In the dim room, there was a warmth that filled the air. 0

He stood to one side, gazing at the painting on the wall, where wildflowers in a glass vase were blooming beautifully. She lowered her brows, working on a new oil painting at the desk, her smile at the corners of her lips calm and lovely. 0

"Did Mo Su decorate the room like this?" he asked with a gentle smile, her bright eyes stirring something deep within him. 0

Her face flushed slightly. "Um, I just did it casually." 0

"Very good." His gaze was bright as he looked at her, and suddenly it felt surreal. The longing he had felt for years surged within him, overwhelming and intense. He reached out and pulled her into his embrace; her delicate and shy expression made him feel an immense affection. He leaned down and lightly kissed her rose-colored lips, feeling as if the fragrance of her lips filled the air, enough to soften even the hardest of hearts. 0

His carefulness made her heart tremble. She raised her brows slightly and playfully scolded him, "It seems like I'm about to leave." 0

"Mo Su, my future is quite dangerous," he said solemnly after a moment. 0

She paused, her bright eyes dimming for an instant, but without hesitation, she looked at him with a light smile at the corners of her lips just like before. "I know. I've said it before; wherever you are, I will be there too." 0

The sunlight was still good, and petals were falling like confetti. He looked at the faint dimple on her snow-white face and felt a tightness in his chest. She had eyes like paintings and knew that Shaoyi was worried about her safety. She smiled and said, "You just focus on fighting; I won't go anywhere in the military camp. Nothing will happen to me this time." 0

He stared at her intently; even the rustling sound of falling leaves around them became unclear. The room decorated by her exuded a freshness that belonged solely to her. He watched the light smile at the corners of her lips as if in this world there were only the two of them in silent communion. 0

A bird chirped, startling a few people awake. 0

Cheng Mo turned his gaze and smiled, "Dad insists on having another dinner with us before we go back. Are you anxious?" 0

"No." He shook his head. "Your father is leaving for America tomorrow, and who knows when you'll see each other again. You are his only daughter, so of course he hopes to spend a little more time with you." His voice grew heavy, and his Black Eyes sparkled with complex emotions. "And I truly want to spend more time with you without any distractions." 0

Cheng Mo felt a tightness in her heart as she gazed into his deep, night-like eyes. The sharp angles of his face had lost their coldness and harshness at this moment. Her nose inexplicably tinged with bitterness, and she trembled involuntarily, prompting him to hold her gently and say, "Why are you crying all of a sudden?" 0

"Nothing..." She lightly rubbed the corners of her eyes, her damp Eyelashes fluttering beautifully. He knew what she was thinking; this time when he returned to the military camp, he would have to continue fighting without pause. Life and Death had long been left to fate, so how could she feel at ease... 0

"Mo Su." He called her name but didn't know what to say to comfort her. He wanted to be with her until the end of his life, but Life and Death was ultimately beyond his control. Yet she seemed to understand his feelings, wiping away her tears and offering him a faint smile. 0

"Look at me, crying for no reason. How embarrassing." She tugged at the hem of his shirt, trying not to think about life and death, simply staring blankly at the ground. He fell silent too, and the air was filled with a futile stillness. 0

Three concise knocks on the door interrupted their thoughts. She responded softly, and outside the door, the wind whispered, "Miss, Young Master, dinner is ready." 0

She looked up in surprise; they had been silent for so long. Outside the window, golden sunlight bathed the silent earth in a layer of brilliant yellow hue. She raised her eyes to him; his handsome face was even more striking under the sunset's glow. Noticing her gaze, he looked back at her, infinite tenderness radiating from his pitch-black eyes, calming her heart. She smiled gently and said, "Let's go." 0

Downstairs sat only Cheng Yi alone, his expression steady. The dishes on the table were colorful and appetizing. She smiled lightly as she took her seat but felt a bit puzzled and asked, "Mr. Nan, isn't he joining us for dinner?" 0

"Mm." Cheng Yi nodded, glancing at his seated daughter. "I spoke with Mr. Nan. This may be a long separation between me and my daughter; some things are naturally meant for just the two of you." He glanced at Feng Yin and waved his hand. "Feng Yin, you can go out now; I'll call you if needed." 0

Cheng Mo was taken aback; she couldn't recall any reason to send Feng Yin away. Seeing Feng Yin also looking somewhat confused, she smiled at him and said, "You can go out first." 0

Only then did Feng Yin realize what was happening; he responded and closed the door behind him. 0

Shangguan Shaoyi didn't find anything wrong with it and immediately sat down beside Cheng Mo. His burning gaze fell on her delicate profile. Cheng Mo felt a bit shy; a blush crept onto her face as she gently pinched him under the table and whispered, "Dad is here; don't keep staring at me." 0

He, however, turned a blind eye, the corners of his lips lifting a few more degrees as he held her delicate little hand in his palm. She shot him a glare, but he only smiled wider. 0

Seeing the two of them so engrossed in their own world, Cheng Yi could only clear his throat softly a couple of times to draw their attention. He sighed, finally understanding what it meant to have a husband and forget about one's father. But the matter at hand was too serious for him to tease; he simply fixed his gaze on the dishes and said, "I specifically had Feng Yin buy these from the most famous restaurant in New Beicheng. Come and taste how it is." 0

Shangguan Shaoyi nodded and served Cheng Mo Su a piece of braised pork, gently saying, "Mo Su, you are too thin; you should eat more meat." 0

She smiled lightly, swallowing it down, feeling that the piece of meat melted in her mouth, offering a unique texture. Cheng Yi's eyes flickered as he picked up the wine glass in front of him, looking straight at the nearly overflowing liquid. "Shaoyi, we must drink this cup of wine. From now on, I entrust my only daughter to you; please take good care of her." 0

"Father-in-law, please rest assured. I cherish Mo Su more than anything," he raised his glass. Although Cheng Yi was merely repeating what he had said yesterday, he felt no irritation at all; every parent in the world shares the same concern for their children. 0

"Su'er, lift your glass," he commanded. Cheng Mo Su smiled gently and hurriedly picked up the cup beside her. 0

"This cup of wine is to wish you both happiness and also serves as my farewell before I go to America tomorrow." He tilted his head back and swallowed it down. Shangguan Shaoyi and Cheng Mo Su exchanged glances and drank it all in one go. 0

However, something was off about the taste of the wine. Shangguan Shaoyi's dark and bright eyes focused on the glass, feeling his vision start to blur. He struggled to keep looking at Cheng Mo Su but saw her slump backward as if she had lost all strength. He quickly caught her slender waist but was surprised to find that he couldn't muster any strength either; they both fainted just like that. 0
