Shangguan Shaoyi quietly looked at her, his pitch-black eyes radiating a cold and absolute light. He withdrew his hand that was resting on her shoulder, turning his gaze elsewhere, and simply said, "Feng Yin, help your young lady upstairs to rest. She is tired." 0

"Son-in-law..." Feng Yin's gaze shifted between the two, unsure of what to say, but she noticed Cheng Mosu's eyes were red, and she nodded slightly. She hurried to help Cheng Mosu up, feeling that Cheng Mosu had become even thinner, weaker than the willow outside the window. 0

Night gradually deepened without notice. She only instructed Feng Yin to turn on a small pink silk desk lamp. The soft yellow and light pink colors intertwined, casting a gentle glow. Seeing the sorrow displayed on her face, Feng Yin noticed her eyes seemed filled with unspoken worries, soft and watery, with a slight frown that evoked sympathy. 0

"Miss, you have been sitting like this all afternoon without eating or speaking. Please don't scare me," Feng Yin said anxiously. 0

She raised her eyes and glanced at Feng Yin lightly. She was no longer clear about her feelings for Ruan Yu, but she absolutely could not tolerate harming Shaoyi because of Ruan Yu. She remained silent; not eating or drinking was actually her way of punishing herself. 0

The door was gently pushed open, and upon seeing it was Shangguan Shaoyi, Feng Yin couldn't help but feel delighted. "Son-in-law, you finally came! The young lady hasn’t eaten or spoken; it’s good that you’re here to keep her company." 0

He furrowed his brows tightly, his black eyes as cold as a deep pool. He raised his hand to signal Feng Yin to leave. Feng Yin bowed and retreated but then heard his slightly cool voice say, "Go tell the kitchen to cook a bowl of red bean glutinous rice balls." 0

"Yes." 0

The door was gently closed, leaving only the two of them in silence. He took a few steps forward; whether it was due to the light or her mood, he noticed her pale cheeks were now flushed like peach blossoms. He reached out to touch her forehead and found it burning hot. 0

He was startled. "How come you have a fever again?" 0

"Hmm?" She seemed unaware and reached up to touch her forehead. The heat felt like a branding iron and surprised her as well; the corners of her lips revealed a hint of a smile. "It really is... I have a fever again." 0

Anger slowly built up in his eyes as he adjusted the blanket for her. "You have a fever and still refuse to eat or drink; what are you trying to prove?" She opened her mouth to say something but heard Feng Yin push the door open, gently blowing on the glutinous rice balls in her hands. Shangguan Shaoyi reached out, and Feng Yin handed him the blue-and-white porcelain bowl. 0

He scooped up a crystal-clear Glutinous Rice Ball and brought it to her lips. She had no appetite at all; she only felt an overwhelming darkness before her eyes, as if her entire being was being torn apart by excruciating pain, a weight like a thousand pounds pounding on her Sun point, nearly causing her to faint. 0

He silently watched her, his heart twisting painfully. Just having her back by his side filled him with immense joy; how could he still hold onto the past grievances? 0

He took a deep breath, gently set the Porcelain Bowl aside, and adjusted the velvet pillow for her to rest more comfortably. However, she grasped his wrist, and in her dazed state, met his Black as Ink eyes. Her Rose-Colored Lips parted slightly, and he understood her intention, quickly taking the Porcelain Bowl back in hand and gently placing a Glutinous Rice Ball into her mouth. 0

She smiled lightly; the sweet taste of red bean instantly revived her senses, though her voice remained ethereal and elusive. "Delicate dice with red beans, do you know the longing that penetrates to the bone?" 0

He paused slightly, gazing at her flushed cheeks, feeling deeply captivated by her. The corners of her lips lifted gently, and her snow-like Countenance radiated a soft charm under the Light. Her smile and voice made him yearn for her even more. She said he did not understand her longing; such words truly pierced his heart. 0

He embraced her, looking at her delicate cheeks as his heart raced irregularly. He lowered his Eyes to observe the rising corners of her Lips and leaned down to press against her Rose-Colored Lips, allowing their breaths to intertwine. 0

He whispered softly in her ear, "Exchange my heart for your heart; only then will I know how deep our memories run." 0

Her Water-colored Eyes shimmered slightly as she saw the overflowing emotions in his Black Eyes. The profound darkness merged with the tranquil night and flowed into her very being. She coughed lightly, and he hurriedly helped ease her breathing when they heard a series of footsteps outside; it was Mr. Nan Wan who had come to fetch a doctor. 0

He stepped back to create some space as the doctor attended to Cheng Mosu's injuries. He stood by watching the blush on her face, feeling an unexpected calm settle in his heart. Nan Wan slowly walked up behind him with a somewhat serious expression, patting his shoulder to signal him to talk in the study for a moment. 0

He glanced at Cheng Mosu and saw that with the Doctor and Feng Yin attending to her, she should be fine. He then followed Nan Wan into the study. However, Nan Wan's seriousness had not diminished at all; in fact, it seemed even more intense than before. Nan Wan lit a cigar and sighed at his puzzled expression before saying, "My brothers from the Southern Gang in the north reported something important to me today." 0

"What is it?" A sense of foreboding swept through him. 0

Sure enough, he saw Nan Wan shake his head, reluctant to elaborate further but handed him the confidential report instead. He took it and felt his Black as Ink pupils constrict sharply; he stood there in shock as his face turned pale. This was the first time he felt such exhaustion wash over him. 0

"The Japanese Army just used the excuse of the missing soldiers to request an inspection of New Beicheng, which was rejected by Deputy Officer Shen. Unexpectedly, the Japanese Army immediately opened fire on Deputy Officer Shen's troops and bombarded New Beicheng. Deputy Officer Shen's life and death are now uncertain." Nan Wan's brow furrowed deeper, his voice heavy with concern. 0

He paused for a moment, his expression stern, and quickly formed a decision in his mind. "I will return to the north tonight. Cheng Mosu is unwell, so I ask Mr. Nan to take care of her." 0

"Don't worry, I greatly appreciate Cheng Mosu's character and will do my utmost to look after her. You can rest assured and go back." 0

As soon as they finished speaking, they heard several messengers knocking at the door of the study. Nan Wan's expression changed slightly as he said, "Go away; I am currently receiving guests." 0

"Master, this time it's not for you; it's for Shangguan Shaoying," replied the messenger. 0

Nan Wan frowned, knowing that there were not many people from Shangguan Shaoyi in his home, so it must be... 0

He glanced at Shangguan Shaoyi and saw that she looked enlightened, her voice carrying a hint of coldness. "It should be General Jiang." 0

He reached out to open the door and saw the messenger presenting a document. "This is a document from General Jiang. Please Young Commander, hurry to Jiang Family Mansion for an urgent matter!" 0
