That day, my daughter was feeling unwell. As Jiang Fan came downstairs, he casually asked, "Why hasn't Jia Jia gone to school yet?" 0

My daughter looked up and said, "Dad, I'm sick." 0

Jiang Fan paused and turned to me, "What happened?" 0

I replied, "She has the flu and we're about to go to the hospital." 0

"Is it serious?" 0

"Her fever has already gone down; it's nothing major." 0

Jiang Fan nodded, clearly relieved. 0

"Drive carefully, and call me if you need anything," he said, kissing Jia Jia goodbye before heading out the door. 0

Aunt Chen watched me from the side, her expression indicating she wanted to say something but hesitated. 0

I smiled and remained silent, urging Jia Jia to eat her breakfast quickly. 0

I understood what she was thinking. It was simply that the child was sick, yet the father seemed indifferent, only realizing it when she was almost better. This would seem abnormal in an ordinary family. But I had long since gotten used to it. So used to it that it no longer mattered. 0

After gathering our things, I took Jia Jia to the hospital. On the way, we encountered a car accident. A car in front of us suddenly blew its engine, causing a chain reaction with three vehicles colliding behind it. I was the fourth car and managed to brake in time, narrowly avoiding any trouble. 0

I initially thought about turning around but unexpectedly spotted Jiang Fan's car—the one he said he lent to a friend. 0

I had asked him before whom he lent it to. He replied, "You don't know them." 0

That answer was quite interesting. If I didn't know the person, it surely meant our relationship wasn't deep. And if our relationship wasn't deep, how could he lend them the car? But I didn't press further, thinking I was easy to deceive. 0

Now it seems he really lied. The person getting out of the car was someone I recognized. Although I had only seen her once, I remembered her name—Yang Fang! 0

Yang Fang anxiously checked the condition of the car and then started making a phone call. For some reason, I felt that this call was meant for Jiang Fan. 0

"Jia Jia, why don't you watch a cartoon in the car for a bit? We'll go to the hospital later, okay?" 0

My daughter nodded obediently, "Okay, Mom." 0

I parked the car aside and waited. 0

In less than half an hour, a black SUV sped over. A man got out holding a jacket. Yang Fang stumbled over like she had seen a savior. The man supported her, draped the jacket over her shoulders, and led her into the car. 0

I lost interest in watching what happened next. 0

"Jia Jia, sit tight; we're going to the hospital." 0

I had only seen Yang Fang once. But even before meeting her, I had already heard her name mentioned. Her name was always linked with Jiang Fan, accompanied by tales of romance and intrigue. 0

To be honest, it had been a long time since anyone dared to approach Jiang Fan. 0

Firstly, Jiang Fan was known for his integrity. Secondly, he shared a deep bond with his wife. There was once someone who foolishly tried to get close to him, and not only did Jiang Fan sever all ties with that person, but he also gave him a good beating. 0

“If my wife misunderstands this, I’ll make sure to beat you to a pulp!” 0

Since then, no one dared to have any designs on Jiang Fan. 0

However, recently, someone had begun to harbor ill intentions again. 0

“I guess they thought after so many years of marriage and with the kids growing up, President Jiang might get confused. Little did they know they were mistaken,” said Mrs. Wang, the wife of President Wang. 0

She recounted how that night had been particularly eventful. A young girl selling liquor was wrapped in a blanket and sent into the room, much like an emperor favoring a concubine in ancient times. They believed that any normal man would succumb to such temptation. 0

But Jiang Fan came out in less than five minutes. His face was stern, exuding an air of low pressure. 0

“He first called his assistant to buy the girl some clothes and then had the assistant send her home. After that, he went back to settle accounts.” 0

He stormed into the manager's office and gave him a beating. Then he reported the incident as solicitation and had everyone arrested. In the end, he terminated all collaborations with that company. 0

Mrs. Wang expressed both envy and admiration: “President Jiang has always been so steadfast!” 0

I smiled politely at her, but inside, I felt a quiet sinking sensation. 0
