Yu is a veteran of Yuanhang. Although he studied computer science, he graduated from a vocational school and was not accepted by other companies. They even had the boss's wife bring them meals instead of coming out to eat. The three technicians were equally energized, not returning home at all and living entirely at the company. Yu curiously asked them what they were working on, but they remained tight-lipped. Although Yu was curious, he wasn't angry; he had a feeling that the actions of the boss, the Technical Director, and the technicians during this time could help the company overcome its difficulties and possibly soar to new heights. Didn't he see Mr. Zhao, Mr. Zhou, Mr. Tian, and Sister Bai visiting the company recently? Those people clearly weren't ordinary.
"Yu, have you finished your meal?" Ma Congyun suddenly approached him.
"Yes!" Yu quickly closed his lunch box and stood up. "Boss, what do you need?"
"Come with me!" Ma Congyun called Yu into the restricted R&D office.
Yu's eyes lit up; he would finally find out what they were doing!
"Yu, you are an old employee of the company and have stayed with us during such difficult times; you are worthy of our trust," Ma Congyun said seriously. "Now, I want you to do something for me. But I hope you can keep this matter confidential and absolutely not leak it out. Can you do that?"
Yu felt deeply moved; this was a sign of trust from his boss! No matter what his boss asked him to do, he would definitely keep it secret and not let down his boss's trust.
"I can do it! I will definitely accomplish it!" Yu said confidently.
"Good. Come in!" The R&D office was divided into two rooms: one for confidential materials and research.
As Yu entered the inner office, he saw a smiling Technical Director, the boss's wife, and three R&D technicians, all looking as if they had just eaten ginseng fruit, their faces glowing with excitement.
"Yu! Haven't you always wanted to know what we are working on? Hehe, now let us show you our results and then hear your thoughts!" Chu Donglai said enthusiastically, showing no signs of fatigue despite the red veins in his eyes indicating he hadn't slept in two days.
"Yes! I guarantee I will complete the task!" Yu clenched his fist in gratitude for the organization's trust.
After Yu made his promise, Ling Xin placed a cardboard box on the table. Yu recognized this box; it was delivered by Mr. Tian three days ago along with a larger box that could fit a person inside. As Yu looked on curiously, Ling Xin pulled out something from the box—a Motorcycle Helmet?
No, although the item in front of him looked very much like a Motorcycle Helmet, Yu understood that it was definitely not a Motorcycle Helmet. A possibility crossed his mind, and his heart raced as his eyes turned red.
"Boss, it can't be what I think it is, right?"
Everyone else chuckled.
Ma Congyun patted Yu on the shoulder, "Yu, calm down! It's just a Game Helmet. It's no big deal. After a while, I'll give you two helmets as a reward for sticking with the company during this time!"
Ling Xin secretly rolled her eyes; now he was trying to act calm. She didn't know who had gotten so excited over the helmet and game pod that they almost couldn't get out of the game pod.

Yu pinched his thigh hard; it hurt! So he wasn't dreaming? Was all of this real? He was thrilled. His gaze quickly shifted from his boss back to the incredibly cute Game Helmet: its silver exterior was so noble!
"Boss, can I really use this helmet?"
"Of course, I called you in to let you test it," Ma Congyun replied. If they weren't looking to gather more opinions, they wouldn't have let Yu use the helmet; they would have used it themselves long ago. The five of them had been taking turns using the helmet and game pod and still hadn't had enough.
"I'll test it right away!" Yu exclaimed joyfully as he immediately put the helmet on.
The inside of the helmet was padded with sponge, soft and comfortable, but—why was there no change at all?
"You need to press this button to connect to the server," Chu Donglai said as he helped Yu press the button.
Yú felt his consciousness sink, plunging into darkness. The next moment, the dark world suddenly brightened, and the sudden light made him instinctively close his eyes. The crisp sound of birds chirping reached his ears, prompting Yú to quickly open his eyes, and they widened even more!
What came into view was no longer a somewhat crowded office but a tranquil and serene village. Above him was a blue sky with floating white clouds, beneath his feet were lush green grass and colorful wildflowers, and behind him stood a peach tree thick enough for two people to embrace. The peach blossoms were in full bloom, resembling pink clouds, and a gentle breeze brought with it a wave of fragrance! Yú took a deep breath, feeling every pore in his body relax! Such fresh air was something he could not breathe in the increasingly polluted city!
Looking up again, he saw a row of ancient-style houses with blue brick roofs. Various people were engaged in different activities: a blacksmith was forging iron, the seamstress was making clothes, the pharmacist was preparing medicine, and the shopkeeper at the grocery store was arranging goods... A group of children was playing under the peach tree, and not far away, the elderly village chief was lounging in a chair soaking up the sun.
Everything before him felt so real! Yú felt as if he were not playing a game but had somehow crossed over to another world.
Looking down at himself, he saw he was dressed in deep blue short cloth garments. His short hair had transformed into long hair tied back with a headband of the same color as his clothes, resembling the typical attire of an ancient commoner!
Tears streamed down Yú's face! This world felt so real; this sensation was so genuine! He never expected that in his lifetime he would be able to experience a holographic adventure! He thanked the boss, thanked the technical director for testing, thanked his two colleagues from the technical department, and of course, he also expressed gratitude to Mr. Zhao, Mr. Zhang, Mr. Tian, and Sister Bai for their contributions to the holographic game.
With excitement in his heart, Yú approached the village chief and bowed respectfully. "Hello, Village Chief!"
The village chief responded with silence.
Yú repeated himself.
The village chief still showed no reaction.
Yú scratched his head; it seemed he was being ignored. He decided to try talking to others instead. Unfortunately, he went from one end of the village to the other, from old people to children, but not a single person acknowledged him. Yú felt frustrated—was he really that unlikable?
Exiting the game, Yú opened his eyes only to be startled by several large faces staring back at him.
"Boss! Technical Director!"
"Yu, what are your thoughts?" Chu Donglai asked eagerly.
"Very good, very realistic!" Yu replied excitedly. "I can hardly believe I'm in the Holographic Online Game world; I thought I had arrived at a film set. Unfortunately, the environment of the film set isn't as beautiful as the holographic world, and the air isn't as fresh as in the game!"
"Do you think there are areas that need improvement?" Ma Congyun asked.
"The NPCs in the game don't pay any attention to me, and they all repeat the same action. It looks very stiff. Is it because the server hasn't launched yet?" Yu questioned.
Chu Donglai replied, "No! Although we now have the technology to convert keyboard games into online games, we can't achieve intelligent NPCs yet; we can only use the fixed NPC program from Six Realms."
"Then doesn't that take away a lot of the fun from the game?" Yu said. He had read many online game novels, and the most interesting parts were always about the protagonist's interactions with intelligent NPCs. If the NPCs aren't intelligent, the fun factor would drop significantly!
Ma Congyun said, "That's why we need to hire a group of employees to enter the game and play those important NPCs."
Role-playing? Yu's eyes lit up, setting aside his thoughts of just playing a character after the game launched. Being an NPC sounded much more fun than just being a player!
"Boss, can I sign up to play an NPC?" Yu shyly asked.
"Haha!" Everyone in the office laughed, and Yu looked at the five of them in confusion. What was so funny about his question?
Luo, one of the members of the development team, chuckled and said, "Hehe, you still want to? The boss has reserved an NPC role for each of us in the company."
"Really?" Yu's eyes sparkled.
Ma Congyun replied, "Of course! You can play an NPC, but it can't interfere with your actual work."
Yu Lianlian nodded, "I will definitely do my job well!"
She asked again, "Boss, which NP can I play?"
"How about taking care of you and letting you play the Emperor in the Palace, with three thousand beauties in the harem?" Chu Donglai said with a grin.
Yü's mouth twitched, "I don't want to be the Emperor; I want to be the leader of the Kunlun Sect!"
That was the number one expert in the immortal realm, his idol!
Luo chuckled, "I'll play the leader of Kunlun!"
"What about the leader of Shushan?"
Another developer, Qu, smiled, "The leader of Shushan is me! By the way, our boss lady is the leader of Penglai, Ma Zong has been designated as the demon king of the demon realm, and Director Chu is the King of Hell in the ghost realm."
The demon realm and divine realm have not been opened yet, so no one needs to play those roles.
"But I really don't want to be an Emperor who wears a green hat!" Yu lamented. The Palace segment included palace intrigue elements, referencing content from Empresses in the Palace and The Golden Branch and the Withered Leaves.
