The next morning, Xiao Cha brought more news: Zheng Zhao had been dismissed and investigated for corruption and abuse of power. Meanwhile, the Xiao Family had closed its doors to guests, seemingly preparing to address the turmoil.
“Zheng Zhao has been dismissed? So soon?” Nangong Shuang was somewhat surprised.

A complex expression flashed in Nangong Shuang's eyes: Xiao Zhongyan was indeed on the side supporting the Nangong Family. But was he doing this out of a sense of justice or for his own motives?

Nangong Shuang replied firmly, “Yes, why wouldn’t we go? It is precisely because the Xiao Family is key to the annihilation of the Nangong Family that I must delve into their lair and uncover the truth.”
She walked to the window and gazed at the distant palace, her eyes shining with determination. “Xiao Cha, this is an opportunity. Nangong Shuang took a deep breath, having made her decision: “Send word to Lan Tianxiao that I need him to discreetly assist me at the banquet in three days at Xiao Mansion. Also, prepare some special medicines just in case.”
“Sister plans to...?” Xiao Cha asked with concern.

The third day soon arrived. Nangong Shuang and Guan Chunyi dressed elegantly as they prepared to head to Xiao Mansion for the banquet. The carriage sent by Xiao Mansion stopped at Guo Residence's entrance, and the driver respectfully invited them aboard. After carefully observing for any abnormalities, Nangong Shuang boarded with Guan Chunyi.
