Cheng Mosu quickly searched and, seeing that Shangguan Shaoyi's name was indeed absent, finally felt relieved. The past few days had felt like a dream; first, Shaoyi had been unable to withstand the Japanese Army and retreated to the South Bank, and then he successfully repelled the Japanese Army's rubber boats from crossing the river seven times at the South Bank. 0

She slowly exhaled, watching him win the battle and knowing his life was safe, her mood lifted a bit, and a faint smile appeared on her face. Feng Yin couldn't help but tease, "Miss, are you happy now?" 0

She shot Feng Yin a glance and asked her to bring Ling Heng over. The days had been spent playing with Ling Heng, who leaned in her arms, babbling away. She gently held up a newspaper, pointing to the photo of Shangguan Shaoyi published on it, and said with a smile, "Look, this is Daddy. You should call him 'Daddy.'" 0

Ling Heng waved his hands excitedly, his bright black eyes resembling Shangguan Shaoyi's. She quietly observed Ling Heng's features beginning to take shape and felt he seemed to be carved from the same mold as Shaoyi. 0

"The weather looks nice today; shall we take Ling Heng out for a walk?" Cheng Mosu gazed out the window with a faint smile. Feng Yin quickly agreed; their Ford car was still at home, but there was no one to drive it. If they went out, they would have to trouble the rickshaw driver, and she needed to call for a car first. 0

Around four in the afternoon, they finally got ready and slowly stepped outside. However, just as they reached the door, they saw a royal blue sedan parked in front of them. Huang Wei rolled down the window and flashed her a smile, seemingly telling her that she had been waiting for a long time. 0

Cheng Mosu handed Ling Heng to Feng Yin and walked slowly up to Huang Wei, smiling as she said, "Huang Wei, what brings you here?" 0

"Not much; I heard you were back and wanted to see you. The last time we met was at Uncle Cheng's funeral; it feels like quite some time ago," she said while looking at Ling Heng in Feng Yin's arms, her smile brightening. "This must be your son; he looks so adorable and really resembles his father." 0

"Yes, he's like a miniature version of him." She smiled lightly, momentarily at a loss for words with Huang Wei. Huang Wei paused deliberately before continuing the conversation. "Come on, let me treat you to dinner. There are some things I really want to discuss with you. Besides you, I can't find anyone else to talk to." 0

Seeing Huang Wei's serious demeanor made Cheng Mosu think there was something important on her mind. She turned to Feng Yin and said softly, "Feng Yin, let's not go out today; you take Ling Heng back home. I’ll go out with Huang Wei for a chat." 0

"Understood." Feng Yin nodded in agreement and took Ling Heng back inside. 0

Although there had been constant warfare recently, there were still people who needed to survive and enjoy life. Therefore, merchants from various countries continued to come into the Concession Area to open restaurants with diverse styles and unique flavors. Today they were going to an Italian restaurant. It was just afternoon tea time—the most leisurely moment for the ladies. The enchanting light illuminated her fair cheeks, and her rose-colored lips looked delicate and dewy like flower petals. She gently fluttered her eyelashes and suddenly felt a sense of daze wash over her. 0

It seems that the empty life of the past has not left, and now the chaotic world is disturbing the future. 0

"What would you like to eat, ladies?" 0

"The last time I went out for tea with you, others still called me 'Miss.' Now I am already a lady. Time passes so quickly; it truly shows no mercy." Huang Wei said with a hint of bitter laughter. Cheng Mosu looked at her and suddenly felt that she seemed as innocent and happy as before, carefree. 0

Cheng Mosu quietly stared at the menu, her voice soft and slow. "I’ll have two cups of black coffee, a serving of Foie Gras, an avocado crab salad, a grilled bass, and a potato bacon soup." 0

"Also add a hot chocolate soufflé and a serving of crab leg lasagna," Huang Wei added two more items. Meeting Cheng Mosu's eyes, she noticed the overflowing smile on her face and heard Cheng Mosu say, "We really can eat! With this much for afternoon tea, we won't need dinner." 0

"If we don't eat, we don't eat," Huang Wei replied with a light smile. 0

The waiter first brought two cups of black coffee. For the first time, Cheng Mosu did not add sugar; she simply stirred the rich brew with a small spoon. After a while, she heard Huang Wei's voice, as if it were coming from far away. The two chatted over tea, laughing and joking as if it were something that happened in a past life. The longest memories are often the hardest to bear; one hates that they cannot return to those old times but cannot forget how things used to be. Now they could only feel the delayed loneliness and melancholy. 0

Huang Wei picked up the silver-pink coffee cup and drank it all in one go. The bitterness filled her mouth; her cheeks were as red as peach blossoms, her smile radiant. "Cheng Mosu, I'm leaving. I'm going away from here." 0

She paused slightly; recently, the world had been chaotic, and indeed many families were fleeing abroad. However, Huang Wei's husband worked in government; how could such a crucial moment lead to... 0

Huang Wei's lips curled into a bitter smile. "I divorced him. This time I'm going with my brother and dad; I probably won't come back. Before I leave, I wanted to see you one last time and talk with you more." She stopped speaking and sat quietly, feeling something inside her being pulled painfully, so much so that she felt breathless and her mood turned to despair. 0

"I always heard my parents say that matching social status is the most important thing, but I never expected that a loveless marriage is worthless!" Huang Wei suddenly became emotional for some unknown reason. "He almost divorced me for a singer! I was disheartened and took the initiative to propose divorce. When I was young and read Dream of the Red Chamber, I never understood why those who matched in status ended up in such tragic situations; now I finally understand. Look outside this window; the sky is changing. It used to be filled with vibrant colors, but now it's all turned to ruins." 0

"Huang Wei, you..." Cheng Mosu was taken aback, unsure how to comfort Huang Wei. 0

“Cheng Mosu, you have someone you love, and you can bloom like a flower just for him, flowing like water through the years. But I, I truly do not know where my heart has gone, leaving me with nothing but sorrow.” Her emotions were in turmoil, and Eyelashes trembled violently. She could only push open the window, allowing the neither cold nor warm autumn breeze to calm her thoughts. 0

The two sat in silence, and the moonlight had already adorned the city in silver, reflecting against the neon lights, creating a dreamlike blend of desolation and splendor. Cheng Mosu felt a sharp pain in her heart, like raindrops beating down, and that vague melancholy would not allow her to find peace. 0

As she and Huang Wei exited the restaurant, they noticed the autumn rain soaking everything, rendering the world eerily quiet. Their Qipao was slightly dampened, and the laughter from days gone by turned over in her mind, burning like fire in her heart. 0

“Extra! Extra! Shangguan Shaoying injured in Suzhou City! Heavily wounded by Japanese Army artillery!” 0

Cheng Mosu felt a sudden tightness in her chest and nearly fainted. She hurriedly grabbed the Newsboy, asking, “What… what did you say?!” 0

“Extra! Extra! Shangguan Shaoying injured in Suzhou City! Heavily wounded by Japanese Army artillery!” The Newsboy shouted again. 0

In an instant, her world changed. 0
