The three of them took advantage of the night and easily entered the courtyard of Bel Six using the Lightness Skill.
Li Girl was very familiar with this courtyard; she often played here with her friends when she was a child. At that time, she and Bel Six were close classmates. As they grew up, they became more cautious and did not interact as much. Kairuot and Fairleya followed closely behind Li Girl and soon arrived at Bel Six's residence.
They hid in a small thicket to observe the movements inside the house. They saw Bel Six come out of his room, and they quickly followed him.
They trailed him, jogging across the street and through dense woods, until they reached an open low-lying area. Bel Six paused on a large rock in the low area for a moment before disappearing in the blink of an eye.
Lily, who was observing from the thicket, wanted to rush out to continue following Bel Six but was grabbed by Kairuot by the arm. When Lily wanted to ask why, Kairuot silenced her with a gesture. He pointed towards the opposite thicket in the low area. In the dark, Lily's vision was limited; she did not know what was happening ahead. Still confused, she noticed that Fairleya, with her keen eyesight in the night, followed Kairuot's pointing direction and discovered that there were many people lying in ambush in the opposite thicket. They were holding Laser Guns, and some even had Heavy Weapons, with one person aiming directly at them. Fairleya sensed danger and quickly said, "We are ambushed; let's escape!"
Hearing her voice, Kairuot pulled Lily back quickly. Just as they retreated from their previous position, there was a loud explosion that created a large crater, followed by a barrage of bullets fired from three directions toward where they had just stood.
"That was close!" Lily exclaimed, breaking into a cold sweat.
Kairuot and Fairleya retaliated with their Laser Pointers. At that moment, Lily noticed someone quietly approaching them from behind.
She shouted, "Be careful! There's someone sneaking up on us from behind!"
As she spoke, she threw several throwing knives at the shadow. Wherever the knives landed, the shadow fell down. The shadow behind them no longer concealed itself and fired a series of bullets at them. Bullets whizzed past as they concentrated their fire toward them; they could only keep jumping and crouching to avoid being hit. Kairuot quickly assessed the situation based on the density of bullets and determined that only the firepower from their right front was weaker. He quietly discussed with both of them:
"There are too many enemies; it's difficult to break through. You two stay put while I leap to the right front to draw their attention there. Then you can charge out from here."
Before either of them could respond, Kairuot leaped into the air and landed among the enemy group on the right front. Using his immense inner strength, he unleashed powerful Laser Beams with both palms at high speed. With a loud explosion, the enemies in front were immediately thrown into chaos. He then targeted several other enemies with similar Laser Beams, causing those in front to flee in disarray.
Bel Six thought his plan was flawless to eliminate these three little thieves effortlessly. Just as he believed he had surrounded them completely, they suddenly appeared on his right side, catching him off guard. The right side was a dead end; further ahead lay a wide and deep Gorge. The simple-minded Bel Six didn't think twice; he hurriedly changed his plan and called for everyone to advance toward the right side.
Kairuot's Laser Pointer was astonishingly effective; sometimes firing single shots and other times using single palm strikes or double palm blasts in rapid succession. His firing speed was so fast that each shot left his opponents terrified. From the gunfire sounds, Bel Six deduced that all three were in the Small Grove on the right side. Despite suffering significant losses among his Special Forces, he still ordered them to concentrate their firepower at any cost to eliminate them in the Small Grove.
At the foot of Olympus Mons, beside the Gorge, in a small grove, bullets whizzed by, cross-mapping, the sound of explosions deafening, flames shooting into the sky, branches and soil being thrown several feet high, obscuring everything. The intensity of the battle was unimaginable. The Special Forces members used various advanced weapons to quickly end the fight, nearly leveling the small grove on their right. When they surrounded the area and searched one by one, they realized that the three individuals had long since vanished without a trace.
They returned to the Dragon Clan. Kairuot instructed them not to enter through the main gate but to leap over the wall directly into Belden Courtyard. Fortunately, there was no one in the small courtyard; only Beldan was meditating in the Training Room. Upon seeing them return, she hurried over and asked:
"Are you all okay? We agreed to split up for action; why didn’t you wait for me?"
Kairuot did not answer her question but instead asked, "Why aren’t you resting properly in bed? What are you doing here?"
"Training," Beldan replied. "Why should I just lie in bed?"
Lily said, "Didn’t you have a doctor check on you?"
Beldan patted her own body and answered, "I’m perfectly fine; why would I need to see a doctor?"
Kairuot asked, "Are you the only one in this entire courtyard? Is no one taking care of you?"
Beldan shook her head and said, "You’re being ridiculous. I want to know what you’ve been up to. You didn’t even say hello and left me waiting alone here for half the night."
"That’s strange," Lily said. "Didn’t Great-Great-Grandfather say he would send someone to take care of you? It really doesn’t make sense."
"There are many things we don’t understand; it seems we can only choose to escape this Dragonfall Lodge," Fairleya suddenly remarked.
"Let’s rest for today," Kairuot said. "You two sleep in the East Wing Room; Belle and I will sleep in the west wing room. I believe this place is safe."
After a long night of turmoil, Kairuot still couldn’t fall asleep lying in bed. Beldan, relieved to see Kairuot safe, was already very tired and happily fell asleep holding onto Kairuot's arm. Although Kairuot's group had suffered no losses in this battle, it made him feel alert. Kairuot thought:
"Our actions are extremely secretive. How did Bel Six find out? Moreover, he set a trap for us in advance. The location they chose for the ambush was quite good; with Bel Six's intelligence, it would be impossible for him to devise such a detailed plan without guidance from someone more capable. If this ambush was not commanded by Bel Six, we might have faced disaster. The depths of Dragonfall Lodge are indeed profound and inscrutable."
His Sixth Sense had already informed him that the most suspicious person was Belzun the Elder, the owner of Dragonfall Lodge, but he could not find any solid evidence against him.
Kairuot suddenly felt that from the moment he entered Dragonfall Lodge, the other party had set up one trap after another for him, leading him unknowingly into their schemes. As soon as he entered the lodge, those children were playing with a large cauldron weighing hundreds of pounds as if to demonstrate: "The people of Dragonfall Lodge are not to be trifled with." With his exceptional Cognitive Ability, he recalled the scenes from that day; images flashed through his mind, and he quickly realized that those children had expressionless faces and were performing mechanical actions. At that moment, he understood that they were children disguised as robots.
Through his interactions, he sensed that the martial arts skills of the people at Dragonfall Lodge did not seem as formidable as rumored outside.
From tonight's skirmish, it appeared that the people of Dragonfall Lodge relied on weapons. They possessed highly advanced modern weaponry; where did these weapons come from? Could they have been brought from another planet? If so, that would be terrifying. Dragonfall Lodge could potentially be an alien base. If this were true, then Terrifying Forest must have been artificially created by them, and the malfunctioning of aircraft entering their region must also be related to them.
The firepower of their advanced weapons was sufficient to eliminate the Nefarious Dragon in Qilong Pool; why had it not been destroyed yet? Were they trying to create an illusion before outsiders? Did they intend to use this sole Nefarious Dragon to eliminate dissenters coming to Dragonfall Lodge? However, this tactic backfired and instead facilitated Kairuot's blood transformation, enhancing his martial arts skills.
Additionally, the voice-controlled automatic dagger given to him by Kai Ruokun Master was also quite modern. In his mind, he found no points of suspicion regarding Kai Ruokun Master; however, where his dagger came from remained a mystery that eluded understanding.
Dragonfall Lodge had already merged modernity with antiquity. On the surface, it appeared to be an ancient clan, but upon deeper investigation, one would discover that many of their elements were extremely modernized. Hidden within this modernization lay the secrets of Dragonfall Lodge. Anyone who uncovered this secret would find themselves at odds with them.
What role did Beldan play in this trap? Why did she suddenly go mad during their group activities as if someone nearby was controlling her? Kairuot found the answer through a series of memories: it was that unintentional small cube in Belzun the Elder's hand that was manipulating her. He recalled vividly the moments spent with Beldan; the genuine love reflected in her eyes for him was hard to feign. She truly loved him; otherwise, she wouldn't have risked her life to save him in the Cave.
And what about Lily? For him and Fairleya, she had faced life-and-death situations multiple times; her sacrifices for love remained etched in his heart and mind.
Kairuot reflected on this adventure to visit Dragonfall Lodge; it could be said that he had endured trials and nearly lost his life. He could no longer investigate the matter regarding the spacecraft; the deeper he probed, the more dangerous it became. He no longer wished to explore the secrets of Dragonfall Lodge. With school starting in a few days, he could use that as an excuse and decided that tomorrow, regardless of how they tried to persuade him, he would resign from Belzun the Elder and leave this unforgettable lodge behind.
