When Bai Yujing woke up, the surgery was already completed. The bullet and the fragments embedded in his body had been removed. He was wrapped up like a mummy, and the effects of the anesthesia had not worn off yet, making him feel soft and weak.
The first thing he saw upon opening his eyes was not Lin Ruoqiao or Li Hao, but a woman in a suit with a stern expression—Qian Jia. She was lifting Bai Yujing's eyelid to check on him, and he immediately swatted her hand away, asking, "What are you doing?"
"You're awake! Not bad, first getting attacked by a bomb and then taking down two opponents. I didn't expect you to have such shooting skills; have you had training?" Qian Jia asked.
Bai Yujing tried to sit up straight but felt a sharp pain in his abdomen. Qian Jia placed a pillow under his waist, allowing him to sit up properly. "I practiced shooting abroad and later used it in Neon. I know some techniques, but it's a pity that they got away with some things. I did my best to hold them off, but unfortunately, I only managed to kill one; the other escaped with the goods!"
Just as Bai Yujing felt a bit regretful, he suddenly realized something. "Wait, you just said I took down two? What do you mean?"
Qian Jia immediately pulled out Bai Yujing's backpack from behind her. However, it was already stained with blood—he didn't know whose it was. "Two bandits: one was shot dead on the spot by you; the other was shot in the chest and died from internal bleeding while trying to escape. The goods weren't lost; I retrieved them!"
Bai Yujing nodded. "That's good. Made! Those two were ruthless; they planted a bomb under my car. If I hadn't sensed something was off when getting in and checked it out, I would have definitely been killed. They should know my strength now! They came down without saying a word and just opened fire at me—so unreasonable!"
Qian Jia replied, "We checked the scene; they used a homemade bomb. At that time, Old Huang wanted to activate the bomb after you got in the car. If it had gone off as soon as you approached, you would have been blown to bits. By the way, Old Huang is short; he's from Vietnam and has the codename Old Huang. He has been involved in several bombing incidents and is somewhat notorious abroad. The other one is called Kate; she's a fighting expert we encountered overseas before—very tough to deal with. Luckily, you didn't let her get close; otherwise, who knows what might have happened."
"Those two were just unlucky; they didn't expect to fall here—caught in their own trap!" Qian Jia looked at Bai Yujing and shook her head.
Bai Yujing was displeased. "What do you mean 'caught in their own trap'? I defeated them fair and square! If they died at my hands, they can't complain! By the way, I still have some questions: they wanted Center; why use a bomb? Aren't they afraid of destroying Center?"
Qian Jia quickly responded, "This question is simple: Center cannot be destroyed by bombs; its hardness is beyond your imagination. They wanted to eliminate you for two reasons: first, to disrupt our operation; second, to obtain Center!"
Bai Yujing nodded. "Right then, since you're here, let me tell you some things I've figured out so far!"
Bai Yujing was about to speak when Qian Jia immediately said, "Wait a minute!"
Qian Jia quickly opened the window and looked around, then pushed the door open and shouted outside, "You two, stay away!"
Bai Yujing could still hear Lin Ruoqiao's dissatisfied voice and Li Hao's soothing words. After that, Qian Jia returned to the hospital room and said, "Okay, you can speak now!"
Bai Yujing organized his thoughts and said, "Your previous methods were all wrong. To be precise, the Center inside is not a map!"
Qian Jia couldn't believe it: "Wrong? Not a map? What do you mean?"
Bai Yujing asked Qian Jia to take out the Center from her bag and show it to her: "Think about it. The Center is something that Atlantis used to guide its descendants to their location; it can't be designed so complicatedly. So it must display information about Atlantis in a simple and straightforward way."
"I suspect that Atlantis might have had a kind of worship for the stars, so this Center resembles an eyeball very much, and what is hidden inside is a star map observed through this eyeball long ago."
Bai Yujing showed Qian Jia: "Notice anything? This is a star map, and the brightest and most prominent one is Orion!"
Qian Jia immediately asked, "But what use does this have?"
Bai Yujing replied, "It's very useful. The star maps observed from every place in the world are different. We can use this star map and the position of Orion within it to deduce its original observation point, which will allow us to find the location of Atlantis!"
Qian Jia suddenly understood: "You really have a good head on your shoulders; you are indeed good at finding treasures!"
Qian Jia picked up the Center again and looked inside from the water droplet pendant embedded in it: "Why do you think Orion is so conspicuous? Is it meant to signify something?"
Bai Yujing shook his head, "I'm not sure either. It might be some kind of worship for this constellation. I think it has to do with its recognizability; Orion is one of the brightest constellations in the sky, very easy to spot. The star map uses this as a reference point to accurately determine locations."
Qian Jia nodded, "Okay, I understand. I'll take the Center back with me. You just focus on recovering!"
"Hey, hey, hey!" Bai Yujing immediately became unhappy. "Are you guys just going to take the results after I've risked my life?"
Qian Jia quickly replied, "Don't worry, when we find Atlantis, you'll still be the one to go. Team Leader Hu made a very taboo mistake before; our identities are too obvious and sensitive. Once we leave the country, our identities become a huge problem, facing restrictions everywhere. Even if we don't understand the forces behind this event, as soon as we pass through the area, we'll be under tight surveillance and scrutiny. So this time, I've decided that you will go!"
"No way, are you really going to make me do this alone?"
"Don't worry, just do your best. Team Leader Hu promised me the same thing: everything you can carry and take will belong to you. You just need to help us find it!"
To be honest, at this point, Bai Yujing didn't feel much about valuable things anymore. However, finding Atlantis filled him with a tremendous sense of accomplishment; who knows, he might even leave a mark in history!
Bai Yujing had already thought this through and nodded, "No problem, but you must fully support me!"
Qian Jia patted Bai Yujing's keyboard, causing him to wince in pain. "You should focus on healing first; I'll contact you after you're discharged!"
