For a moment, an eerie silence enveloped the battlefield. Lu Tong and his guards watched the Mountain Bandits warily, unsure why they had suddenly ceased their attack.
"Heh, I didn't expect to find an unexpected treasure," the Thief Leader said as he rode down the mountain, approaching Nangong Shuang with a greedy gaze sweeping over her face. "What a beauty! It seems this trip was worth it."
Nangong Shuang remained unperturbed, calmly replying, "You are committing a capital offense by robbing the road. If you leave now, you might avoid great disaster."
"Hahaha!" The Thief Leader laughed heartily at her words. "Little beauty, are you threatening me?"
He dismounted and approached Nangong Shuang, reaching out to touch her face. "With a gem like you by my side, you'll enjoy wealth and luxury with me, Old Yang."
Nangong Shuang subtly evaded his hand, a glint of coldness flashing in her eyes. "You have quite the audacity, Yang Zhe Shou. But before that, may I invite you to share a drink with me?"
"Oh?" Yang Zhe Shou paused for a moment before revealing a lewd smile. "Little beauty knows how to play her cards right. Good! Someone, bring the wine!"
A Mountain Bandit hurriedly fetched a jug of wine and two cups. Nangong Shuang took the jug and poured two cups, handing one to Yang Zhe Shou.
"Wait." Yang Zhe Shou looked suspiciously at the cup. "You drink first."
Nangong Shuang smiled slightly and raised her cup, downing it in one gulp. "To you, Thief Leader."
Seeing this, Yang Zhe Shou finally felt at ease and drank his cup in one go.
"Good wine!" He wiped his mouth and nodded in satisfaction. "Little beauty, are you implying that you want to join me?"
"Not at all," Nangong Shuang replied calmly. "I merely want to make your death more comfortable."
"What?" Yang Zhe Shou was taken aback for a moment before his face twisted in anger. "What an arrogant girl! How dare you mock me!"
He drew his large knife from his waist and aimed it at Nangong Shuang, but suddenly felt dizzy and lightheaded; the knife clattered to the ground.
"You... you poisoned the wine?" Yang Zhe Shou staggered back, disbelief filling his eyes.
Nangong Shuang let out a cold laugh. "Not only that, but the effects of 'Zui Hun San' will spread rapidly. Just look at your men."
Yang Zhe Shou turned around and saw his subordinates swaying unsteadily; some had already collapsed while others were dazed and confused.
"How is this possible..." Yang Zhe Shou was horrified.
"The wine contained powdered medicine; as you drank deeply, you were already affected," Nangong Shuang explained. "'Zui Hun San' is colorless and tasteless; it can seal one's throat upon contact with blood, but when inhaled through breathing, it causes confusion and deep sleep."
Yang Zhe Shou looked at her in terror and suddenly noticed the faint Plum Blossom Mark on her left wrist.
"You... you're from the Nangong Family?" His voice trembled as his face turned pale.
Nangong Shuang raised an eyebrow slightly. "So the Thief Leader recognizes my Nangong Family's mark?"
"The legendary 'Cold Poison Saint'..." Yang Zhe Shou murmured, suddenly turning and running as if mad. "Run! She is the poison master of the Nangong Family! Hurry, escape!"
The remaining few Mountain Bandits, who had not yet been fully poisoned, were terrified by his words and scrambled away into the forest.
Nangong Shuang watched the fleeing Mountain Bandits with cold eyes and said softly, "Greedy ones, you are on a path to death. It is already fortunate that I do not take your lives today."
Once the Mountain Bandits had all fled, Lu Tong and the caravan guards finally came to their senses, each one amazed.
"Nangong Shuang, what a skill!" Lu Tong stepped forward, his face full of admiration. "You subdued more than a dozen Mountain Bandits with just a flask of wine; truly remarkable!"
Nangong Shuang smiled lightly. "Just a little trick, nothing to boast about."
Lu Tong, however, seemed to ponder for a moment. "That Thief Leader seemed to recognize your identity. Given his terrified expression, your family must have quite a reputation in the martial world?"
