Everything was arranged, and Nangong Shuang and Xiao Cha bid farewell to Lan Tianxiao, quietly leaving Jin Xiang Courtyard. Zheng Zhao had already been taken care of by the Azure Dragon Gang; when he woke up tomorrow, he would only think he had drunk too much at a brothel and would not suspect he had been set up.

Nangong Shuang nodded, her eyes glinting coldly. “This is just the beginning. The truth behind the annihilation of the Nangong Family must be revealed, and none of those involved will escape!”
By the time they returned to Guo Residence, it was already late at night. Nangong Shuang took out the copy of the recording that Lan Tianxiao had given her and carefully searched for a hiding place. After much thought, she went to a hidden compartment in her room, cautiously stashing the recording away and locking it with a special mechanism to ensure its safety.
“This item is of great importance and will surely be useful in the future,” Nangong Shuang murmured to herself, already plotting in her mind.
The next morning, as soon as Nangong Shuang got out of bed, Xiao Cha rushed in, her expression excited. “Sister, it worked! The Azure Dragon Gang copied the recording over a hundred times last night and plastered them all over the capital! Now everyone is in an uproar discussing Zheng Zhao’s disgrace!”
Nangong Shuang nodded impassively. “What news from the Xiao Family?”
“According to the Azure Dragon Gang, Zheng Zhao hurried to Xiao Mansion early this morning to seek an audience with Xiao Xiang and Xiao Er Gongzi,” Xiao Cha said excitedly. “It seems he’s looking for protection. However, the doors of Xiao Mansion are tightly shut; they seem unwilling to see him.”
Nangong Shuang sneered. “He brought this upon himself. Zheng Zhao probably won’t be able to keep his position this time.”
Just then, hurried footsteps approached from outside, and a maid rushed in. “Nangong Shuang, the young lady requests your presence; she says there’s a distinguished guest visiting.”
Nangong Shuang felt puzzled but tidied her clothes before following the maid to the front hall. As soon as she entered, she froze—Xiao Zhongyan was sitting in the guest seat, chatting amiably with Lord Guo!
“Ah, Nangong Shuang has arrived,” Lord Guo greeted with a smile. “Xiao Da Gongzi specifically came to invite you and Guan Chunyi to attend a family banquet at Xiao Mansion.”
Xiao Zhongyan stood up gracefully and bowed politely. “Nangong Shuang, I hope you are well. My father has set a banquet and specifically instructed me to invite Miss Guo and Nangong Shuang to grace us with your presence.”
Nangong Shuang’s heart tightened, but she maintained her composure and replied politely, “Xiao Gongzi is too kind. However, my status is humble; I fear I am not suitable for attending your esteemed banquet.”
“Nangong Shuang is being overly modest,” Xiao Zhongyan said gently with a smile. “Your medical skills are remarkable; my mother has long heard of your reputation and wishes for you to examine her wind illness. Would you honor us with your presence?”
This invitation came too suddenly and coincided with Zheng Zhao’s scandal breaking out; Nangong Shuang couldn’t help but feel wary. What were Xiao Zhongyan’s true intentions? Did he want to help her or was there something else at play?
Lord Guo seemed quite surprised but didn’t want to refuse an invitation from the Xiao Family. He said, “Nangong Shuang, Madam Xiao is unwell; your medical expertise would be a great service if you could go treat her.”
Nangong Shuang glanced at Lord Guo and then at Xiao Zhongyan. After pondering for a moment, she finally nodded. “In that case, Nangong Shuang is willing to attend.”
“Wonderful!” Xiao Zhongyan expressed his delight. “The family banquet is set for three days from now; I will send someone to fetch both of you.”
