At three in the afternoon, Su Yao returned to the set.
From a distance, she spotted Lin Yue sitting in front of the monitor. The cool profile illuminated by the screen's glow appeared exceptionally exquisite, like a celestial being untouched by the mundane world. Su Yao paused, quietly observing her. A warm current surged within her—my girl is truly enchanting.
As if sensing her gaze, Lin Yue turned her head. In that moment of eye contact, the coldness in Lin Yue's eyes melted away, replaced by a gentle smile. She waved at Su Yao with an uncommon playfulness.
Su Yao hurried over, and the staff had already keenly pulled a chair for her. The two sat quietly together, occasionally Lin Yue would lean in to whisper her thoughts about the shots into Su Yao's ear. The warm breath brushed against her earlobe, causing Su Yao's heart to race out of rhythm.
"Cut! That take was good!" Director Li called out with satisfaction.
Su Yao stood up, preparing to greet Director Li, but just as she was about to speak—
"Su Yao! Great! You agreed to take—"
"Director Li!" Su Yao quickly interrupted him, gesturing for him to look towards Lin Yue.
Director Li instantly understood and awkwardly changed his words: "Uh, well... you go prepare for the afternoon scenes first."
Su Yao sighed in relief and turned to take Lin Yue's hand. "Will you accompany me to the makeup room?"
In the makeup room, makeup artist Xiao Li was organizing her tools. Upon seeing Lin Yue enter, Xiao Li's eyes lit up instantly. "Oh my gosh! President Lin! I finally get to see you up close today!"
"You look even more stunning in person!" Xiao Li exclaimed without holding back her excitement.
Lin Yue smiled awkwardly. "Thank you."
"I told you, you two are such a perfect match standing together!" Xiao Li continued to compliment them.
Su Yao blushed and pretended to be angry as she glared at Xiao Li. "Why are you so chatty today? Hurry up and do my makeup."
"Okay, okay!" Xiao Li chuckled as she picked up a makeup sponge.
Lin Yue watched Su Yao getting made up from the side, a smile unconsciously tugging at the corners of her mouth.
The afternoon shoot went exceptionally smoothly. Perhaps it was because Lin Yue was present, but Su Yao was in particularly high spirits today. Almost every take was perfect on the first try, and even Director Li couldn't help but praise her.
After wrapping up, Su Yao naturally followed Lin Yue into the car. "Where do you want to go later?" Lin Yue asked while fastening her seatbelt. "Your place," Su Yao replied without hesitation. "I want to spend some time alone with you."
Lin Yue felt a warmth in her heart, a mischievous smile flickering in her eyes. "Alright."
When they arrived at Lin Yue's home, as soon as they stepped inside, Lin Yue scooped Su Yao up in her arms. "Hey! Lin Yue!" Su Yao exclaimed, her legs flailing in the air. Lin Yue strode towards the bedroom, her eyes filled with unmistakable desire.
"Put me down!" Su Yao's face turned as red as a ripe apple. "I still need to go to the hospital to accompany my mom later!"
Lin Yue paused, realizing that her actions had gotten a bit out of control. "I'm sorry," she quickly set Su Yao down. "I was too impulsive."
In truth, she didn't understand why she lost her composure every time she touched Su Yao. Su Yao took her hand and led her to the sofa, then comfortably nestled into Lin Yue's embrace.
"Actually... there's something I want to tell you," Su Yao said softly.
Lin Yue gently rubbed her face against Su Yao's hair, inhaling that familiar scent. "What is it?"
"Ye Lan wants to adapt 'Moonlight City' into a movie, and she invited me to be the female lead."
Lin Yue's movements froze for a moment as she simply responded with a faint "oh."
Su Yao quickly sensed the shift in Lin Yue's mood and sat up from her embrace. "'Moonlight City' tells the story of a modern woman who travels back to an ancient foreign land." Her eyes sparkled with excitement as she spoke.
"The female lead establishes her own business empire during the Siam Dynasty and encounters two completely different men."
"In the end, she chooses the man who silently supports her career."
"I really like the female lead in this book; she's independent and strong, never relying on anyone."
"If I can play this role, I would be so happy!"
Seeing the spark in Su Yao's eyes, Lin Yue's jealousy was instantly replaced by tenderness. She gently kissed the corner of Su Yao's lips and said, "I support you; as long as you're happy, that's all that matters."
Su Yao was momentarily dazed by the unexpected kiss. She climbed onto Lin Yue's lap, wrapping her arms around her neck. "Do you really support me?" Su Yao asked, leaning closer to Lin Yue's lips.
Their chests pressed tightly together, their breaths quickening. Lin Yue didn't respond verbally; instead, she expressed her feelings through action. She kissed Su Yao deeply, her hands sliding from Su Yao's back to her waist, savoring the perfect curve.
Su Yao shivered in response to the kiss, her fingers tangling in Lin Yue's short hair. The temperature on the sofa rose rapidly, their breaths echoing clearly in the living room. Lin Yue's kisses traveled from Su Yao's lips to her earlobe, gently nibbling on that soft spot.
"Mm..." Su Yao let out a soft tremor, instinctively pressing herself closer. Just as the atmosphere thickened, Su Yao suddenly breathed urgently into Lin Yue's ear, "Lin Yue... I really have to go to the hospital to be with my mom later."
Desire still flickered in Lin Yue's eyes, but she obediently released her hold. "By the way, there's something else I haven't mentioned," Su Yao said as she adjusted her disheveled clothes. "The filming location is in Thailand, so I might have to travel back and forth frequently."
Lin Yue responded with a simple "Oh." Then, as if recalling something, she raised an eyebrow and asked, "Does that mean you'll be spending nights out with Ye Lan?"
Su Yao burst into laughter. "Yes, I will be spending nights out, but not together! Come on!" She lifted Lin Yue's chin and pecked her lips lightly. "I really love how cute you look when you're jealous."
Lin Yue's face flushed slightly as she turned away and fell silent. "It's getting late; I really have to go," Su Yao said, glancing at her watch before getting off Lin Yue's lap.
"I'll take you to the hospital; I need to head back to the office anyway." Lin Yue stood up. "Lu Chen is back in the country and waiting for me at the company."
Hearing Lu Chen's name, Su Yao visibly froze for a moment. After a few seconds of silence, she asked, "So... Jiang Rou is back too?"
Lin Yue noticed the tension in her voice and quickly replied, "Jiang Rou hasn't returned; only Lu Chen is back."
Su Yao nodded thoughtfully.
In the car, Su Yao remained quiet. Lin Yue held her hand while driving. "Are you still worried that Jiang Rou will come back?"
"Yeah." Su Yao nodded honestly.
Lin Yue gently stroked the back of her hand with her thumb. "Even if she comes back, it won't change anything. No one can stop us from being together; no one can."
Her voice was soft, but each word was firm. "Trust me."
Su Yao tightened her grip on Lin Yue's hand and lightly kissed the back of it. "Okay, I trust you."
When they arrived at the hospital, just as Su Yao was about to get out of the car, Lin Yue called out to her.
"If your mom needs anything, make sure to let me know."
Su Yao nodded.
"And," Lin Yue paused for a moment, "I want to meet Ye Lan."
Su Yao chuckled and pinched Lin Yue's cheek playfully. "Alright, my jealous little one."
When Lin Yue returned to the office, Lu Chen was sitting on the sofa in her office waiting for her.
It had only been a few days since they last saw each other, but it felt like they had been apart for much longer.
Seeing each other brought a slightly awkward joy.
Lin Yue sat down on another sofa, her fingers tapping nervously on the armrest as she waited for Lu Chen to speak.
"How has it been since you returned?" Lu Chen's voice was somewhat tentative.
"Finally able to catch my breath," Lin Yue replied lightly.
Lu Chen smiled wryly. "What are your plans moving forward?"
