I'm so busy right now, and I get scolded every day.
I've started to doubt my own abilities.
I want to prove myself, but the process is really not easy.
Zhou Chenyu just doesn't want me to suffer.
I guess I'm doing what I love now, but am I really happy?
It seems not.
Zhou Chenyu gently touched my face, still as tender as before.
I nestled into his embrace.
He held me for a while before suddenly letting go to get dressed.
"What are you going to do?"
"I'm going out to buy some things."
So sudden?
He returned quickly.
Uh...
He probably doesn't want to end up like Yin Cheng and Li Xiang, having a child before getting married.
Zhou Chenyu touched my belly and asked with a smile, "Really not pregnant?"
I shot him a glare, "Who would I be pregnant with? Don't talk nonsense."
He actually listened.
"So you came here just for this?"
The next morning at breakfast, Zhou Chenyu asked me with a smile.
Seeing his sly expression made me angry.
This cunning man.
"I don't know who it is, pretending and even rejecting me—what a hypocrite."
Zhou Chenyu laughed heartily, "This really isn't fair. You change your mind every moment; how am I supposed to know if you'll regret it later?"
"Yes, yes, it's all my fault. Is that enough for you?" I rolled my eyes. "If I had known, I wouldn't have come."
"You see? I told you so," Zhou Chenyu said with a helpless yet affectionate smile.
I huffed, "Am I not allowed to say whatever I want? You love to nitpick at me so much that I’ll have to draft my words beforehand to avoid any mistakes?"
Zhou Chenyu handed me a glass of milk. "Drink this."
"Yes, Dad."
"What did you say?" Zhou Chenyu's eyes lit up.
This guy is really...
"Pervert!"
"What’s wrong with me?"
"You're just a pervert."
With things still unresolved on his end, I had to head back first. He drove me to the High-Speed Rail Station.
"Remember to call me when you get off. Don't go back to your place tonight; come to my house instead. Let me know when you arrive..."
"I know, I know. You've said it several times already." I pushed him away impatiently. "Just go back already."
Zhou Chenyu chuckled, "Alright then, I'm leaving. Bye-bye."
"Wait." I grabbed his arm and stood on my tiptoes to give him a quick kiss.
Seeing his ears turn red, I felt a sense of satisfaction as I got into the car.
He stood there, smiling and waving.
I blew him a kiss through the car window as we drove away, gradually losing sight of Zhou Chenyu.
He bought a ticket just to see me, and ended up staying for such a short time. Yet, I still felt a sweet warmth in my heart. He hadn’t changed in these two years, which was wonderful. So why should I waste these two years?
On Monday, I went back to work and got scolded by my boss again. I really couldn’t understand why he looked down on me.
“What are you staring at me for? Not satisfied? If you’re not happy, why don’t you take this supervisor position and fire me?”
He knew very well how much I wanted that position.
“Why don’t you just sit tight? I’m young and not in a hurry. I’ll take the proposal home to revise it.”
I walked out holding my folder.
I wasn’t angry.
And there was Zhou Chenyu. Just thinking about our reconciliation filled me with joy, making all my anger dissipate.
I stayed up all night revising the proposal again, this time at home. Suddenly, the doorbell rang. I hurried to check, and when I looked through the peephole, I immediately opened the door and threw myself into Zhou Chenyu’s arms.
“Get down, I’m cold,” he said as he stepped inside and closed the door.
Noticing I was barefoot on the floor, he added, “You’re not wearing shoes or socks? Hurry up and put them on!”
He started scolding me right away.
“It’s so late and you’re still not asleep?” His tone sounded like he was blaming me.
