San Chun asked, "What do you really want?"
Ying finished dressing and sat in front of the vanity, carefully combing her long hair. Her hair was almost the most beautiful part of her.
In a soft voice, she asked, "Do you think I'm beautiful? Do you know how many men would give everything for me?"
San Chun frowned, "What are you trying to do?"
She smiled, "Nothing much, just don't want to tell you. I'm not a fool; if I told you, you'd find evidence to save him."
"Don't you want to save him?"
"If I wanted to save him, I wouldn't have harmed him." She couldn't help but sneer.
Thinking back to when Ji Xun had just entered prison, she had gone to see him and her hatred grew stronger. At that time, she told him that among those who harmed him, she had a part in it; it was she who seduced Zhao Shuyan and made him accuse him of treason. She had thought he would be angry with her, curse her, and call her names. She wanted to see his anger, wanted him to lash out at her, even to scold her as "shameless" and "vile woman." But he merely glanced at her indifferently, seemingly uninterested in her betrayal.
Furious, she questioned him, "What if Yan Dan betrayed you? What would you do?"
He smiled slightly, "She wouldn't betray me."
She had never been so angry before; at that moment, she really wanted to rush over and choke him, hit him hard, bite him until he was bruised. But she held back; she restrained herself from cursing and from asking the jailer to open the cell door. Instead, she just laughed—a mocking laugh—and told him that the person he loved was now in another man's arms, enjoying intimacy with someone else.
She thought this would make him angry; he would tear off that elegant facade and perhaps feel low or even heartbroken. That way, she could take pleasure in hurting him. But clearly, she was disappointed again.
Ji Xun simply looked at her and said lightly, "You really are boring."
She felt like she was about to collapse. Later on, she didn't even know how she left; all she felt was immense frustration. The man she hated most in this life was Ji Xun, and the woman she hated most was San Chun. How could she possibly tell her to save him and fulfill their relationship?
San Chun Seeing her silent, the sword was thrust forward, "Hurry up, or I'll kill you."
The Nightingale said softly, "I'm afraid even if you want to kill me now, it might be too late."
"What did you say?" Just as she finished speaking, someone outside called out, "Madam, the young master has arrived."
San Chun was startled and realized that the Nightingale had been stalling for time, waiting for Ji Yan to arrive. It seemed that Ji Yan had already sent word for her to share a room tonight. She had been too careless, thinking that she and Winter Bamboo Shoot were skilled enough to not take this young master's residence seriously.
If she didn't leave now, when would she? She exchanged glances with Winter Bamboo Shoot, and the two rushed out side by side.
Outside, Ji Yan was still unaware of what had happened. When he saw two figures rushing out, he was about to block them, but they had already bypassed him and fled.
He hurried into the room and saw that the Nightingale was fine, letting out a sigh of relief as he asked, "What happened?"
The Nightingale replied, "Two thieves tried to come in and steal something. They ran away when they saw you."
Just now, their movements had been too swift for Ji Yan to clearly see who they were. However, he already felt suspicious; how could ordinary thieves have such good skills?
He asked with a smile, "Those two thieves didn't hurt you, did they?"
"What did they want from you?"
"Nothing much, just wanted me to hand over all the valuable things."
Ji Yan responded with an "oh," glanced around, and suddenly stepped forward to grasp her chin. "You should know that I hate being deceived the most. You can choose not to tell me, but then you can forget about your chin."
He exerted force with his hand, causing Ying's face to contort in pain. Tears welled up in her eyes as she said sorrowfully, "I've done so much for you, and this is how you repay me?"
A wave of sadness washed over her. She didn't like this person; the only one she loved was Ji Xun. But that man didn't love her back, so was she really seeking revenge? Suddenly, she felt a deep sense of despair. After years of struggle, all she had left were scars and nothing else.
Ji Yan smiled, "I haven't done anything to you. I just wanted to ask who those two people are. You must know them since you've been chatting for a while."
He had observed earlier that there were no signs of a struggle in the room, the bathwater had long since cooled, and she was still in the mood to comb her hair, which meant she must be acquainted with those two and was certain they wouldn't harm her.
Ying reached out to grab his hand. "If you want to know, I'll tell you. There's no need to treat me like this."
Ji Yan released his grip. "Are you done now?"
"The person is someone you know too; she is Ji Xun's Second Lady, Spring Princess, who later eloped from Handan."
Ji Yan stroked his chin thoughtfully. "So this woman has returned; that's interesting."
Seeing Ying's displeasure as her brows furrowed, he leaned in to embrace her. "Alright, my dear, it's not a big deal. Don't be upset. Since you've finished your bath, let's get some rest early."
He began to caress her body. The young man's breath filled the air with desire as he explored her waist beneath her skirt, slowly moving upward through the fabric that covered her ample curves. His hands began to rub roughly against her skin through the material, loosening the clothes she had just put on and exposing her fair skin.
She bit her lip in humiliation, a surge of pain and resentment rising within her. She bit down harder, suddenly feeling a despicable sensation as tears streamed down her face; all she wanted was to cry in despair.
Ji Yan stopped his movements and asked her, "What's wrong? You are my wife now, and when I ascend the throne, I will make you my lady. What more could you want?"
What more could she want? Suddenly, she didn't even know what she truly desired anymore. Perhaps what she wanted most had already been lost and could never be reclaimed. At that moment, she felt some regret; she shouldn't have hurt Ji Xun. Maybe only by staying by his side until death would her heart find satisfaction.
"I'm fine." She wiped her tears and turned to respond to his enthusiasm.
Her body twisted like a willow branch in the wind, full of endless charm, pulling down his head and offering her lips. Ji Yan suddenly embraced her, pressing her tightly into his arms. She felt his rigid chest and the hard desire that pressed against her.
The two kissed passionately, her hands slowly exploring beneath him, tugging at his pants, and his large member sprang forth, standing tall. She gently caressed it, then suddenly leaned down, using her soft tongue to tease the massive head, letting out a sound like a purring cat from her throat.
Ji Yan smirked in satisfaction, softly murmuring "slut," as his palm covered her delicate dress and suddenly tore it apart with force. The sheer fabric couldn't withstand such strength and ripped apart, exposing two quivering, glistening white rabbits completely bare before him.
Ying let out a soft moan of pain. Many people did not know that she was a remarried woman; they wondered how she could win the favor of Young Master Ji Xun and become his wife. It was actually quite simple—she just needed to be beautiful and possess exquisite skills in the bedroom; no man could resist such temptation. With these abilities, she effortlessly turned Young Master Ji Yan into her subordinate.
However, there were exceptions in this world—except for him, only him... the one she loved most.
At this moment, San Chun and Winter Bamboo Shoot had already dashed out of the courtyard. Someone spotted them and shouted loudly, immediately alerting the guards in the mansion. Many armed men surrounded them, shouting, "Catch the assassin!"
San Chun and Winter Bamboo Shoot dared not linger; they ran frantically to shake off the guards and finally reached the wall where they had jumped in. Perhaps due to nervousness, San Chun failed to leap up on her first try; it was only with Winter Bamboo Shoot's help that she managed to get up.
She sighed softly, originally thinking she was among the best fighters among women. After witnessing Winter Bamboo Shoot's lightness skill today, she realized how shortsighted she had been. As the saying goes, there are always others better than oneself; even a girl could possess such strength.
They exited the Young Master's mansion and ran westward.
Winter Bamboo Shoot asked her, "Miss, where are we going?"
"Let's head back to the inn first."
She planned to see Zhong Ling and find out how she felt about Ji Xun. She couldn't believe that Zhong Ling would be so heartless towards her own husband.
One night passed without a word, and the next morning she went to the Crown Prince's Residence to find Zhong Ling. As she had expected, Zhong Ling was still at the Crown Prince's Residence. She asked her to help save someone, thinking that she would readily agree, perhaps even more anxious than herself.
Unfortunately, she was mistaken; there are always people in this world who prioritize their own interests over emotions.
Zhong Ling appeared quite surprised by her sudden arrival, but soon regained her composure and gave her an answer, "I only want a man who can help me ascend to the Queen's position. If he cannot do that, then he is not worthy of being my husband."
What a notion of unworthiness. San Chun suddenly felt a wave of frustration; the affairs of the world had become too incomprehensible.
She asked, "Have you never loved him?"
"I have, but no matter how much I love, my own life is more important."
Perhaps this is the most genuine form of love in reality: one can love passionately when things are fine, but when trouble arises, the first concern is still oneself. Yet why are there people like Ji Xun who would sacrifice their lives for her?
It seems that love can vary greatly depending on how deeply one loves.
In truth, Zhong Ling did not want to abandon Ji Xun; it was just that some matters were beyond her control. Ji Xun's health was so poor that her father had already decided to give up on him. It was inevitable that he would be stripped of his title as Crown Prince, and her father had been somewhat involved in the schemes against him. Now he intended to marry her sister off to Six Young Master Ji Yan; the family's prosperity would rely on her sister from now on. And she was merely a discarded pawn in the family, abandoned by others, struggling to protect herself—how could she have the ability to save a dying person?
"You should leave; don't come back again," Zhong Ling said in a calm voice.
