"What’s up? I was bored, just wanted to tell a story to lighten the mood," the frightening instigator said with a face full of justification. 0

"Can you tell a different story then?" 0

"Hmm? What do you want me to talk about? Snow White? Cinderella?" 0

"Anything is fine..." 0

Xia Xihe suddenly had a flash of inspiration and said, "Oh right, can you talk about your family?" 0

"Oh?" 0

"As long as it’s not about your dad... Every time Yan Yulong brings up his father, it’s always something strange and terrifying. Xia Xihe didn’t want to endure that again." 0

"What do you want to know?" 0

"Well... I saw a photo of your older brother with your mom..." 0

"Yeah." 0

"That painting is of your mom, right? She’s really beautiful..." 0

"Probably, but I’ve never seen her. She passed away shortly after I was born." Yan Yulong stated flatly, his emotions showing little fluctuation. 0

"Don’t you... miss her?" Xia Xihe asked, puzzled. 0

"Come on, I was just a baby when she died. How could I miss her?" 0

"That’s true..." Xia Xihe muttered to himself, "But... your dad hung her portrait right in the center of the room... She must be very important to him..." 0

"Haha..." Yan Yulong sneered, "In the mind of Old bastard, the only thing that matters is himself." 0

"Why do you say that... he's your dad, right..." 0

"What? Didn't you say you didn't want to hear about my dad? Why bring it up again?" 0

"Oh right..." As they were talking, they arrived at a set of descending stairs, and Yan Yulong smiled proudly. 0

"Stairs have appeared, which means we haven't taken a wrong turn." Yan Yulong reminded, "It's very dark below, be careful and follow me." 0

"Oh..." Xia Xihe cautiously followed him down. 0

There were no lights at the bottom of the stairs; it was so dark that they couldn't see their hands in front of their faces. They could only move carefully, searching for the edge of the steps, and they couldn't chat along the way. 0

As they approached the last step, the surroundings finally brightened up again. They descended the stairs and continued forward. After walking a few hundred meters, they finally saw a door ahead. 0

Xia Xihe exclaimed in delight, "Is that the exit?" 0

"Yeah..." Yan Yulong, however, did not show any joy; his expression was somewhat serious as he instructed, "Stay behind me." 0

Xia Xihe obediently followed behind him. Yan Yulong tentatively pushed the door and found it locked. 0

"Step back a bit," he said. Xia Xihe moved back. Yan Yulong took half a step back, steadied his stance, aimed at the doorknob, and kicked it! 0

The wooden door was kicked open with a loud bang, and a blinding light poured out. Xia Xihe squinted her eyes and after a moment finally adjusted to the change in light. 0

When she clearly saw the scene outside the door, Xia Xihe was left speechless in shock. 0

Outside the door was a giant greenhouse, and the first thing that caught the eye was a vast array of green ornamental plants. These plants varied in height, from the knee-high Cyclamen and Golden Bud Flower to the half-human-sized Pothos and Agave, and even towering Palm Trees and Aesculus, with flower baskets draped in Ivy hanging from above. 0

The light and temperature here were quite pleasant, reminiscent of an early spring morning. The soft atmosphere of the greenhouse formed a stark contrast to the eerie tunnel just a door away. 0

"Mr. Yan... this... this is..." 0

"Don't worry about anything, don't look at anything, just follow me," Yan Yulong said domineeringly as he pulled the still-dazed Xia Xihe into the greenhouse. 0

That said, it was simply inhumane to ask Xia Xihe not to look at anything in such a magical place. The greenhouse seemed to simulate a courtyard landscape, with soft grass underfoot. Not only were there various ornamental plants, but there were also Western-style gazebos and small fountains. Some branches held meticulously crafted birdcages filled with precious birds, while butterflies danced among the flowers. 0

Is this really indoors? The more Xia Xihe looked, the more stunned she became, almost thinking she was dreaming. 0

Yan Yulong, however, had no time to enjoy the scenery. He held Xia Xihe's hand and pushed through layers of green leaves in search of an exit. Judging by his increasingly furrowed brow, it seemed he was not having much luck. 0

As Xia Xihe was dragged along, her eyes wandered uncontrollably. When they passed by a row of lush elms, she caught a glimpse of something unusual through the gaps in the leaves—a large white bed draped with a canopy, where a person dressed in a pure white robe sat on the edge. Judging by his tall figure, he should be a man, but his hair reached down to his waist. 0

"Mr. Yan, it looks like someone is over there..." Xia Xihe timidly spoke up. Yan Yulong suddenly stopped and followed her gaze. 0

The man sitting on the bed noticed them too and turned his head. 0

As soon as Xia Xihe saw his face, she gasped in shock; he looked exactly like Yan Yulong's mother! There was no mistake! 0

Xia Xihe recognized the beauty mark under his left eye; aside from looking slightly older, his features and expression were identical to those in the portrait she had seen! 0

What on earth is happening? 0

"Y... Mr. Yan... he... he is..." Xia Xihe stammered, unable to articulate her thoughts as the man stared blankly back at them. 0

Yan Yulong cursed under his breath, "Damn it!" and pulled Xia Xihe along as they sprinted away, startling a few small birds resting in the bushes. Xia Xihe followed him in a daze, the layers of green leaves rushing past him. 0

Suddenly, a dark figure jumped out from the side and swiftly grabbed Xia Xihe. Xia Xihe let out a scream as he was yanked backward by the grip around his neck. Yan Yulong, who was running ahead, felt an emptiness in his hand and turned to see that Xia Xihe had already fallen into the hands of the assailant. 0

"Ugh..." Xia Xihe could barely breathe. When he looked up, he was shocked to see that it was Yan Junhong who had captured him. 0

"Dad!" Yan Yulong was about to rush over when Yan Junhong unexpectedly pulled out a small military knife. Realizing the danger, he immediately stopped in his tracks. 0

Yan Junhong pressed the blade against Xia Xihe's delicate throat, a mysterious smile flickering in his eyes as he spoke in a soft yet chilling tone, "Little friend, did you see everything?" 0

"Uh..." Xia Xihe was paralyzed with fear at the murderous intent in his eyes. 0

Yan Yulong shouted from the side, "It's not his fault! Don't hurt him!" 0

"Shh..." Yan Junhong said in a coaxing tone as if speaking to a child, "It's getting late; don't shout so loudly." 0

"Let him go!" Yan Yulong knew well how ruthless his father could be; taking a life was nothing unusual for him. If he exerted even a little force, Xia Xihe would die on the spot! 0

"Oh dear, why do you always have to go against me? I said don’t shout so loudly..." 0

Yan Junhong pretended to slice Xia Xihe's throat, and Yan Yulong lost control as he roared, "No--!" 0
