After Xie Xun's enemies left, only the people from Emei remained. They stayed because of Guo Shouzhuo, as the Emei Sect originated from Peach Blossom Island and the Guo Family. Guo Shouzhuo was of the same generation as Miejue, making him their elder. Therefore, Jing Xuan brought a group of junior sisters and brothers to pay their respects to Guo Shouzhuo. Guo Shouzhuo learned about Miejue's character from the Seven Heroes of Wudang. He knew that although she was ruthless and arrogant, everything she did was for the sake of the Emei Sect, taking it upon herself to promote Emei. While he didn't particularly like Miejue's demeanor, they were still family, so Guo Shouzhuo decided to help her.
Guo Shouzhuo called Jing Xuan aside and secretly handed her two pieces of paper, instructing her, "When you return to Emei, privately give these two pieces of paper to your master. Tell her that everything she desires is on these papers. The sword is a keepsake left by my great-grandparents for their descendants; it would be best not to destroy it!"
Jing Xuan saw that the two pieces of paper were densely filled with tiny characters and didn't dare to look closely, quickly tucking them into her bosom.
Meanwhile, Bei Jinyi quietly asked Yin Liting about Ji Xiaofu's situation. It turned out that Ji Xiaofu had become a couple with Yang Xiao. This time Ji Xiaofu did not have a fiancé, and Yang Xiao was not from Ming Jiao; the two quickly became infatuated with each other. Ji Xiaofu joyfully returned to Emei wanting to get married, but Miejue, who had always regarded her as a successor, was displeased. Upon hearing that the man was Yang Xiao, Miejue immediately flew into a rage. Yang Xiao was the one who had caused Miejue's beloved to die of anger; how could she allow her cherished disciple to marry him? She forced Ji Xiaofu to kill Yang Xiao, but Ji Xiaofu naturally refused. Since Ji Xiaofu had not lost her virtue due to Yang Buhui's birth, Miejue merely locked Ji Xiaofu up instead of killing her as in the original story. Bei Jinyi sympathized with Ji Xiaofu's plight and secretly sent messages to Yang Xiao. To save his beloved, Yang Xiao boldly ventured into Emei alone. Having inherited the Dugu Sword Intent, Yang Xiao's martial arts were twice as strong as in the original story; he easily defeated Miejue and took away his beloved. Miejue lost face and became even more determined to obtain the Secret Manual within the sword. Feeling guilty for not living up to her master's teachings and unwilling to bring shame upon Miejue in the martial world, Ji Xiaofu chose to retreat with Yang Xiao back to the ancient tomb for a quiet life, never again stepping into the martial world. Bei Jinyi, being Ji Xiaofu's good junior sister and the only one who knew her whereabouts, got acquainted with Yang Yuchang and learned about her relationship with Yin Liting.
Yin Liting told Bei Jinyi that Ji Xiaofu was living happily; she had given birth to a son and a daughter—her daughter was Yang Buhui and her son was born last year, named Yang Buqi by Yang Xiao. "Since you do not regret it, I will never abandon you!"
After sending off the Emei Sect members, Zhang Cuishan and his wife learned from Mo Shenggu about Bai Tang's "immortal" identity. Surprised, they reined in their casual attitude and treated Bai Tang with great respect.
Bai Tang discussed ideas with Zhang Sanfeng and imparted concepts about breaking through voids before leaving Wudang with Song Qingshu. Regarding Song Qingshu and Zhou Zhiruo from the original story, Bai Tang felt pity for them; one was deceived by a scoundrel and a cold-hearted master while the other was coerced by villains for love and went astray. If someone had guided them correctly before they made mistakes, how could they have erred? Both young people were quite exceptional; they simply lacked protagonist aura and ended up on opposite sides of Zhang Wuji and Zhao Min.
Now that Yin Susu had offended Bai Tang, this not-so-generous woman decided to help Song Qingshu seize Yin Susu's son's Golden Finger. Moreover, Song Qingshu wasn't inherently bad; with timely guidance, he could become an excellent hero.
"Senior Bai, where are we going?" Now twelve years old, Song Qingshu appeared extremely excited since it was his first time coming down from the mountain.
"I'll take you to learn unparalleled martial arts; if you don't learn kung fu successfully, you can't leave the mountain. Do you want to go?" Bai Tang patted the boy's head; this child had been educated by his father to be mature beyond his years but now showed youthful liveliness.
"I want to go!" Song Qingshu remembered his father's warning that although Senior Bai looked young, he was more formidable than even their grandmaster; he must listen to Senior Bai’s words. Following Senior Bai would surely be a blessing for him; even a casual pointer would benefit him immensely.
"Well then, you need to prepare yourself mentally for being wild."
This was Bai Tang's nth visit to Kunlun Mountain; he was extremely familiar with its terrain and easily found the cliff where Zhang Wuji fell in the original story. Along the way, Bai Tang picked up plenty of food at Zhu Wu Lian Huan Village.
Looking down at the misty abyss below him where he couldn't see the bottom, Song Qingshu swallowed hard: "Do we really have to jump?"
"Are you going to jump or not?" Bai Tang asked with crossed arms.
"I'll jump!" Song Qingshu suppressed his fear, closed his eyes, stepped into thin air, breaking through the mist in the valley as he fell straight down.
"Not bad!" Bai Tang praised him before jumping down after him. He quickly caught up with Song Qingshu and grabbed him by his collar as they landed on a platform halfway down the mountain.
Song Youth opened his eyes and surveyed the surroundings. He saw that the platform was about ten zhang in diameter, with three sides open and half suspended in mid-air. There was truly no way forward or backward, making it a dead end. The large platform was covered in white ice and snow, with neither trees nor wild beasts in sight.
“Bai Senior, are we practicing here?” Song Qing Shu felt uneasy.
“No, it's over there!” Bai Tang pointed to a cave in the mountain wall that was about a person’s size.
“Let’s go in!” Bai Tang made an inviting gesture for Song Youth to enter.
The cave was quite long and became narrower as they went deeper. After entering for more than ten zhang, even Song Youth could not proceed further.
“Karen Adrian, it's up to you now.” Bai Tang called out to the long-absent companion. Karen Adrian lightly punched the hard rock, turning it into powder, widening the cave so that three people could continue forward. After walking a few more zhang, light began to filter in ahead, and Bai Tang was overjoyed, quickening his pace.
After walking for a while, sunlight suddenly dazzled them. The three closed their eyes to steady themselves and when they opened them again, they found themselves in a vibrant valley filled with flowers and greenery, red flowers and green trees intermingling beautifully. The cave they stood in was only about one zhang above the ground; with a gentle leap, they could land on the ground. Beneath their feet was soft grass, and they could smell the fragrant flowers. Birds chirped around them, and fresh fruits hung from branches. Who would have thought that behind this dark cave lay such a Cave of Abundance? Looking around, they saw that the valley was surrounded by towering mountains that seemed untouched by human presence since ancient times. Snow-capped peaks pierced the clouds all around, steep and sheer, impossible to climb. On the grass were seven or eight wild goats grazing peacefully; they did not flee at the sight of humans. Above them, more than ten monkeys leaped and played among the trees.
“Bai Senior, this place is just like the Peach Blossom Spring described by Tao Yuanming,” Song Youth exclaimed excitedly.
Bai Tang chuckled as he picked some unknown fruits from a low tree and tossed them to the youth: “Catch this; it’s delicious.”
As Song Youth caught the fruit, he smelled its sweet aroma. Taking a bite, he found it incredibly delicious—crisp like peaches, sweet like Apple, while pears were slightly less smooth.
“It’s really tasty!”
“Isn’t it good?” Bai Tang asked with a fruit in his mouth. “If I let you live here, would you be willing?”
“Huh?” Song Youth glanced around awkwardly and replied, “Although this place is nice, there are no signs of people…”
“With no human disturbance, you can focus on your training,” Bai Tang tossed away the fruit pit. “Do you know where your Wudang’s Nine Yang Skill originates from?”
Song Qing Shu replied without understanding: “My father learned it from a top-tier internal martial arts manual called Nine Yang Divine Skill, but my ancestral master only grasped one-third of it.”
Bai Tang said, "That's right. The 'Nine Yang Divine Skill' is buried in this valley."
"What?" Song Youth was so shocked that he almost jumped up.
Bai Tang chuckled, "I want to give you a great opportunity, and this is it."
"This, this..." Song Youth was so excited that he was at a loss for words. The 'Nine Yang Divine Skill' that his master had been obsessed with for decades was actually in his hands. If he brought it back to Wudang, his father would surely praise him—Song Youth was still a child longing for his father's approval.
"Follow me!" Bai Tang led Song Youth to the place where Yi Qian buried the book and instructed him to dig out an oiled paper package.
Song Youth opened the oiled paper package to find four scrolls inside. The pages were still intact, and there were several twisted characters written on the surface, none of which he recognized. As he flipped through the scrolls, he found them filled with these strange characters, but between each line, there were neatly written Chinese characters. The young man focused and read carefully from the beginning; the text seemed to record the techniques for cultivating energy. As he slowly recited it, he suddenly felt a jolt in his heart when he saw three lines of familiar scripture—it was indeed the 'Wudang Nine Yang Skill' taught by his master and father, but the text below was different. He casually flipped through a few more pages and found phrases from the 'Wudang Nine Yang Skill,' but sometimes they differed greatly from what his master and father had taught.
Song Youth's heart raced. He recalled stories that Zhang Sanfeng told his disciples during leisure time; at that time, he stood beside his father and listened to all of them: Zhang Sanfeng's master, Jueyuan, learned the 'Nine Yang True Classic' and recited it before passing away. Zhang Sanfeng, Guo Xiang, and Shaolin Sect’s Master Wushe each remembered a part of it, leading to significant advancements in martial arts among the Wudang, Emei, and Shaolin sects over the decades, making their names resound throughout the martial world.
"Master, isn't the 'Nine Yang True Classic' written within the folds of the Lankavatara Sutra? These twisted characters must be Sanskrit from the Lankavatara Sutra. I heard that someone stole the scriptures; how could they end up buried in a valley on Kunlun Mountain?" Song Youth had questions and asked them.
Bai Tang wanted to say, "Please refer to 'The Legend of the Condor Heroes.'" However, since the young man asked sincerely, she decided to compassionately share with curious Song Youth the strange history of the scriptures!
