"You're a little bastard! I'm your biological father! Who taught you to speak to me like that?" 0

My uncle and Second Brother stepped forward, blocking him. My silent older brother pulled me behind him protectively. 0

My birth mother, suppressing her displeasure, forced a smile. "Xiao Qiang is your own brother; it's only right for you to help him." 0

"Mom had no choice back then; I'm apologizing to you now, alright?" As she spoke, she actually knelt down. 0

If she went through with it today, my reputation would be ruined forever. The villagers would surely moralize and force me to acknowledge my roots. I would never be able to shake off this disgusting family. 0

I was so furious that my eyes turned red, wishing I could just stab that wicked woman. 0

At that moment, Aunt rushed forward and grabbed my mother's hair, tumbling with her. "Ma Yufen, stop with this nonsense!" 0

"I've been holding back for Shi Shi's sake, but you're just too shameless." 0

"You treat me and your brother like fools! After all the hard work raising your daughter, now that it's time to reap the rewards, you want to take her back home?" 0

"Dream on!" 0

"All of Shi Shi's bride price will go to me; her earnings are mine too. I've raised her for over a decade; that's what I deserve." 0

"If you want to take her back, fine. Give me a hundred thousand upfront, and I'll return your daughter!" 0

The onlookers finally reacted and rushed forward to separate the two women. Aunt sat on the ground, wailing loudly. 0

"My life has been so bitter. After marrying into the Lin family, I've worked myself to the bone for so many years. First, the old lady bullied me, and now my Sister-in-law is plotting against me..." 0

She cried out about all the sacrifices she had made for me over the years. When I was seven, I had a high fever and fainted. In the dead of winter, she ran barefoot for five miles to find a village doctor. When I was ten, during a heavy rainstorm, she came to pick me up from school. On the way back, the water rose, and she nearly got swept away while carrying me on her back. The scar from where a branch scraped my leg still remains. 0

During those years in junior high, she managed over ten acres of land almost entirely by herself just to earn a bit more money to help pay for my tuition. In high school, she worked on construction sites under the scorching noon sun, wearing a straw hat to pick up nails and sell scrap. 0

"I raised you with all my heart and soul, and you say you can just take her away?" 0

"What kind of life is left for me? I'd rather die!" 0

The crowd gasped in shock at her words. I felt pale as well. While everyone comforted my Aunt, they also began to scold my birth mother in unison: 0

"You heartless woman! You won’t be satisfied until you drive your sister-in-law to death, will you?" 0

"For over a decade, you haven’t cared for Shi Shi or taken responsibility—why do you think you can just take her back now?" 0

"If you really cared about her, why didn’t you do something sooner?" 0

My birth mother remained stubborn: 0

"She’s my own flesh and blood... I still can’t bear to part with her..." 0

"Nonsense!" My uncle's face turned red with anger. "Are you reluctant to let her go as a person or are you just worried about losing her future earnings? You know in your heart!" 0

"If you keep plotting like this, this place will no longer be your family home." 0

My mother’s expression froze as she looked at my uncle in disbelief. He usually had a good temper and was a few years older than her, always being very accommodating. 0

She licked her lips and finally placed her hopes on me. "Shi Shi, I was wrong in the past. Now that I recognize you again, it's also to help lighten your uncle's burden." 0

"We'll take care of your college tuition together with your father. Your older brother isn't making money playing video games, and Second Brother still has to prepare for graduate school. Your uncle Aunt has such a heavy load." 0

I scoffed. "What about the tuition fees?" 0

My mother awkwardly replied, "Isn't tuition something you can take out a loan for?" 0

You see, she had calculated everything so clearly. 0
