The young man spoke calmly, "Miss, please don't be anxious. I was sent by Qiao Er to assist you."
"Qiao Er?" Nangong Shuang looked at him suspiciously. "How could she send you?"
The young man smiled slightly. "Because the area around the manor is already filled with spies from the Shadow Pavilion. Sister Qiao Er cannot leave, so she sent me to deliver the message." He took out an embroidered handkerchief from his pocket, the very token that Nangong Shuang had given to Qiao Er.
Nangong Shuang took the handkerchief and examined it carefully. Confirming its authenticity, she relaxed her guard slightly. "What is the situation?"
"It's very dangerous," the young man said with a serious expression. "At least thirty assassins from the Shadow Pavilion are ambushing inside and outside the manor. They have received orders to capture someone named 'Nan Gong Yu Nie.' From the bushes emerged a stooped old woman, who was none other than Qiao Er in disguise.
"Sister, you finally made it!" Qiao Er said anxiously. "There has been a change; Young Master Xiao Zhongyan has been moved and is about to be escorted back to the capital. We must hurry!"
Nangong Shuang's heart tightened. "Escorted back to the capital? Why?"
"I heard it's an order from Zheng Yushi," Qiao Er explained. "He suspects Xiao Gongzi of colluding with 'Nan Gong Yu Nie' and wants to interrogate him personally."
Zheng Yushi! A cold glint flashed in Nangong Shuang's eyes. This name was closely tied to the annihilation of her family.
"When will he be escorted?" Nangong Shuang asked urgently.
"Tonight at midnight," Qiao Er pointed towards the direction of the manor. "Xiao Gongzi is currently locked in a woodshed in the backyard, guarded by four assassins from Shadow Pavilion. As soon as midnight arrives, someone will come to escort him back to the capital."
Nangong Shuang quickly devised a rescue plan in her mind. "How many people are inside the villa?"
"Aside from the four guards watching over Young Master Xiao, there are six assassins from the Shadow Pavilion patrolling. Young Master Er is waiting for Zheng Yushi in the front hall with two of his trusted aides," Qiao Er reported in detail. "The rest are ambushed around the villa to prevent anyone from sneaking in."
