The days ahead were bound to be filled with turmoil.
How easy could it be to please a Financier? Did she truly want to go through with it?
Looking out at the flickering neon lights, the vibrant colors of the city dazzled the eyes, but beneath this beauty lay a cost that no one could imagine.
To survive here, she had gradually lowered her own standards.
From now on...
“Lu An Nuan, you have no choice.”
She gasped as the cold night air stung her cheeks. Gripping the window frame tightly, her nails dug into her palms, and the veins on her hands bulged. Finally, she managed a wry smile before resolutely turning away. Without any backing, she could only accept her fate; this was Lu An Nuan's life.
She reminded herself to take one step at a time.
Exiting the room, she followed the arrows leading to the emergency exit and pushed through the heavy door to the upper floor. By the time she stood in front of room 8809, her heart felt like ice.
To gain something, one must inevitably pay a price.
Not wanting to endure this humiliation any longer, she had no choice but to sell herself.
Raising her hand, she knocked on the door, but there was no response from within.
She knocked again.
By the third time, she had already resigned herself to the fact that no one would answer. Thoughts of wanting to escape began to creep into her mind. She silently counted down, thinking that if no one opened the door by the time she reached ten, she would leave.
But just as she was about to turn away, the door suddenly swung open.
Peering through the crack, she saw nothing but darkness inside. An Nuan cautiously pushed the door open and stepped in, her feet sinking into the soft carpet. Instinctively, she leaned against the wall, but before she could gather her thoughts, the door slammed shut behind her with a loud bang. A firm grip seized her wrist, and with a powerful tug, she found herself enveloped in a strong embrace.
"Y-You let go of me..."
"To come here and steal? You have quite a lot of nerve."
"I-I’m not here to steal anything."
A cold voice filled with menace echoed around her, causing An Nuan to panic and instinctively try to retreat. Her heart raced; it was her first time doing something like this, and she had no experience at all—her mind was a blur. She didn’t even realize if this voice sounded familiar.
"Not here to steal a person then?"
The man asked with a mocking tone. An Nuan’s mind short-circuited; in her flustered state, she shook her head vigorously and blurted out, "No, no, no! I’m not here to steal anyone; I’m here to... infiltrate you."
In her panic, those words slipped out without thought.
Silence fell above her; it seemed he was taken aback.
An Nuan instinctively tried to break free, cursing herself for being so timid that she had become a mess at his mere scare. Now that he had stated his intentions so clearly, wouldn’t he just kick her out?
Just as she expected to be thrown out, a low chuckle suddenly echoed above her. In an instant, her body felt weightless as her hands instinctively wrapped around his neck, causing An Nuan to gasp in fright.
“What... what are you going to do?”
“Well, since you’ve been so direct, how could I possibly refuse your kind offer?”
In the pitch-black room, the man carried her effortlessly into the bedroom and tossed her onto the large bed. His strong body pressed down on her, leaving no room for resistance.
Last time it was due to drunkenness; this time, her senses were all too clear.
For an entire night, there was no pause. It felt as if he was venting his frustrations, and several times he caused her pain.
The next day, An Nuan opened her eyes, feeling more exhausted than before.
Carefully trying to move his arm from around her waist, she found that it only tightened further. Curious if he was awake, she tilted her head to look at him, and in that moment, An Nuan was left speechless.
