I didn't know how long I had been running. It wasn't until the firelight behind me disappeared and the soldiers' shouts faded away that I dared to stop. 0

I leaned against a tree trunk, gasping for breath, my throat burning with pain. I had run too fast, and a branch had scratched my neck, the wound stinging fiercely. 0

"Finally... safe..." I panted, looking up at the sky. 0

The moon was obscured by dark clouds, with only a few stars twinkling faintly. I sighed in relief and turned to continue walking forward. I needed to get out of this forest quickly; I didn't know what might happen next. 0

Dragging my weary body onward, I noticed the thick layer of fallen leaves underfoot, soft and yielding as I stepped on them. Suddenly, my foot slipped, and my body lost its balance. 0

"Ah—" I exclaimed as I plummeted downward. 0

It was a trap! My heart raced as I instinctively waved my arms, trying to grab onto something. But there was nothing but air around me. 0

When I regained consciousness, I found myself kneeling in front of a pile of firewood. Looking up, I saw the pitch-black night sky above me—no moon, no stars, just darkness. 0

I glanced down and saw several corpses laid out on the firewood pile, each wrapped in burlap, their faces unrecognizable. They were dressed in traditional attire of an ethnic minority, their garments stained bright red with blood. 0

"Where is this... How did I end up here..." I murmured to myself, feeling confused. Wasn't I in the woods? Why was I here... 0

I lowered my head and looked at the pile of firewood. Among it was a black man, wearing a feathered crown, clearly a member of an ethnic minority. His body was covered in wounds, and blood had stained the burlap. The smell of blood, the stench of decay, and mist lingered at the tip of my nose, making me feel nauseous... 0

"Ugh—" I opened my mouth and vomited. 0

"Are you awake? You finally woke up!" A hoarse voice rang out, and I raised my head to look ahead. The voice came from the burlap sack that wrapped around the black man's corpse. The sound was eerie and terrifying, sending chills down my spine. 0

"Who... who are you... how did I end up here?" I asked, my voice trembling. 0

"Hehehe..." The voice let out a cold laugh. "I am the one who will take you to meet the gods." 0

"What... what do you mean... explain yourself!" I widened my eyes, a sense of foreboding rising in my heart. Suddenly, the corpse's hand lifted, pointing directly at me. 0

" Great Wangmu Amang, please grant all our gifts to this child!" The surrounding corpses echoed his call, " Great Wangmu Amang, please grant all our gifts to this child! The great Wangmu Technique will be inherited by him from now on!" 0

"No... no... don't come near me!" I looked at them in terror, picking up a stick from the ground and swinging it at that hand. 0

"Crack!" The outstretched hand broke off with a sound. However, it was of no use; the corpses continued to shout incessantly. 0

"Don't... don't..." 0
However, before I could move a few steps, I felt a sharp pain in my back. 0
"Ah—!!!" 0
I let out a scream. 0
Before losing consciousness, I vaguely saw that severed hand crawling towards me... 0
Everything went dark, and I lost awareness once again. 0
