
Meng Hao gave him no chance. He surged forward with lightning speed, appearing right in front of Li Muqing in an instant. The Heavenly Axe was raised high, wielding an unstoppable force as it swung down towards Li Muqing!
