A marvelous thing happened. A faint blue light began to emanate from her palm, and strands of cold air coalesced at her fingertips, forming tiny ice crystals in the air. With a gentle wave of her hand, the cold air drifted towards a nearby teacup, and the water inside instantly froze!
"That's amazing!" Nangong Shuang exclaimed in delight. This was exactly the technique described in the "Five Elements Heart-Devouring Poison Classic," known as "Cold Poison Release." With this ability, she could not only better control the Cold Poison within her but also use it as a weapon for defense and attack.
Just as she was about to delve deeper into her practice, a warning voice from outside interrupted her. "Nangong Shuang, someone is approaching!" Xiao Zhongyan called out.
Nangong Shuang quickly tucked away the scroll and cautiously moved to the window to observe. Outside, it was pitch black, but she could vaguely see several shadows moving under the moonlight.
"Is it those from the Shadow Pavilion again?" Nangong Shuang whispered.
Xiao Zhongyan shook his head. "I can't tell, but they definitely don't have good intentions. We need to leave immediately."
Nangong Shuang hurriedly packed her belongings, carefully stowing away the remnants of the "Five Elements Heart-Devouring Poison Classic" and a few Bing Po Wan.
"Let's go out through the back window," Xiao Zhongyan pointed to a small window at the back of the house. "I'll distract them while you find a chance to escape."
"No, we leave together," Nangong Shuang said decisively. "I've just learned some new techniques that can help us get away."
Before Xiao Zhongyan could respond, she had already pushed open the window and leaped out gracefully. Outside, several figures in black were stealthily approaching, and upon seeing her, they immediately lunged forward.
"Catch her!" The leader shouted fiercely, throwing several hidden weapons from his hand.
Nangong Shuang remained calm; with a flick of her right hand, a blast of cold air surged toward the projectiles. There were several crisp sounds as the hidden weapons were encased in a thin layer of ice mid-air before falling to the ground.
"What is this... Cold Poison Technique?" one of the black-clad men exclaimed in shock, clearly not expecting that Nangong Shuang had already mastered the Cold Poison Release.
Seizing the opportunity, Nangong Shuang took a swift step forward, her fingers curling like claws as she aimed for the opponent's throat. The black-clad man hurriedly tried to block her attack but was injured by the cold air at her fingertips, causing his arm to go numb instantly.
"Ah!" he screamed in agony, retreating several steps.
Seeing this, Xiao Zhongyan also jumped out of the window, his sword flashing like a dragon as he engaged with other attackers. The two worked seamlessly together and quickly repelled several assailants.
"Let's go!" Xiao Zhongyan urged in a low voice as he grabbed Nangong Shuang's hand and ran towards the outskirts of the village.
In the darkness, they moved like the wind and soon shook off their pursuers. Once they confirmed their safety, Xiao Zhongyan finally stopped.
"You've made great progress in your martial arts," he praised, his eyes gleaming with an unusual light. "That Cold Poison Technique is truly impressive."
Nangong Shuang smiled slightly. "It's just a small achievement; I'm still far from enough."
"Those people don't seem to be using methods typical of the Shadow Pavilion," Xiao Zhongyan pondered. "Perhaps someone else has set their sights on us."
"Whoever it is, since they've shown themselves, they will surely come again," Nangong Shuang said with a serious expression. "We need to head to Mei Ying Villa quickly and find the Heavenly Fragrance Life-Extending Technique."
"We'll set off early tomorrow morning," Xiao Zhongyan nodded. "For tonight, let's find a safe place to rest."
The two continued on their journey, and in the distance, the outline of the capital city could be faintly seen, resembling a slumbering giant under the moonlight. Nangong Shuang glanced back towards the city, her heart filled with mixed emotions.
The experiences of these few days felt like a dream. From being a humble medical girl upon her arrival in the capital to now mastering the Cold Poison Technique as a descendant of the Nangong family, her identity and abilities had undergone a tremendous transformation.

She touched the remnants of the scroll in her arms, silently vowing to find the Heavenly Fragrance Life-Extending Technique, unravel the mystery behind the massacre of the Nangong family, and avenge her parents!
