Mars always moves near the ecliptic plane; "Yinghuo guards the heart" indicates that Mars appears stationary within this constellation. In Chinese astrology, this phenomenon is considered extremely ominous as it symbolizes an emperor's death or a prime minister's downfall. During Emperor Qin Shi Huang's reign, this phenomenon occurred in his thirty-sixth year according to historical records; after hearing about it from commoners who inscribed on fallen meteorites that "the First Emperor dies and lands divide," he sent officials to investigate but found no confessions. Consequently, he executed those living near that meteorite.
However, Qin Shi Huang died during an eastern tour the following year at Shadiao Platform. Of course, these are just legends; Mars appears fiery red due to its surface being covered with hematite (iron oxide), making it look like an orange-red fireball.
The spaceship moved quickly as Mars gradually faded from Bai Tang's view. She left the observation deck and headed toward the restaurant. The restaurant operates twenty-four hours and offers buffet meals. Bai Tang glanced at the food area and recognized several familiar dishes—roasted sweet potatoes, taro potatoes, dumplings, buns, pasta. What caught Bai Tang's eye most was a long table filled with fruits—many varieties she had never seen before—but each looked fresh and delicious.
After selecting a plate of food, Bai Tang walked toward the dining table when suddenly the spaceship shook violently. Unable to steady herself, her food flew out of her plate wastefully rolling onto the floor before being squashed into mush by another passenger who fell down beside her. Bai Tang turned around to look around; apart from herself and a few others standing up straight, most people had fallen onto the floor due to turbulence; some even hit their heads against table legs.
"What happened?" A traveler asked in confusion while touching his reddened forehead.
"Enemy attack!" replied one man still standing with an extremely serious expression.
The broadcast on the Spaceship sounded, and the Captain's voice came through: "Dear passengers, the Spaceship has been attacked by Interstellar Pirates. The Escort Team is currently engaged in battle with the pirates, and the Spaceship has entered a state of combat readiness. Please do not panic, return to your cabins and wait; do not wander around. Trust our Soldiers; they will surely defeat the enemy."
The passengers were in a state of panic, looking at each other, unsure of what to do. They had all heard of the brutality of the Interstellar Pirates, and if the Escort Team were to be defeated and the pirates boarded the Spaceship, they would have no chance of survival. Some women and children began to cry.
"Stop crying! Quickly follow the Captain's orders and return to your Cabin and lock the door. Don't add to the burden of the staff and combat personnel!" shouted the man who had announced "Enemy Attack."
Only then did the passengers react, helping each other up and quickly returning to their Cabins.
"Why haven't you returned to your Cabin?" the man asked Bai Tang.
