"Could she really be that kind-hearted?"
As Ye Meiqi and Xiao Ruoyu entered the office, Lan Shuo Shuo raised her voice in doubt.
An Nuan quickly grabbed Shuo Shuo's arm. "Don't act on impulse. We'll find out if it's true or not."
"Find out? Where can we go to check? I'm your manager, and if I don't know about it, where would you ask?"
Shuo Shuo was exasperated. She really wanted to pry open An Nuan's mind to see what was going on in there. Her boyfriend had been taken away by someone else, yet she could still calmly seize the opportunity. Should she commend her for being proactive, or was it more accurate to say she was enduring humiliation? Or perhaps it was simply that her mind was a bit off.
"Shuo Shuo, I have no capital to resist."
Shuo Shuo understood well what kind of situation An Nuan was in.
Upon hearing An Nuan say this, Shuo Shuo fell silent.
"Hey, Nuan Nuan, don't worry. No matter how difficult it gets, I'll be here for you."
Shuo Shuo patted An Nuan on the shoulder and leaned her forehead against hers. Nuan Nuan smiled and reached up to rub Shuo Shuo's shoulder. "Shuo Shuo, I know you're looking out for me. I've never doubted our friendship, but if there's a chance, I hope you can leave this place. There's no need for you to waste time with me."
"What nonsense are you talking about? Am I that kind of person?"
Shuo Shuo shouted angrily, while An Nuan looked at her helplessly. "That's not what I mean, but if you stay here with me…"
"Stop talking; I'm not listening."
Shuo Shuo shook her head in annoyance, resembling a rattle drum.
Nuan Nuan furrowed her brows, wanting to say something when Shuo Shuo's phone rang.
"Shuo Shuo, your phone," Nuan Nuan reminded softly.
Shuo Shuo glanced at the phone and shot a fierce glare at Nuan Nuan, as if to say, "If you keep talking about that nonsense, I won't play with you anymore."
Though Nuan Nuan felt helpless, she couldn't help but chuckle at Shuo Shuo's expression.
With a playful wink, she made an "okay" gesture under Shuo Shuo's threatening gaze. Only then did Shuo Shuo give her a disgruntled look, as if to say she would let it slide this time, but if there was a next time... Shuo Shuo couldn't resist waving her hand in mock threat, and Nuan Nuan nodded repeatedly.
In the midst of their interaction, a sarcastic voice came from the phone. "Lan Shuo Shuo, you really are something. Even after your master got blacklisted, you still managed to get an opportunity. I underestimated you."
"Get to the point. If you have something to say, spit it out. I don't have time for your nonsense," Shuo Shuo snapped back, her tone sharp and explosive. If it weren't for Nuan Nuan desperately wanting this chance, she would never have agreed to it. Honestly, even if she went along with it, what difference would it make? As long as Ye Meiqi and Xiao Ruoyu were around, Nuan Nuan could forget about having an easy time.
Once this opportunity passed, where would the next one come from?
Besides, she didn't believe for a second that Ye Meiqi, that little vixen who stole men, would have any good intentions.
In fact, she probably wished she could strangle Nuan Nuan.
“Ha, Lan Shuo Shuo, I wonder how long you can keep up this arrogance!”
The woman let out a cold snort and then mocked, “In five minutes, downstairs in the lobby. Come if you dare!”
With that, the line went dead, leaving only the sound of a dial tone.
Shuo Shuo stared at the phone and huffed in annoyance, “What’s there to be so proud of? In front of your master, you’re nothing but a dog!”
“Alright, don’t worry about her too much. We only have five minutes!”
Nuan Nuan grabbed Shuo Shuo's arm and hurriedly made her way downstairs.
After taking a couple of steps, Shuo Shuo suddenly pulled Nuan Nuan back and stood in front of Ye Meiqi's office door, deliberately raising her voice, “Nuan Nuan, even though this scumbag hasn’t completely crossed the line yet and at least gave you a chance, I’m telling you, if you dare to get involved with him again, I’ll break your legs! I’ve told you before that I saw him dining with our company’s top girl and their relationship was… let’s just say it wasn’t innocent. You didn’t believe me then, and now look where it got you—fooled! You really need to be more aware!”
As she spoke, Shuo Shuo covered her mouth and chuckled.
Nuan Nuan stomped her foot in exasperation and whispered, “Okay, let’s go!”
Meanwhile, the atmosphere inside the office had already been tense, and it only grew worse.
Ye Meiqi glared coldly at the trembling and furious Xiao Ruoyu and finally couldn’t hold back her anger any longer. “Xiao Ruoyu, how many more of your affairs are you hiding from me?”
