"Mr. Lin's awakening has been reported back to the company," a sharply dressed man entered, respectfully handing over a fruit basket. "The chairman said that once you recover, you will be directly promoted to Vice President, with a starting salary of one million."
Zhou Ting excitedly grasped Lin Xiaofan's hand. "Did you hear that, Fan Ge? You've made it!"
His parents also wore relieved smiles. The hospital room was filled with warmth and joy, everything felt too good to be true.
A nurse pushed the door open. "Family members, please go to the front desk to complete some paperwork."
After his parents left, Zhou Ting gently tucked the blanket around Lin Xiaofan. "What do you want to eat? I’ll go get it for you."
"Mango," Lin Xiaofan said, staring into her eyes. "I suddenly really want some."
"Okay, I’ll go right now—" Zhou Ting turned to leave but suddenly froze.
Lin Xiaofan sneered. "You don’t know I’m allergic to mangoes? You’ve seen me end up in the hospital after eating them."
Zhou Ting slowly turned around, her gentle expression twisting into something darker. "Looks like this character setting isn’t well thought out..."
"Moro, is this interesting?" Lin Xiaofan yanked the IV drip from his hand.
Zhou Ting stood at the door, her lips curling into a strange smile. "It is interesting. Isn’t it nice to stay in this world where everything goes smoothly? Parents alive, successful career, an ex-girlfriend coming back..."
"Shut up!" Lin Xiaofan shouted angrily. "This is all fake!"
He bit down hard on his tongue, pain flooding his mouth with blood. The scene before him cracked and peeled like a shattered mirror—
"Ugh!" He spat out a mouthful of blood as the world spun around him.
Thud! His knees hit the hard ground painfully, and Lin Xiaofan grimaced in agony. It was only then he realized he was bound and kneeling in a grand hall, surrounded by guards wielding swords.
"Lin Xiaofan! Your father has committed treason; the evidence is irrefutable!" A sharp voice came from above.
Looking up, he saw the Crown Prince in a bright yellow dragon robe standing before the dragon throne—rumor had it that the Emperor was ill and the Prince was acting as regent. Even more alarming was Moro in a flowing black robe behind the screen, his bronze mask gleaming coldly.
"Shut your mouth!" Lin Xiaofan cursed loudly. "If my father wanted to rebel, he would have scattered your worthless ashes long ago! How dare you slander him?"
The Crown Prince sneered and raised a letter. "This was intercepted from the Western Regions; it clearly states your father's dealings with the Western Khan!"
"Let me see!" Lin Xiaofan struggled to stand but was pushed back down by the guards.
"System, scan that letter!"

[Material: Western Region Snow Silkworm Paper]
Lin Xiaofan suddenly burst into laughter. "Your Highness, this accusation is far too careless, don't you think?"
"Impudent!" the Crown Prince shouted angrily.
"Everyone, please take a look!" Lin Xiaofan raised his voice. "This letter paper is made from the snow silkworm silk that was offered as tribute from the Western Regions this year. My father, as a general on the frontier, would never have access to such luxury. In fact, the Emperor just awarded a batch of this to the Crown Prince's Mansion last month—if you don't believe me, go search the storerooms at the Crown Prince's Mansion; I'm sure there are still some left!"
A stir ran through the court as several elderly officials leaned in to examine the letter paper, whispering among themselves.
Suddenly, a piercing shriek came from behind the screen where Moro was hidden, and his black robe billowed without wind. The tiles on the roof cracked with a "snap," and shards rained down like hail!
