Shuo Shuo hurriedly hung up the phone, as if trying to hide something.
Before the call ended, she seemed to hear someone calling her, and that voice sounded strangely familiar.
Holding her phone, a sudden feeling of loss washed over her.
It was actually a good thing that Shuo Shuo went home, wasn't it? At this moment, returning home was certainly better than staying at the company and continuing to endure grievances beside her.
The car had already started moving without her noticing. An Nuan gazed out at the passing scenery, suddenly feeling a wave of loneliness and helplessness.
Could she really succeed?
In the past, at least Shuo Shuo had encouraged her, but now…
In front of the house in Haoge Community, Di Ming switched the shopping bags from one hand to the other and took out a key. “Young Lady, this is from Ye Shao.”
“Just call me An Nuan.”
The title "Young Lady" felt strange to her.
She had been called "Miss" by servants before, but it was still better than being addressed as "Madam." She hadn’t even figured out her relationship with Ye Yunfeng yet.
“Alright then, An Nuan.”
Di Ming rubbed his nose and couldn’t help but glance at An Nuan’s back. Did she even realize how many people longed for the title of "Lady Ye"? Take Chu Linghua from the Chu Family for example; she had waited so long, yet Ye Shao never solidified that title for her.
And now, he had already gotten a marriage certificate with Lu An Nuan, while she remained completely unaware of what kind of person she had married.
The world is truly wondrous.
Some things are desperately sought after by some, yet become trivial and unimportant in the eyes of others, even drawing indifference.
With intent to plant willows, they do not thrive; without intent, willows provide shade.
An Nuan entered the kitchen and sifted through two large bags of ingredients, selecting the simplest items. She first steamed a bit of rice, then washed the tomatoes and seasonal vegetables.
"Are you eating here?" An Nuan asked politely, thinking to herself that it was unlikely. With Ye Yunfeng's cold face, anyone would feel nauseous just looking at him. Moreover, he had threatened his subordinates with dismissal, and she certainly did not plan to make him any crawfish or steak. So, she hoped Di Ming would leave soon to avoid Ye Yunfeng's anger being directed at him.
"Me?" Di Ming pointed at himself and quickly shook his head.
"I'll leave once Ye Shao returns."
"Alright, then I won't make anything for you," An Nuan replied, turning on the stove to prepare the dishes. Di Ming looked at the remaining items in the two shopping bags on the floor, feeling a chill in his heart.
"An Nuan, are you just going to stir-fry two dishes?"
If Ye Shao returned now, would he be immediately dismissed?
"There's one more soup."
An Nuan said sincerely, as the egg in her hand expanded in the hot oil. The spatula moved in the pan, chopping the egg into pieces, and her serious demeanor made it clear she wasn't joking. Di Ming leaned against the edge of the kitchen, feeling on the verge of tears.
"An Nuan, you can't do this to me. If I fail to complete my task..."
"Don't worry, just leave now, I guarantee you won't be fired."
"Really?"
Di Ming asked suspiciously, wondering if she really had a plan.
Ye Shao was not someone easily fooled.
"You could also wait for Ye Yunfeng to come back. I assure you that the outcome won't be better than if you leave now."
"Cough cough!"
Di Ming adjusted his tie and cleared his throat, then stood up straight and walked out as if he were slipping away. An Nuan was right; as an outsider, it was difficult for him to speak freely among the couple. If he left, they would surely open up. Who knows, maybe after a fight at the head of the bed, they would make up by the foot of it, and Ye Shao's temper would have cooled down?
Thinking this, he quickened his pace. Little did he know...
