Thunder Cultivation has seven levels: Thunderer, Thunder Master, Thunder Sovereign, Thunder Lord, Thunder Emperor, and Thunder Saint. Each level represents a distinct tier of power, and each Cultivator at these levels possesses unique characteristics. The transition from Thunder Sovereign to the Realm of the Thunder Lord is particularly significant, as it marks a watershed moment from quantity to quality.
The first three levels—Thunderer, Thunder Master, and Thunder Sovereign—are distinguished by the form of spiritual energy. The Thunderer has spiritual energy in a gaseous state, which has yet to solidify; the Thunder Master's spiritual energy transforms into a liquid state; while the Thunder Sovereign's spiritual energy condenses into a solid state. Once the transformation of spiritual energy within the body occurs, advancing to the next level becomes feasible. Although this transformation process is challenging, it follows a discernible pattern.
However, after reaching the Realm of Thunder Sovereign, advancing to Thunder Lord requires comprehension at a different level. The opportunities for advancement become elusive and abstract. This is why the number of high-level Cultivators is significantly lower than that of low-level Cultivators; the difficulty of later-stage advancement is far greater than that of earlier stages.
Upon hearing Sun Zhe's confident response, a glimmer of brilliance flashed in the old man's eyes, and a hint of admiration appeared on his face.
From being a Thunderer to achieving the perfect realm of Thunder Sovereign, Sun Zhe's cultivation goals were not clearly defined. Upon arriving at the Thunder Continent, he merely sought to enhance his strength and seize this hard-won second chance at life. Later on, he was compelled by the Zhou family and the Golden Thunder Sect to practice frantically. Throughout this journey, he lacked a clear pursuit.
An unsettled mind leads to chaotic thoughts. The Realm of the Thunder Lord differs from the previous three levels; even a slight instability in one's mindset can lead to demonic deviation. The old man hesitated to allow Sun Zhe to advance because he recognized this issue—Sun Zhe had not yet understood his true self or clarified his aspirations.
"What do you want?"
With curiosity in his voice, the old man asked.
Gazing into the distance as dusk approached and the sun began to set, Sun Zhe's eyes reflected the crimson hues of twilight. Within that red was a fleeting flash of purple light that filled his pupils in an instant. Suddenly, Sun Zhe emanated an extraordinarily unique aura, as if he stood above all beings and looked down upon the earth. In that moment, he seemed like a deity controlling the land.
Under this aura, everything around him was repelled; even the deeply skilled old man involuntarily took a step back, creating a distance of ten feet between them while intently watching Sun Zhe. Though he did not speak, there was an unusual gleam in his eyes.
Sun Zhe appeared oblivious to this reaction as he took two slow steps forward and softly said,
"I want to be a strong person—a unique strong person—no longer needing to look at others' faces or be manipulated by fate."
If he were a powerful figure standing at the peak, perhaps he could have easily avoided that thunderstorm from years ago; then he would not have left his hometown or come to this Thunder Continent.
If he were a powerful figure standing at the peak, neither the Zhou family nor Xuan Lei Sect or Golden Thunder Sect would dare treat him this way. In a world where the weak are preyed upon by the strong, he would not need to toil so hard, and naturally, the fate of the Sun Clan would be different as well.
If he were a powerful figure standing at the peak, perhaps she would not have died like that back then...
Everything is because his strength is still insufficient, so he cannot escape the control of fate. Faced with the massive Golden Thunder Sect, he must retreat; the Nine Continents Mainland is right there, yet he cannot return. If his strength were sufficient, why would it be like this?
From the old man's words, he has already learned that the Jiuzhou Continent indeed exists, but it is in a different space from the Thunder Continent. That spatial barrier is something even the old man, who has reached the peak of power, cannot cross. As for Sun Zhe now, it is even more impossible for him to pass through. The only way is to increase his strength; perhaps if he does so, he can return to his homeland.
Becoming strong, avenging the deceased Sun Clan, and returning to his hometown—this is Sun Zhe's most direct goal now.
"Good!"
Sun Zhe's words were light, but they contained a firm determination. His entire aura revealed his inner thoughts, and even the old man couldn't help but praise him with a smile.
Although he usually acted very casually, his vision was actually quite high. People who reach his level tend to have a corresponding level of insight. There are not many people he deems worthy; however, he places great importance on the extraordinary Sun Zhe.
"Since that's the case, I will share some key points about advancing. How much you can grasp depends on your own comprehension."
At this point, a serious expression flashed across Sun Zhe's face. Opportunities to receive guidance from a top-tier expert like the old man are rare. Although he has a good relationship with him, the actual instances of the old man teaching him have not been many, especially when it comes to advancement—this is the first time.
Now that Sun Zhe has reached the peak of the Realm of Thunder Sovereign, if he wants to advance further, he must take that step and become a Cultivator of the Realm of the Thunder Lord. The old man's guidance is crucial for him to successfully make that leap.
"Do you know why Cultivators at the Thunder Sovereign Stage can fly using Yukong?"
"I don't know."
Sun Zhe's answer was straightforward; he simply did not know and did not hide it at all.
"Forget it, I won't ask you anymore. Just listen carefully..." Seeing Sun Zhe's expression, the old man suddenly felt a sense of defeat and spoke helplessly.
"Thunder Lord" first-level Cultivators can fly using "Yukong" because they have already mastered the power of the domain, which is essentially complete control over the surrounding space. If you want to advance to the "Realm of the Thunder Lord," you must comprehend the surrounding space and grasp the most basic form of this domain.
"Isn't mastering the domain equivalent to becoming a Cultivator of the Realm of Thunder Lord?" Sun Zhe asked, frowning in confusion.
"So I only want you to grasp the most basic form of the domain. The true domain is not something you can currently master. The so-called most basic form is not really a domain at all; it is merely an understanding of the surrounding space, being able to control the movement of spiritual energy around you. This initial form of the domain, which cannot be solidified into a tangible form, is also known as the Spirit Domain. The reason why first-level Thunder Lords can manipulate objects from a distance is that they have already mastered the Spirit Domain."
"As your mastery over space strengthens, the power of your Spirit Domain will gradually increase. Eventually, it will undergo a qualitative change due to quantitative accumulation, successfully solidifying into a tangible domain. Within your own domain, you are like a god, and at that time, you will naturally transition into the Thunder Lord Realm. Of course, this is still far from where you are now. Understanding space is extremely difficult, and just accumulating spiritual energy cannot be accomplished in a short time."
Seemingly worried that Sun Zhe might be too ambitious, the old man continued.
"I understand that the path of cultivation requires steady progress step by step, but how do I comprehend this spatial Spirit Domain?" Sun Zhe asked, still frowning. Although his Spiritual Power was incredibly strong and could even rival that of a Cultivator in the Realm of Thunder Lord, he had not sensed any presence of the Spirit Domain.
"This question... never mind. If you don't understand this question, just follow me!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the old man grabbed Sun Zhe's wrist and stepped forward into empty space with his right foot. A ripple like a wave immediately appeared in the air, and their figures slowly disappeared from their original spot. At that moment, a sparkling light from the Branch flew down like a Purple Radiance and followed closely behind them into the spatial rift, leaving this place together with them.
