"Has Lord Guo returned to the residence?" Nangong Shuang asked. 0

Xing Er nodded. "The master just came back not long ago. I heard that you saved the young lady, so he specifically instructed me to bring some tea as a token of gratitude for your life-saving kindness." 0

Nangong Shuang looked at the tray with suspicion. "At this late hour, Lord Guo is still thinking about these things?" 0

"The master is concerned about the young lady and couldn't sleep all night," Xing Er explained. "Please accept it; this is what the master specifically ordered." 0

Nangong Shuang took the tray but did not immediately invite Xing Er inside. Instead, she stood at the door and asked, "Did Lord Guo have any messages to convey?" 0

Xing Er shook her head. "No, just to ask you to rest well and that he will thank you in person tomorrow." 0

"Thank you, Xing Er," Nangong Shuang said with a nod of appreciation before closing the door and placing the tray on the table. 0

She did not touch the tea right away but carefully examined the box. It was small and exquisitely crafted, adorned with intricate patterns. Upon opening it, she found some delicate pastries that looked quite tempting. 0

Nangong Shuang gently sniffed the tea and pastries but detected no unusual odors. However, she remained cautious and took out a silver needle, lightly piercing it into both the tea and pastries to observe any changes. 0

The needle showed no discoloration, appearing harmless. Yet, Nangong Shuang still hesitated to try them; she knew that some poisons were colorless and tasteless and would not react with silver needles—only specific antidotes could reveal their presence. 0

"Strange, if this is truly Lord Guo's intention, why not wait until tomorrow to present it in person?" Nangong Shuang murmured to herself, deciding to refrain from touching the tea and pastries for now. 0

She walked to the window and opened it to check on the outside situation. Below was a small garden bathed in moonlight, with lush flowers and trees creating a serene atmosphere. Just as she was about to close the window, she caught sight of a shadow darting through the bushes before quickly disappearing into the darkness. 0

Nangong Shuang's heart raced; the figure was dressed in servant attire from Guo Residence and moved stealthily, clearly not on a regular patrol. She quietly shut the window, her alertness heightened. 0

"It seems Guo Residence is not very peaceful," Nangong Shuang muttered to herself, deciding to stay awake all night and remain vigilant. 0

In the dead of night, she faintly heard footsteps in the corridor again. It seemed someone lingered outside her door for a moment before leaving. Pressing against the door crack, she saw a shadow vanish around the corner at the end of the hallway. 0

"Someone is watching me," Nangong Shuang concluded firmly, further solidifying her decision not to drink that tea. 0

The next morning, Nangong Shuang got up to check on Guo Chunyi's condition. The young girl looked much better; the bruises on her face had completely faded, though she still appeared somewhat weak. Madam Guo had not slept all night and expressed her gratitude upon seeing Nangong Shuang. 0

"Thanks to you, Nangong Shuang, Guan Chunyi's fever has subsided, and she's feeling much better," Madam Guo said joyfully. 0

Nangong Shuang checked Guan Chunyi's pulse and confirmed that the toxins were gradually leaving her body. She nodded and said, "Miss Guo is recovering well; after taking another dose of medicine, she should be completely fine." 0

"That's wonderful!" Madam Guo exclaimed with delight. "I've already sent someone to inform the master; he went to court early this morning. He will be so pleased to hear this good news." 0

Nangong Shuang was slightly taken aback. "Lord Guo didn't return last night?" 0

"No," Madam Guo replied with a puzzled look at Nangong Shuang. "He hasn't returned since going to court yesterday; he mentioned there were urgent matters." 0

Nangong Shuang's heart raced with alarm; last night's Xing Er and the tea were clearly part of someone impersonating Lord Guo's orders! She calmly replied, "It's nothing; I just heard from a maid that I thought Lord Guo had returned." 0

Without giving it much thought, Madam Guo continued to care for her daughter. Nangong Shuang excused herself, claiming she needed to prepare medicinal herbs, and temporarily took her leave. Upon returning to her room, she discovered that the tea snacks from the previous night had already been cleared away, and even the tray was missing. 0

"Interesting," Nangong Shuang scoffed softly. "Since I wasn't fooled, they will surely have another move planned." 0
