Zhu Junjie stopped, raised his hand to wipe the sweat from his forehead, took off his trench coat, and threw it over Mong Si, shielding her while stretching his muscles.
Seeing this, the opponent already understood Zhu Junjie's intentions. The leader did not waste any more time with Zhu Junjie and kicked towards him.
Zhu Junjie was on guard; at the moment the opponent lifted his foot, he quickly pulled out a dagger from his suit jacket and slashed at the opponent's ankle.
When coming to find Mong Si, Zhu Junjie remembered that those who took her had weapons. Those weapons were contraband, which he couldn't obtain, but he had other weapons!
The dagger in his hand was a gift from A-Hu; he had kept it in the car and didn't expect it would come in handy today. The dagger was sharp, and Zhu Junjie was determined to strike decisively.
After all, with his skills, he had no chance of winning against the opponent in a fair fight. He could only aim for a quick strike when the opponent's guard was down.
By the time the leader reacted, the dagger had already cut through his clothing, leaving a wound on his ankle. He reacted quickly and withdrew his leg just in time to prevent the dagger from cutting deeper; otherwise, his left leg would have been incapacitated.
The leader looked down at the blood flowing from his ankle; a hint of malice appeared on his face as he attacked Zhu Junjie again. This time, he moved swiftly, leaving Zhu Junjie no room to counterattack; he could only dodge.
"I thought you were tough; turns out you're just a showpiece!" The leader's tone was filled with mockery as he continued to attack without pause.
Zhu Junjie was struck in the chest. The leader was furious, his fists clenched tightly as he hit Zhu Junjie hard enough to nearly knock the wind out of him. Zhu Junjie staggered back, almost falling.
Seeing that Zhu Junjie posed no threat, the leader looked down at the unconscious Mong Si. The slight rise and fall of her chest filled him with murderous intent. He quickly bent down and clawed at Mong Si's neck with his fingers.
His movements were fierce; if Mong Si's neck was caught by him, she would likely be finished. Zhu Junjie steadied himself and stared intently at the leader.
Damn it! The person he had finally found and dragged out of the car was not someone he would let die easily!
Zhu Junjie lunged at him, shouting, "I'll fight you!"
"Get away!" Just as the leader's hand grasped Mong Si's neck and he intended to apply pressure, Zhu Junjie charged forward, and the leader quickly swung a punch at him.
His fist landed squarely on Zhu Junjie's chin, halting Zhu Junjie's movements. The man reached out to snatch the dagger from Zhu Junjie's hand. If the dagger fell into the leader's hands, it would put both Zhu Junjie and Mong Si in danger. Zhu Junjie was aware of this. He quickly flung the dagger away.
The leader hesitated for a moment before gripping Zhu Junjie's wrist, preparing to exert force. Zhu Junjie felt a jolt of fear. Although he wasn't particularly skilled, he often provoked A-Hu, who would grip his wrist and apply just enough pressure to make him submit. He and A-Hu were friends, and during their "sparring," A-Hu would always hold back.
However, this person before him was an enemy and would not play friendly games; he was definitely going to twist Zhu Junjie's arm until it broke. The thought of a broken arm sent a wave of panic through Zhu Junjie. In desperation, he didn't care about technique; he leaned in close and bit the man's ear.
"Ah!"
Zhu Junjie was only thinking about the consequences of a broken arm, and his reaction was swift and precise. The leader usually faced opponents who followed standard tactics, but this unconventional move from Zhu Junjie caught him off guard. The bite made him pause in pain.
Taking advantage of that moment, Zhu Junjie managed to pull his arm free from the leader's grip.
"You dare bite me!"
The leader gritted his teeth in anger at Zhu Junjie's bizarre tactic and threw a punch at Zhu Junjie's abdomen. The blow made Zhu Junjie feel as if his insides had shifted positions. He released the man's ear and staggered backward in pain.
The leader knew Zhu Junjie's identity and had never intended to kill him, but Zhu Junjie's actions had ignited a desire to eliminate him. He realized that if he didn't deal with Zhu Junjie first, the latter would interfere when he went after Mong Si.
Since Zhu Junjie and Mong Si shared a deep bond, he decided to grant them their wish: to be born in the same year and month, and to die together in the same year and month!
The leader quickly approached Zhu Junjie and launched an attack. Still reeling from the pain, Zhu Junjie stumbled as he tried to evade. Each time he dodged one strike, he received two more blows, leaving him unable to stand upright.
Frustration boiled within him as he found himself powerless against the leader's onslaught. Soon enough, Zhu Junjie was kicked to the ground. The leader touched his bleeding ear, then raised his uninjured left leg and repeatedly kicked at Zhu Junjie's head.
Zhu Junjie held his head with his arms, but even so, his head still throbbed painfully, as if he could faint at any moment.
The leader saw Zhu Junjie clutching his head and slowly relaxed his grip, knowing that Zhu Junjie had lost the ability to fight back. He dragged Zhu Junjie over to Mong Si's side and sneered, "You wanted to save your brother, right? Let me show you how I’m going to kill him!"
The leader picked up a dagger he had retrieved from the ground and slashed it toward Mong Si's neck.
"Don't!" Zhu Junjie tried to raise his hand to stop it.
At that moment, he felt dizzy and disoriented; his arms were in pain from protecting his head, having been kicked multiple times by the leader. He wanted to lift them but couldn't. He could only watch helplessly as the dagger approached Mong Si.
In Zhu Junjie's mind, a vision flashed of a bloody cut appearing on Mong Si's neck, his eyes wide open in death. A chill ran through him.
Just as the leader was about to strike, Mong Si suddenly opened his eyes wide and grabbed the leader's hand.
"You’re awake!"
Seeing this scene, a glimmer of hope appeared in Zhu Junjie's complex gaze. Mong Si had woken up just as he was being choked and struggling to breathe. During the fight between Zhu Junjie and the leader, he gradually analyzed his situation.
It was both surprising and somewhat expected that Zhu Junjie would risk himself to confront the leader for his sake.
Zhu Junjie's limited fighting skills were clear to Mong Si; he wanted to help but felt powerless. He kept his eyes closed, listening to the commotion nearby as his breathing became uncontrollably rapid.
When the leader finally stopped his one-sided assault, Mong Si quickly adjusted his breathing to appear unaffected like before. In this life-and-death moment, Mong Si did not respond to Zhu Junjie.
Zhu Junjie sensed the surprise in his tone; an unnatural expression crossed his face. In the next second, he grew even more anxious, with no room for other thoughts.
Mong Si had just awakened from unconsciousness; he was severely injured and lacked strength. He grasped the leader's hand, only able to delay the dagger's harm but unable to resolve the crisis—the dagger continued its relentless approach toward Mong Si's neck, seemingly ready to take his life at any moment.
