Yue Lin and Meng Yi were classmates, neighbors, and childhood friends who had grown up together. 0

They shared a common interest: anime and novels. Their enthusiasm and obsession with these hobbies even led their classmates to jokingly refer to them as anime nerds. 0

The comic rental shop was their sanctuary, a place they visited every few days. Whenever they discovered a new work that caught their eye and captivated their hearts, they would eagerly share it with each other. 0

"Hey, did you try it last night? How did it go?" Meng Yi asked as she approached Yue Lin's desk after class. 0

"Ugh, it was useless. I didn't dream about anything," Yue Lin replied dejectedly, glancing sideways at her. "I guess it's not as easy as I imagined..." 0

"Well, after hearing you say that yesterday, I suddenly had an idea..." Meng Yi said, sitting across from her in the seat in front. "Summer vacation is coming up, and we have that free research project, right? Why don't we make that our theme?" 0

"What theme?" Yue Lin looked at her in confusion, clearly missing the point. 0

"About whether we can travel to another world through dreams!" Meng Yi explained excitedly. "Don't you want to experience being in a story? I believe dreams are actually a connection to another world. So I'll design the verification methods, and you can be the test subject. What do you think?" 0

Yue Lin couldn't help but feel astonished. 0

"…Is your imagination really that wild? Are you sure the teacher won't reject it?" 0

"As long as we can create a decent research record that proves we're serious and not just making things up, the teacher won't care too much! After all, it's a free research project!" 0

"However, can it really go this smoothly?" Yue Lin still felt uneasy. "What if nothing happens?" 0

"Then it just proves that this theory is wrong, and it doesn't matter," Meng Yi said dismissively, shrugging her shoulders. "Come on! So, what's the verdict? Yes or no?" 0

"Oh, fine! I haven't thought of a research topic anyway, so it's up to you!" Yue Lin rested her chin on her hand, looking at her. "So, how do you want to proceed?" 0

"Well... actually, I've only sketched out a rough idea; I haven't clarified my thoughts yet. How about we decide after school today whether to go to your place or mine to discuss it?" 0

"Sounds good! After school, let's head to your place first! Otherwise, if my mom finds out I went to the rental bookstore again, she'll definitely lecture me endlessly." 0

After school, they followed their usual routine and went to the comic rental shop near the school district to rent a bunch of novels and comics. Then they stopped by for cold drinks before heading back to the room to relax in the air conditioning. 0

After reading through a pile of comics for a while, Yue Lin put down her book and stretched lazily. She glanced at the clock on the wall and nudged Meng Yi beside her. 0

"Hey, stop reading for now; let's get down to business! If we keep this up, I'll have to go home for dinner." 0

"Oh..." Meng Yi reluctantly placed a bookmark in the book she was halfway through and rubbed her face to regain her focus. 0

"So, what's your idea?" Yue Lin asked. 0

"Um, let me think about where to start..." Meng Yi frowned in thought for a while. "First of all, I believe in the existence of parallel universes, so I also believe in the existence of other worlds." 0

"Mm." Yue Lin nodded in understanding. 0

"But compared to the completely unknown other world, I believe that the so-called world within books is actually a much easier and worthwhile existence to explore." 0

"Is it because there is already a tangible entity called 'book' as a basis?" 0

"No, it's 'story,'" Meng Yi corrected. "After all, stories are conceived and crafted from human thoughts. However, most stories appear fragmented and chaotic; only a few possess a complete structure and worldview that can even captivate readers. Why do you think that is?" 0

"Perhaps it depends on the author's dedication?" 0

"Yes, that's one reason, but mainly it's because what those authors describe truly exists in another realm," Meng Yi said earnestly. "The inspiration and thoughts of those authors resonate unconsciously with the worlds of those stories, creating a connection that allows them to record it." 0

"So?" 0

"And dreams are the pathways that connect thoughts," Meng Yi said with a mischievous smile. "So let's see if we can find an entrance to another world through dreams and fulfill your desire to enter a story!" 0
