After exchanging a few pleasantries, Xiao Zhongyan took his leave. Nangong Shuang returned to her room, her mind swirling with thoughts. Today's events were likely more than just a simple invitation to a family banquet. The fact that Xiao Zhongyan chose to invite her on the very day the scandal involving Zheng Zhao broke suggested there was deeper significance behind it.
"What's wrong, sister?" Xiao Cha asked, noticing Nangong Shuang's serious expression.
Nangong Shuang recounted the earlier events to Xiao Cha and added, "This is suspicious. The scandal involving Zheng Zhao just erupted, and Xiao Zhongyan comes to invite me to Xiao Mansion. Do you think it could be a trap?"

"What news?" Nangong Shuang asked, feigning ignorance.

It’s said that during his time as Executioner, he wrongfully executed an innocent old man for profit, receiving benefits from the Xiao Family! This news is spreading throughout the capital; Zheng Zhao might lose his position!"
Nangong Shuang pretended to be surprised. "Is that true? Zheng Zhao is a high-ranking official; how could he engage in such deeds?"
"Absolutely true!" Guan Chunyi exclaimed excitedly. "This morning, a servant from my house returned from the market and said he saw a notice posted on the city wall! It clearly recorded Zheng Zhao's confession, so vivid it felt like hearing it firsthand!"
Nangong Shuang felt a surge of joy within; it seemed the recording charms from the Azure Dragon Gang had worked wonders and stirred up quite a commotion in the capital.
"By the way," Guan Chunyi continued, "I heard from my father that Zheng Zhao went to Xiao Mansion early this morning seeking an audience but was turned away. Afterward, someone from the Xiao Family went to the Crown Prince's Mansion for unknown reasons."
A glint of insight flashed in Nangong Shuang's eyes: Could the Xiao Family's visit to see the Crown Prince be related to Zheng Zhao's situation? Or perhaps concerning the Nangong Family's case? Nangong Shuang shook her head. "Perhaps Madam Xiao is unwell and needs treatment."
"I doubt it," Guan Chunyi replied with a sly smile. "I think Xiao Da Gongzi specifically came to see you. Given your medical skills, it's only natural that he would take an interest in you."
At her words, Nangong Shuang felt her cheeks warm slightly and quickly responded with seriousness, "You jest, Miss. Xiao Gongzi hails from a prestigious family while I am merely a country doctor; our statuses are too disparate for there to be any such feelings."
"Oh dear, sister is shy!" Guan Chunyi giggled behind her hand. "But seriously, Xiao Gongzi is indeed talented and handsome; if you two were to become engaged, it would make for quite a lovely story!"
Nangong Shuang found herself at a loss for words and shook her head helplessly. After seeing off Guan Chunyi, Nangong Shuang stood alone by the window, gazing into the distance towards Xiao Mansion, her thoughts racing. The upcoming banquet at Xiao Mansion in three days—would it bring fortune or disaster? The wheel of fate was about to turn.
"No matter what happens, I must uncover the truth and clear the Nangong Family's name!" Nangong Shuang silently vowed within herself.
