"Indeed," Xiao Zhongyan said, his expression complex. "When the Nangong Family was exterminated, on the surface, the Xiao Family benefited, but the truth is far more complicated. My father has always felt guilty about this matter and has been investigating it in secret for many years."

What troubled her even more was that the emblem on Zheng Yushi's attire was identical to that worn by the murderer of the Nangong Family years ago!

Nangong Shuang read it repeatedly, growing increasingly convinced that her father's death was closely tied to the power struggles within the court. And the Cold Poison within her was actually related to royal blood!

As she pondered this, a faint sound came from outside her window again. Nangong Shuang stood alert and quietly approached the window.
A shadow was stealthily approaching her window. Holding a silver needle tightly in hand, she prepared to strike at any moment.
The window was gently pushed open, and a figure slipped inside. In the moonlight, it was none other than Xiao Zhongyan!
"Xiao Gongzi visiting at this late hour—what brings you here?" Nangong Shuang asked coldly, aiming her silver needle at his vital points.
"Shh! Lower your voice," Xiao Zhongyan whispered urgently, his expression tense. "There’s a traitor in the Sixth Prince's residence; Zheng Yushi has sent people to surround this courtyard and plans to take you tonight."
"How do you know this?" Nangong Shuang remained unmoved.
"The two black-clad men we captured earlier were spies planted by Zheng Yushi in the Sixth Prince's residence. They leaked information saying you are a remnant of the Nangong Family with a Plum Blossom Mark; Zheng Yushi has sent experts to capture you."
Nangong Shuang's heart sank. "Does the Sixth Prince know about this?"
