About three hours later, Beldan woke up.
She sat up and felt a sharp pain in her chest... If the stream of water shot at her by the dragon had been any closer, she might have already met her end.
Naturally, she was grateful to be alive. Looking around, everything was so quiet, and there was still a lingering smell of blood in the air. At that moment, she remembered—Kairuot had just been fighting a massive Nefarious Dragon, and after being knocked unconscious by the water blast from the dragon, she lost all awareness of what happened next...
What happened to Kairuot? Why is the Gorge so quiet? Could it be that Kairuot... Beldan dared not think further.
She stood up and walked to the edge of the Gorge to look down. The surface of Qilong Pool was calm, without a hint of movement. She wanted to go down and investigate, but with her limited skills, she truly lacked both the strength and courage to jump down.
Beldan searched along the edge of the Gorge until she finally found a vine as thick as her wrist. She tried to grab hold of it and slowly climbed down. When she reached halfway down the steep wall, the vine came to an end, leaving Beldan hanging in mid-air, unable to move forward or backward. Just as she hesitated, the vine suddenly snapped, and she screamed as she fell into Qilong Pool...
Fortunately, below was a small pond. After falling into the water, Beldan calmed down after a moment of panic. She quickly surfaced and swam with all her might to the shore. As she got up, she saw piles of white bones on the bank, which frightened her greatly... She realized this was the lair of the dragon. She had no idea when the dragon would return; with her skills, let alone facing a dragon, she couldn't even handle a small one... At that moment, she felt very scared and wanted to climb back up, but the bare cliffs surrounding her completely dashed that hope...
Sitting there waiting for death was quite unbearable. Beldan found a relatively hidden spot and quietly observed. After several hours passed with still no sign of life, she thought: Could it be that the dragon has already been killed by Kairuot?...
After struggling for most of the day, she felt a bit hungry and tried to find something to eat around her but was disappointed; besides piles of bones and a dragon's hay nest, there was nothing else in the cave. She had no choice but to dive into the water to search for food. Beldan had practiced underwater techniques and could easily dive deep. While searching for food in the clear water, she suddenly spotted a dragon's tail and hurriedly swam away in fright.
Once again enveloped in suffocating silence, Miss Belri felt that since there had been no reaction from the dragon beneath her for so long, it must be dead. She dove back down boldly approached the dragon's tail and tried to touch it with her hand; still no movement. She swam along the tail until she reached its head and discovered that only half of its jaw remained—the dragon was clearly dead. She thought:
"This dragon must have been killed by Kairuot, but where did he go? Could they have both perished? That’s impossible; I haven't found his body anywhere. He must still be alive."
Beldan surfaced and shouted loudly in the cave, “Kairuot!!”
Aside from the echo in the cave, no one responded to her. By the time she called out again, her voice was weak.
Beldan submerged again, hoping for luck. She continued to swim in the water, her stomach growling with hunger as she silently chanted to herself: [Food, delicious food, please appear quickly.]
She didn’t want to starve to death here. To survive, she had to keep swimming in the water. After a while, she discovered an opening underwater and curiously swam towards it. Upon entering the water cave, she noticed that the color of the water was vastly different from before; it was much darker than the water outside. She quickly surfaced and found that this was another Cave. Inside, a golden light shone brightly from a Kiwi, which immediately caught her eye. She exclaimed in delight, “Kiwi!!”
Having been starving for a long time, Beldan eagerly picked a Kiwi and started eating. The taste of the Kiwi was indeed to her liking; it was sweet with a hint of alcohol. She devoured more than ten fist-sized Kiwis until her stomach felt uncomfortably full before finally stopping.
After eating her fill, she recalled a memory—
She remembered the first time she saw a Kiwi, how she had clamored for it from Great-Great-Grandfather, who had frowned and said to her, “Kiwi has side effects; girls shouldn’t eat it if they don’t practice martial arts.”
Since then, she hadn’t encountered a Kiwi again. Decades had passed in a flash, and this was her second encounter with this fruit; it was also her first time eating it—and she had eaten until she was stuffed.
In an instant, the toxicity of the Kiwi began to take effect within her body. She felt a bit dizzy and heavy-headed. Imitating her Great-Great-Grandfather, she sat cross-legged and tried to use her internal energy techniques to force out the poison from her body, but it was of no use; instead, her head began to ache even more. Her heartbeat quickened and breathing became difficult; she thought this was a sign of impending death. She mused: [If I am to die, I want to die in a peaceful place.]
Enduring the pain, she dragged her heavy legs step by step toward an unknown direction and entered an icy cave filled with snow and ice. She wanted to move forward but could no longer support herself; gradually, she lost consciousness and collapsed.
After an unknown amount of time, Beldan woke up to find herself sitting on the ground. Her upper body was bare, and someone had their palms pressed tightly against her back, channeling their internal energy into her body. Turning her head, she gasped in shock, “Kairuot! You little brat!!”
With that exclamation, she rushed forward to embrace Kairuot. Seeing that things were not looking good for him as he stood there naked, Kairuot quickly dodged before Beldan could hug him and jumped into the bone-chilling icy water, disappearing without a trace.
At this moment, the poison of Kiwi within Beldan began to take effect. Her head throbbed painfully, her body felt hot and restless. She immediately stripped off all her clothes and jumped naked into the icy water.
In the bone-chilling cold water, Beldan felt no cold at all; instead, she found the icy water quite comfortable. She used her water control technique to immerse herself completely in the water, preventing the poison from spreading.
After an unknown amount of time, her headache gradually subsided, and her burning body began to return to normal. She started to paddle her arms slowly in the water, determined to find Kairuot no matter what. Finally, behind a large rock, she spotted Kairuot. In the water, Kairuot could not withstand Beldan's entanglement, and both of them surfaced together. As soon as Beldan emerged from the water, she began to scold Kairuot: "Kairuot, you're not human! You took advantage of me and now you want to run away."
Kairuot defended himself: "I didn't."
"Didn't?" Beldan replied. "You took off my clothes and were touching me on my back. What does that mean?"
Kairuot answered: "I wanted to save you."
Beldan said: "Don't flatter yourself; you're in bad shape yourself and still want to save me?" Saying this, she suddenly embraced Kairuot. "I'm the one here to save you."
The two naked bodies held tightly together in the water. Kairuot's breathing became rapid as he hurriedly said: "No, don't do this; we're still young..."
Beldan ignored Kairuot's words; she leaned closer to his lips and gently kissed him, softly saying: "What's wrong? Am I not beautiful?"
For the first time, Kairuot was pressed tightly against a girl’s body without any clothes on, causing his blood to boil. The poison in his body flowed rapidly. Hearing Beldan's gentle words made him feel utterly captivated. He wanted to push Beldan away with all his strength, but she held him tightly, making it difficult for him to exert force. He was also afraid that using too much strength would hurt Beldan. In his hesitation, the pain in his head flared up prematurely, and he could no longer control himself.
Kairuot's eyes were fixed on Beldan as he held her even tighter, as if afraid she would escape. He kissed Beldan passionately and then, without her consent, lifted her out of the water and ran towards the cave, roughly throwing Beldan onto a pile of hay. Beldan did not resist; she allowed Kairuot to take charge because what he was doing was also what she needed. Gradually, their bodies fused tightly together.
