After the failed confession in the café, Guo Chunniu did not give up. In his eyes, Han Han's rejection was merely a moment of shyness; she would surely come to understand his sincerity. He launched a frenzied pursuit.
Every morning at 7 a.m., he would send a "Good morning," and without fail, there would be a "Good night" at 11 p.m. He even included some cheesy lines in his messages:
"Do you know? Seeing your smile every day is my greatest happiness."
"I would give up everything for you, including my family."
Han Han felt a surge of fear upon reading these messages. She began to deliberately avoid Guo Chunniu's classes, skipping whenever possible. However, Guo Chunniu quickly caught on to her little scheme.
"Han Han, why have you been taking so many sick days lately? Are you feeling unwell?" he asked with concern, blocking her path at the dormitory entrance.
"I... I just have a bit of a cold," Han Han replied, looking down and unable to meet his gaze.
"Then let me accompany you to the hospital; it's only right for a teacher to care for their students." He reached out to grab her arm.
"No need!" Han Han stepped back in panic. "Teacher, this isn't appropriate."
Guo Chunniu's expression darkened instantly. "What's inappropriate about it? I'm just concerned for you!"
Guo Chunniu became more aggressive. He used his position as a teacher to demand private meetings with Han Han under various pretexts. Whether it was to talk, provide extra tutoring, or discuss assignments, he made sure she couldn't find peace.
"Han Han, your assignment quality has dropped; come to my office."
"Han Han, your last exam results were unsatisfactory; you need extra help."
During each private meeting, Guo Chunniu would bring up that day in the café, trying to persuade Han Han to change her mind.
"Don't you really want to give me a chance? I can offer you a better life—far better than those childish classmates of yours."
"Teacher, please stop this. I really just want to focus on my studies," Han Han pleaded almost desperately.
"Studying? What can studying give you? With me, you won't have to worry about anything!" Guo Chunniu's tone grew increasingly agitated.
Realizing that his gentle approach was ineffective, Guo Chunniu began resorting to threats.
"If you don't agree to me, I'll make sure you fail this course!"
"Do you think you can escape? In this school, I have the final say!"
Driven into a corner, Han Han could only seek help from her roommate.
Her roommate advised her, "You should tell the counselor right away; that teacher clearly has issues!"
But Han Han was afraid of escalating the situation and affecting her studies. "What if he really makes me fail? It's not easy for my family to support my education."
Seeing that Han Han remained unmoved, Guo Chunniu's anger began to spiral out of control.
On May 29, he made a reckless decision.
"I want a divorce!" he shouted at his wife.
"Are you crazy? Why would you want a divorce when everything is fine?" His wife was completely bewildered.
"I've found true love; I can't keep deceiving myself!"
His wife was stunned for a moment, then tearfully asked, "After twenty years of marriage, you just want to end it? Who is this woman?"
"That's none of your business!" Guo Chunniu said coldly. "Besides, we no longer have any feelings for each other."
After finalizing the divorce, Guo Chunniu felt he could finally pursue Han Han openly.
With high hopes, he approached her: "I've gotten divorced; now there are no obstacles between us!"
Han Han was taken aback. "Teacher, why did you do this? I never agreed to anything!"
"You'll understand my sincerity!" Guo Chunniu said with determination.
On June 29, she could no longer endure Guo Chunniu's harassment, and they had a fierce argument.
Guo Chunniu lost control and even struck her.
"You ungrateful woman! I've given up everything for you; how dare you reject me!" he shouted while hitting her.
Han Han cried out in resistance, "Help! Is anyone there? Help me!"
Passersby heard her cries and immediately called the police.
When the officers arrived at the scene, they took both of them to the police station.
In the police station, the mediator patiently worked, saying, "Teacher Guo, what you're doing is wrong. Student Han Han has the right to choose; you cannot force her."
"She is mine! No one can take her away from me!" Guo Chunniu completely lost his rationality.
After a night of mediation, both parties finally signed the mediation agreement: Guo Chunniu promised not to harass Han Han anymore, and they would no longer have any contact.
But at the moment the agreement was signed, the resentment in Guo Chunniu's heart reached its peak. He felt deeply humiliated that a mere 19-year-old girl dared to insult him in such a way.
