I arranged for my sister to pretend to be in a vegetative state and stay in the hospital, not only to show our vulnerability to Wang Jiu Ye but also to have her help me monitor the condition of Wang Jiu Ye's son.
I deliberately took on massive debt, put myself in a desperate situation, and purchased insurance, intending to exchange my life for money. I also hired a Turkey Vulture to better grasp when they might take action against me. This way, my sister and I could work together to counterattack the Turkey Vulture and use her body for a "death escape." Then we would leave this place forever.
With the five million from the insurance payout, along with the money I borrowed from Wang Jiu Ye earlier, we would have enough to start a new life anywhere. After countering the Turkey Vulture, my sister and I immediately began wrapping things up. The nurse who had been monitoring me as an informant came in to check on the situation, and we dealt with her as well. Two bodies were just enough.
After cleaning up the scene, we quickly left the hospital and found a place to hide. The next morning, for safety's sake, my sister and I decided to split up and run. She would take her luggage to the airport and wait for me while I needed to complete one more task—submitting a claim at the insurance company. As for the death certificate and other documents, they could be submitted later; the application had to go in first.
I put on makeup that even my own mother wouldn't recognize me by and headed straight for the insurance company. Under the identity of the beneficiary Lin Shuang, I submitted my claim.
I was attended to by a middle-aged man in glasses who exuded a business elite vibe. He retrieved my insurance contract and began flipping through it page by page, taking his time and examining it closely. But in the end, he accepted my application.
"Miss Lin, we still need to go through an initial approval process. I will contact you shortly. Once you submit the death certificate and related documents, we will verify everything and transfer the claim amount to your designated account," he said.
I nodded and turned to leave. Finally, it was done; next was heading to the airport to meet my sister. Just as I stepped out of the insurance company, I suddenly noticed someone across the street staring at me. It wasn't just one or two people; there were dozens of them.
Wang Jiu Ye sat in the car, rolling down the window to look at me.
He had come personally to catch me.
Wang Jiu Ye must have realized that the people who shouldn't have died were dead, and the one in a vegetative state had mysteriously disappeared. Our little game was definitely not going to stay hidden. I had known I would be discovered; I just didn't expect them to find me so quickly. It seemed that the insurance manager from earlier was indeed suspicious.
I couldn't bother with disguises anymore and leaped onto my battered motorcycle. The moment I slammed on the throttle, Wang Jiu Ye's team moved as well. I twisted the handle and shot out, with Wang Jiu Ye's people chasing after me in their car.
I made a sharp turn into a narrow alley where cars couldn't fit. Then I took a wide detour and burst back onto the main road. But soon enough, Wang Jiu Ye's men caught up again. This city was filled with his eyes; shaking off Wang Jiu Ye's people was nearly impossible.
As I saw the traffic light ahead about to change, I seized the moment and suddenly slammed on the brakes! The private car following me was startled, swerving sharply and colliding with two black cars that were tailing me, blocking half the road.
I took advantage of this chaos, accelerating down another street. Five minutes later, four or five more cars came chasing after me! Were these people mad?
And so it went, with Wang Jiu Ye's team pursuing me all the way to an abandoned factory area near the airport.
