The Thunder Continent consists of Eight States and Seventy-Six Counties, with Xuan Prefecture being the southernmost state among the Eight States. Within Xuan Prefecture, there are ten counties, and Xuanfeng County is the northernmost of these. Beyond Xuanfeng County, the land to the north falls under the jurisdiction of Great Yuan Province.
However, the road between Xuanfeng County and Great Yuan Province is not a smooth one; there lies a vast expanse of land filled with dense, hidden jungles known as the Wasteland of Demons.
The Wasteland of Demons is home to a variety of bizarre plants, some of which can be traced back to Ancient Times. Even strange plants that can consume life are quite common here, and many cultivators regard certain spiritual herbs as treasures found within the Wasteland of Demons.
Of course, in addition to these peculiar plants and herbs, countless ferocious beasts inhabit the Wasteland of Demons. These beasts are the true danger of this area; it is not only low-level beasts that reside here but also high-level ones. Even powerful cultivators dare not enter casually because for these beasts, the flesh and spiritual energy of cultivators are like elixirs that enhance their demonic power. Countless cultivators who came seeking treasure have been devoured by the beasts in the Wasteland of Demons, becoming stepping stones for their advancement.
Despite this, the Wasteland of Demons remains a popular destination for many adventurers until one day when a tribe that called themselves Barbarians settled in the Wasteland of Demons, gradually changing everything.
No one knows where they came from or when they appeared, but to ordinary people, those in this tribe seem strange. Their clothing and demeanor differ significantly from those of regular people, and they harbor great hostility towards outsiders. Since settling in the Wasteland of Demons, they have prohibited outsiders from coming to hunt for treasure. Strangely enough, these tribespeople coexist harmoniously with the ferocious beasts in the Wasteland of Demons.
However, Sun Zhe is unaware of all this; he only knows that this place is an excellent hiding spot while being pursued by numerous powerful foes. His only choice is to hide here; he does not question whether it is dangerous because no danger could be worse than being hunted by Golden Thunder Sect.
Sun Zhe moves swiftly; for him, a thirty-mile journey takes less than an hour. Soon, he arrives at the location in the Wasteland of Demons where the Purple Blade Sect disciple was last seen.
"Caw... caw..."
Black crows take flight through the forest, creating an eerie atmosphere. Most people dislike crows, which symbolize misfortune; even some wild beasts avoid them.
Standing at the foot of a mountain, Sun Hao gazes ahead to see an exceptionally steep gorge. On the other side of this gorge lies a lush green forest that stretches endlessly. Towering ancient trees stand tall there, and various strange plants thrive. In the distance, one can vaguely see many beasts running through the woods.
From the outside, the Deserted Forest appeared to be a paradise, but Sun Zhe sensed a faint hint of danger beneath its beautiful facade. It was an instinct that had slowly developed after numerous battles.
At that moment, Sun Zhe suddenly turned around, his pupils constricting sharply as a chill washed over him. He felt that the pursuers were not far behind, and they would arrive in less than half an hour—perhaps even sooner.
Without hesitation, Sun Zhe's figure flickered, transforming into a streak of light as he dashed into the Wasteland of Demons. In the blink of an eye, he vanished without a trace.
Upon entering the Wasteland of Demons, an unfamiliar scent assaulted his senses. Sun Zhe could not identify what kind of aura it was; it was extremely complex, mingling the freshness of nature with the vitality of spirits, the stench of blood, and a hint of ancient vicissitudes unique to the wilderness.
Gripping the hilt of his Long Sword tightly, Sun Zhe's mind sharpened as he moved swiftly through the forest. Although he sensed something unusual in the air, he did not slow down. To shake off his pursuers, he needed to delve deeper into the Deserted Forest.
"Hmm..."
As he walked, Sun Zhe's gaze involuntarily drifted toward the distance. What he saw made him gasp in shock—a massive green figure hidden within the foliage. Though he could not see all of it, the thick demonic aura emanating from it made Sun Zhe realize that it was a gigantic beast. The aura it radiated was comparable to that of an ordinary Thunder Sovereign Level Cultivator; this was indeed a Third-Grade Monster Beast!
This was merely on the outskirts of the Deserted Forest, and yet a Third-Grade Monster Beast had already appeared. If he ventured deeper, would there not be Fourth-Stage Demon Beasts comparable to Thunder Lord Experts or even Fifth-Stage Monsters? At that moment, Sun Zhe truly understood how terrifying the Deserted Forest was.
………………
Outside the Wasteland of Demons, where Sun Zhe had originally stood, several fierce figures appeared—these were Elder Leng and his team who had pursued him from the town. They seemed to have used some method to closely follow Sun Zhe without any deviation in direction.
Moments later, two more teams rushed toward this location from different directions. One team was led by a White-Haired Elder, while the other was led by an ugly Old Crone; these were two additional pursuit teams sent by the Golden Thunder Sect. The White-Haired Elder was Elder Steward Han Li from Golden Thunder Sect, and the ugly Old Crone was known as the Old Poisonous Woman mentioned by Han Li. Originally separated in their search for Sun Zhe's whereabouts, all three teams had now converged again under Elder Leng's summons.
"Elder Leng, have you found any trace of that boy?" Han Li asked urgently without stopping. Sun Zhe had escaped from him before, and among those present, only he wanted to capture Sun Zhe personally to alleviate his previous mistakes.
"That bastard wouldn't have run into the Wasteland of Demons, would he..." The Gray-Clad Old Woman couldn't help but frown as she cast a cold glance at the distant Wasteland of Demons.
Upon hearing her words, the newly arrived individuals couldn't help but tense up, their expressions revealing a shared sense of gravity. Although everyone present was at least a Thunder Sovereign level expert, facing the unfathomable Wasteland of Demons left them feeling uncertain. It wasn't that they lacked strength; rather, the Wasteland of Demons was too terrifying. There had been a once-in-a-lifetime powerhouse who had broken through to the Realm of the Thunder Lord and had fallen within that very Wasteland. The dangers inside were simply beyond their capacity to resist.
Moreover, the Wasteland of Demons was home to the strange Barbarian Tribe. These individuals, though eccentric in nature, possessed considerable strength and harbored a deep-seated hatred for outsiders. If they were discovered by them, it would be difficult for anyone present to escape unscathed.
Elder Leng scanned the crowd with a cold gaze, a chilling aura emanating from him that enveloped everyone present. Dozens of Thunder Sovereign experts, including Han Li and two Thunder Lord level masters, simultaneously felt an overwhelming pressure as if a heavy weight was pressing down on their hearts. Those with slightly lesser strength even found it hard to breathe.
Five-Star Thunder Lord; this was the first time Elder Leng revealed his true power before everyone.
"Go in!"
With that simple command and no further words, Elder Leng vanished from sight.
After he disappeared, the others exchanged glances, a hint of helplessness flashing across their faces. Yet none dared to oppose Elder Leng's intentions, fully aware of the consequences of dissent. Moments later, dozens of experts above the Realm of Thunder Sovereign retracted their auras and transformed into streaks of light, soaring into the Wasteland of Demons.
