Nangong Shuang's heart sank; Xiao Zhongyan had explicitly acknowledged her identity as a member of the Nangong Family. It seemed there was no longer any point in hiding.

Nangong Shuang was taken aback by his fervor and asked in confusion, "Why are you so determined to find me? We only met once..."

Tears blurred Nangong Shuang's vision; those words were indeed characteristic of her father. Even in the face of annihilation, he remained concerned for their family's honor and hoped one day to clear their name.

Nangong Shuang was touched by his sincerity and found herself at a loss for words. Ten years of fleeing and enduring had made her accustomed to facing everything alone. Now that someone was willing to extend a helping hand, she didn't know whether to feel joy or caution.
"Xiao Gongzi, your father seems to have been involved in the downfall of the Nangong Family; are you not worried that he might be implicated when the truth comes out?" Nangong Shuang probed.
Xiao Zhongyan let out a bitter smile. "My father was indeed involved back then, but I believe he was manipulated by others. Regardless, the truth must come to light eventually. If he is guilty, he should bear responsibility; if he is wronged, he deserves to be vindicated."
