An Nuan took a taxi to Xinghui Entertainment Company. As soon as she stepped out, she noticed Shuo Shuo anxiously scanning the surroundings.
When Shuo Shuo spotted her, she hurried over, grabbed her arm, and pulled her inside. An Nuan was puzzled. "What's wrong, Shuo Shuo?"
"Don't ask, just come in with me first!"
Shuo Shuo was not only her agent but also a close friend. Naturally, she was concerned for An Nuan and always had her best interests at heart. So, An Nuan refrained from asking further questions and followed Shuo Shuo to the general manager's office.
Shuo Shuo paused outside the door, took a deep breath, and knocked.
"Knock, knock, knock—"
Three knocks echoed in the hallway, but there was no response.
Shuo Shuo knocked three more times, this time more forcefully. Just as she was about to call out, An Nuan raised a hand and pressed it down on Shuo Shuo's arm. "Stop knocking. Ye Meiqi isn't here."
"How do you know?" Shuo Shuo turned to An Nuan, her heart already racing with anxiety at the calmness of her friend.
"Are you telling me you haven't heard anything? You've been shelved by the company; don't you know?" Shuo Shuo had just received the news herself, which was why she had called An Nuan without any explanation, hoping they could find a solution together. But looking at An Nuan, she seemed completely unfazed.
"I know. Ye Meiqi told me herself yesterday."
"What?" Shuo Shuo exclaimed in disbelief. "How is that possible? Didn't Ye Meiqi always have high hopes for you? She was the one who said she'd strongly promote you before. How could she just... when you were finally ready to make a splash—"
"She wasn't interested in me; her attention was solely on Xiao Ruoyu. But before she could even approach me, I caught them together in bed. Mortified and furious, she decided to blacklist me!" An Nuan recounted lightly, even finding humor in recalling Xiao Ruoyu's panicked expression from earlier.
However, Shuo Shuo stared at An Nuan with wide eyes, her face reflecting sheer horror.
"You mean... they were having an affair, and you caught them in the act?" The latter part of her sentence was practically a scream.
An Nuan quickly covered Shuo Shuo's mouth with her hand. "Lower your voice! Aren't we miserable enough already?" She hadn't anticipated Ye Meiqi's swift actions. What she had said yesterday was put into practice today, indicating that Xiao Ruoyu had satisfied her to the point where she couldn't bear to let him go.
"So what are you going to do? If the company won't promote you and won't terminate your contract... Don't forget, you signed a ten-year contract! After ten years, you'll be over thirty, no longer a young girl. Or... why not just sleep with our big boss?"
"Big boss?" An Nuan looked at Shuo Shuo in confusion. "What big boss? Isn't Xinghui Company owned by Ye Meiqi's family?"
"Yes, it's her family's, but the major shareholder and chairman isn't from the Ye family!" Lan Shuo Shuo pursed her lips, patting An Nuan's shoulder dismissively. "As long as you can connect with the big boss, we two sisters can rise like phoenixes. Then would we still fear Ye Meiqi? By then, you won't even want that scumbag Xiao Ruoyu anymore. What a piece of garbage! I knew he wasn't good from the start, but you wouldn't listen to me, rushing in headfirst like a heated razor. Now look, you've been fooled!"
Lan Shuo Shuo's scolding was laced with impatience; her face showed exasperated disappointment. She was genuinely both angry and heartbroken for An Nuan. They had come here right after graduation—An Nuan pursuing an artist's path while she became an agent. Shuo Shuo had witnessed firsthand how hard An Nuan worked and how much she sacrificed for that scumbag. In the end, not only was he ungrateful, but he also cheated. She truly wanted to smash Xiao Ruoyu's head open to see what was inside and dig out his heart and liver to check if they were black.
Scumbag! Shuo Shuo cursed him vehemently in her heart. An Nuan hugged Shuo Shuo tightly. "I know you mean well for me, but Shuo Shuo, you also need to consider reality. Do you think the big boss would be interested in someone like me?"
Shuo Shuo looked An Nuan up and down a few times before finally saying with disappointment, "Pretty enough, but lacking allure. Forget it. Let's think of something more realistic!"
As they spoke, their eyes met and they burst into laughter.
Just as they were about to leave, the elevator doors suddenly opened, revealing Ye Meiqi and Xiao Ruoyu stepping out together. Ye Meiqi glanced at An Nuan and sneered, "So you're here. Coincidentally, I have a supporting female role for you. Consider it a reward for just now telling me about his past disgraces!"
