Taking advantage of everyone's attention being drawn to the Giant Monster below, Bai Yujing quickly targeted the driver beside him. He swiftly grabbed the automatic rifle from the driver's hands and swung his right hand toward the driver's cheek.
However, Bai Yujing did not expect that the driver reacted very quickly and seemed to possess some fighting skills. He quickly lowered his head and lunged at Bai Yujing, attempting to take advantage of the moment to tackle him to the ground.
Bai Yujing immediately transformed his arm into an elbow and forcefully jabbed it into the driver's shoulder and neck, targeting a pressure point. With that strike, he saw the driver lose all strength and collapse to the ground.
“Bai Yujing, what are you doing?” At that moment, Catherine also noticed what was happening behind her, but John reacted the fastest. He grabbed a submachine gun and began firing at Bai Yujing.
Bai Yujing immediately turned and ran, bending low in an S-shaped movement through the snow, dodging a burst of bullets from John. However, at that moment, Bai Yujing felt a chill on his back and caught a glimpse of Catherine aiming her handgun at him. He was in a vulnerable position while turning, having exhausted his forward momentum without generating new strength, effectively caught in a moment of physical vulnerability.
Catherine seized this opportunity and fired a shot. The bullet came straight for Bai Yujing's forehead. He felt adrenaline and heart hormones surging as the scene he had seen before replayed in his mind; he could clearly see every movement of Catherine, even sensing the faint trace of the bullet being fired.
Bai Yujing immediately leaned back and bent down, feeling a hot stream with a hint of gunpowder rush past his cheek. Even the scarf covering his face caught a whiff of something burning.
He rolled several times and dove into the snow. In this polar night environment, everyone's visibility was severely limited. Bai Yujing was certain that at this distance, they would have difficulty seeing where he was. Moreover, they were in big trouble because the White-Furred Giant had already emerged from beneath the ice crevice.
A massive roar accompanied by shockwaves erupted from the ice crevice, leaping onto the Ice Surface. It directly pounced on Liu Hai, who was guarding a makeshift hoist nearby. The hoist was sent flying over ten meters by the tremendous impact, crashing into the distant snow.
Liu Hai screamed in terror, “Monster! Help me, help me!”
He turned to look at Catherine and John. John immediately fired several shots at the Giant Monster, each hitting its head and forcing it to stagger backward until it finally fell into the ice crevice.
The driver quickly pulled up Liu Hai: “Hurry up and go!”
At this moment, Liu Hai and the driver both witnessed a shocking sight as one massive Giant Monster after another burst forth from the ice crevices. The enormous creatures leaped into the sky and charged onto the ground, letting out tremendous roars.
The roars echoed across the snowy plains, resonating through the air. At this point, the Giant Monsters had surrounded them completely, leaving the two in a desperate situation. The driver immediately shouted to Liu Hai, "Dynamite, dynamite!"
Liu Hai finally reacted, quickly pulling a bundle of Detonators from his backpack. This was a tube of instant electric Detonators. Liu Hai activated the ignition system at the opening of the tube and threw it forward.
"Die!"
The Detonator arced through the air before erupting in a blinding flash and a deafening explosion. The shockwave lifted meters of snow into the air, instantly enveloping the surroundings in a blanket of white.
Even the Ice Surface began to crack. The sudden brightness illuminated the area like daylight, causing all the monsters to shut their eyes. The immense force obliterated several Giant Monsters surrounding Liu Hai, with the one at the center being blown into pieces, its blood and entrails scattered everywhere—dead beyond recovery.
"We need to get out of here!"
The driver pulled Liu Hai along as they quickly broke free from encirclement under the cover of snow mist. At that moment, cracks continued to extend beneath their feet, and they saw a large section of Ice Surface shatter and plunge into the abyss below, taking with it over a dozen Giant Monsters.
With this move, Liu Hai had taken out more than ten Giant Monsters in one go. Both of them were extremely tense as they escaped the encirclement. However, once the light faded, the remaining Giant Monsters reacted quickly, turning their attention toward Liu Hai and the driver as they fled from the ice crevice.
All the Giant Monsters' eyes turned red, seemingly losing their sanity in an instant as they fixated on Liu Hai and the driver—the culprits behind their losses. One of the nearly three-meter-tall Giant Monsters let out a roar that sent ripples through its cheeks with each sound wave; its long white fur stood on end. With that roar from the three-meter-tall Giant Monster, all of them charged forward in pursuit.
As the leading Giant Monster closed in, John fired two shots directly at its eyes. However, the Giant Monster merely tilted its head slightly; its speed decreased for a moment before it quickly resumed its chase.
"How is this possible?" Catherine also noticed this situation; even a headshot didn't kill it. What kind of monster is this?
Liu Hai also realized, feeling a bit on the verge of collapse: "Monsters, all monsters. Why did I come here? I shouldn't have come here. I should be at home, at home!"
John immediately slapped Liu Hai on the head: "Hurry up and run! They are not invincible. Didn't you just use the Detonator to take out more than ten of them? One of them was blown to bits!"
Liu Hai stammered while skiing and looking back: "But there are dozens of them!"
A dense group of Giant Monsters appeared, looking to have at least forty or fifty. With so many, even more Detonators wouldn't help. Catherine also knew that their situation had become extremely critical.
"We need to find a favorable terrain and use it to deal with these monsters!" Catherine immediately said to John.
After Paul fell into the crevice, the entire team was left with only her, John, the driver, and Liu Hai. The only one who could truly help her and make decisions was John, who had undergone military training.
John looked at the terrain: "Not far ahead is a crevice we explored before. The ice layer there is very thick. We can lure these monsters there, pass through, and leave them behind. Liu, get ready with the explosives; it's all up to you!"
A group of Giant Monsters behind them were frantically chasing after them, their eyes red with rage. Occasionally firing their weapons only slightly hindered their speed. It seemed inevitable that they would be caught soon. Catherine quickly made a decision: "Alright, let's head to that crevice immediately! Liu Hai, whether we survive or not depends entirely on you!"
Liu Hai remained silent with a cold expression. During this time, he had seen clearly how these people treated him; they were friendly only when he was useful, but when he wasn't, they treated him like a dog, barking orders at him.
