Nangong Shuang hid in the shadows, only returning to her room once she confirmed it was safe. Xiao Cha had arrived earlier and was anxiously waiting.
"Sister, that was close!" Xiao Cha sighed in relief. "Those servants were on night patrol, but luckily, Xiao Da Gongzi was clever enough to lead them away."

Xiao Cha asked curiously, "So what should we do next?"

"What about Xiao Er Gongzi?" Xiao Cha asked worriedly. "He already knows your identity and won't let it go easily."
Nangong Shuang sneered coldly. "Let them come; I have my ways to deal with them. If Xiao Zhongmo dares to act against us, I will have my countermeasures ready."
She glanced out at the moonlit night and softly said, "It's getting late; we should rest. There’s much to do tomorrow."
Xiao Cha nodded in agreement and left Nangong Shuang's room. Alone at the window, Nangong Shuang's thoughts were tumultuous. The day had been filled with both danger and gains. Rescuing Lan Yuyan, forming an alliance with the Azure Dragon Gang, and obtaining clues from Xiao Zhongyan were all unexpected joys. Yet, at the same time, Xiao Zhongmo's hostility and the mysterious Shadow Pavilion organization loomed over her like a shadow of crisis.
The moonlight outside cast a serene glow on her resolute face. No matter how treacherous the road ahead might be, Nangong Shuang would press on without hesitation until she uncovered the truth and cleared her family's name.
Meanwhile, in another room of Guo Residence, Xiao Zhongmo stood by the window, coldly gazing towards the back garden with a glint of malice in his eyes.
"Brother, do you think I don't know what you're up to?" he murmured to himself. "Nan Gong Yu Nie, Heavenly Fragrance Life-Extending Technique—these are all mine! Whoever dares to stand in my way will meet their end!"
He toyed with a jade pendant in his hand, intricately carved with a budding orchid that glimmered coldly under the moonlight.
As morning sunlight streamed through the window onto Nangong Shuang's medicinal table, she focused intently on preparing a new batch of Qi Xin Xiang, her brow furrowed in concentration. It had been five days since she met Lan Tianxiao, the young master of Azure Dragon Gang. During this time, she had been consolidating the Poison Butterfly intelligence network while gathering clues about the Nangong Family Massacre Case.
"Sister, I'm back!" Xiao Cha burst through the door with an excited expression on her face. "I have astonishing news!"
Nangong Shuang set down her pestle and looked up at Xiao Cha. "What has you so worked up?"
Xiao Cha glanced around to ensure no one was eavesdropping before lowering her voice. "Do you remember that official who oversaw the execution of our old servant Chen Bo? Zheng Zhao! I've found out where he is!"
Nangong Shuang's eyes sparkled with interest. "Where is Zheng Zhao now?"
"He has been promoted to Jingzhaoyin!" Xiao Cha said indignantly. "A mere Executioner has risen through the ranks in just a few years; now he's a high-ranking official with immense wealth—his mansion is even more lavish than Guo Family's!"
Upon hearing this, a cold glint flashed in Nangong Shuang's eyes. She vividly remembered witnessing Chen Bo being tortured at Execution Ground; it was Zheng Zhao who presided over that execution. Later on, when Nangong Shuang used Ding Shen Wan to save Chen Bo, it was because she noticed that Zheng Zhao’s jade pendant resembled that of the murderer from that tragic night when her family was slaughtered.
