"Be careful from here on out; we're gradually entering the depths of Azure Mist Mountain. King-Class Monsters are quite common there, and there are also quite a few Emperor-Level Beasts. Don't let them set their sights on us," Leizhen said with a serious expression.
"I hope we have better luck and can leave this place soon," Ren Pingsheng nodded in agreement.
It had taken them three months to travel this far. They had covered a million miles and encountered many Demon Beasts along the way, but fortunately, they were strong enough to handle them. However, if they ventured deeper, even a single encounter with an Emperor-Level Beast could cost them their lives.
"Let's go; follow me!" Leizhen whispered, and the three of them entered the most dangerous area of Azure Mist Mountain, one that had not seen visitors for a long time. Their presence broke the silence of the place.
"Roar..." The depths of Azure Mist Mountain were still bustling with activity, filled with the roars and sounds of battles between Demon Beasts. Although King-Class Monsters could transform, many preferred to maintain their original forms, as that was when they were at their strongest.
"Damn it, let's move!" Leizhen suddenly cursed and quickly changed direction. Ahead, two King-Class Monsters were engaged in battle, producing deafening roars and terrifying shockwaves that left the surroundings in chaos.
Ren Pingsheng clicked his tongue in amazement; he understood the power of King-Class Monsters but did not expect to encounter two of them so casually.
The journey had been tough for the three of them; they were constantly on edge as they faced beings they could not provoke. Fortunately, all three were skilled at concealing their presence, allowing them to navigate through without major incidents. Leizhen was a King-Level Expert, Ren Pingsheng possessed the Azure Emperor's Breath Control Technique, and Yi Qingyi appeared relaxed and had never been detected.
"Cough cough... Now I finally understand why so many people fear the depths of Azure Mist Mountain. It's terrifying here," Leizhen said with a slight cough, visibly shaken.
Despite their caution, they unexpectedly encountered an Emperor-Level Beast that spotted them immediately. The Demon Beast merely swatted at them lightly, injuring Leizhen severely without any chance to fight back. Just when they felt despairing, for some unknown reason, the Emperor-Level Beast retreated, allowing them to escape disaster.
"Yes, we haven't even truly entered the depths yet; it must be even more terrifying in there," Ren Pingsheng said, still recovering from the pressure exerted by the Emperor-Level Beast.
"Qingyi, are you alright?" She turned to see Yi Qingyi's pale face and asked with concern.
"Ren Brother, I'm fine; don't worry! We will definitely make it safely through Azure Mist Mountain," she replied with a smile, seemingly unscathed by her injuries.
Fortunately, the territory of the Demon Beasts here is quite large, and this area belongs to an Emperor-Level Beast. After it retreated, no other Demon Beasts dared to come near. The three of them rested here for several days until their injuries healed. Then they set off in the direction of the Eastern Region.
They traveled through the outermost areas of Azure Mist Mountain. Although they were deep within, they certainly avoided the central locations where more powerful creatures resided. They wisely took a curved route along the edges instead of going straight through. Even so, they faced life-threatening dangers.
Of course, while there were risks, there were also rewards. Along the way, they inadvertently encountered many rare Elixirs, some of which greatly aided their cultivation and brought them joy for quite some time.
“Not good! We’ve encountered a terrifying creature—run!” While walking cautiously, Leizhen, who was at the front, suddenly shouted and turned to flee. Ren Pingsheng and Yi Qingyi reacted quickly and followed suit.
As Ren Pingsheng ran, he caught a glimpse of a figure quietly hovering in mid-air, its cold eyes staring at them as if looking at corpses.
“Human? No, this is a transformed Demon Beast!” He immediately realized what it was. The overwhelming aura emanating from it shocked him even more; it was on par with the Emperor-Level Beast they had encountered earlier, perhaps even stronger.
“What a strange feeling; there’s something about this woman that feels familiar!” The Transforming Beast murmured softly from mid-air.
Without any visible movement from it, after running for over ten miles, the three felt a tightening sensation throughout their bodies and involuntarily retreated back to where they had come from, as if their earlier escape had never happened. However, their faces were filled with horror.
Such terrifying abilities likely belonged to an extremely fearsome creature. There was no way they could fight against it; this time, they feared for their lives.
The Transforming Beast silently observed the three of them without speaking. Most of its attention was focused on Yi Qingyi, as if assessing her. Ren Pingsheng and Leizhen were merely glanced at briefly.
“Where do you come from?” it suddenly asked, its gaze fixed intently on Yi Qingyi.
“I... I come from Wanyao Mountain!” Yi Qingyi replied hesitantly.
“Wanyao Mountain? I see. Then what is your connection to the Nine-Tails?”
"It... it's my master!" She turned her eyes and said softly. She glanced at Ren Pingsheng as if afraid he would hear.
"That explains it. So you're a disciple of Nine-Tails. What are you doing mixed up with two humans? And how did you end up here?" The shapeshifting beast asked lightly.
"We... we were being chased and wanted to escape to the Eastern Region, so we thought we could pass through Cangmang Mountain. These two are my saviors, so we stayed together," Yi Qingyi said half-truthfully.
Ren Pingsheng and Leizhen could only see Yi Qingyi talking to the shapeshifting beast but couldn't hear what was being said. They immediately realized that the beast must have used some trick. As for the reason, they had no idea; right now, they were focused on how to escape, with no time to think about anything else.
"Is that so? Don't you know that our Cangmang Mountain and your Wanyao Mountain don't have a good relationship? You come here, and Nine-Tails isn't worried about you getting into trouble?"
"I... I didn't know. I sneaked out," Yi Qingyi said, feeling a bit embarrassed as she stuck out her tongue and spoke softly.
"Hmph, if that's the case, then you should leave quickly! As for these two, just leave them here!" He seemed to intend to make things difficult for Yi Qingyi, but Ren Pingsheng and Leizhen were not going to receive such favorable treatment.
"No way! We came together, so we must leave together. At most, we can just leave Cangmang Mountain right away."
"Are you negotiating with me? Don't think that just because you're Nine-Tails' disciple, I won't dare do anything to you. Leave quickly, before I change my mind." He said somewhat displeased.
"I won't go! If you don't let them go, then I won't leave either. If you want to kill us, then do it all at once!" Yi Qingyi glanced at Ren Pingsheng and immediately shouted in grievance.
"Very well, since you want to die, I'll grant your wish!" A flash of anger crossed the shapeshifting beast's face. The three felt increasingly uncomfortable as if the entire space was continuously squeezing them, trying to crush them into pulp. This power was something they simply could not withstand.
"Pfft..." The three couldn't help but spit out blood; now even breathing was difficult for them. Their bodies were being deformed from the pressure, and it seemed they were on the brink of death.
Suddenly, a burst of Thunder Light erupted from Leizhen's body, surprisingly pushing the space apart and slowly allowing him to break free.
"Let me go!" Leizhen roared with bared teeth and a fierce expression. The Thunder Light intensified, turning completely blood-red. The blood-colored lightning could kill royal-level powerhouses, its power was astonishing. The space around them began to distort, slowly loosening.
"Oh, interesting. It seems you are the much-talked-about inheritor of the Thunder God, and you do have some strength," the shape-shifting beast said with some surprise. "Unfortunately, your strength is still too weak. If you were to cultivate further, I might have to regard you with some caution, but as it stands, struggling is futile."
As soon as he finished speaking, the surrounding space trembled, compressing the Thunder Light back down, making it smaller and smaller. Eventually, the Thunder Light shattered completely, and the three returned to the brink of life and death.
"Greedy Wolf, leave these three; I have some use for them." Suddenly, a voice filled with deep weariness echoed from the void, reaching their ears. The pressure surrounding Ren Pingsheng and the others vanished in an instant.
"Lord Saint!" The shape-shifting beast in mid-air changed its expression and immediately spoke respectfully.
"Yes, Greedy Wolf, inform the others to come to me in half a year. The Heaven and Earth Cataclysm is approaching; your strength still falls short," the voice clarified its source as if resonating within their hearts, creating a strange feeling.
"Yes, Lord Saint, we will definitely arrive on time." The beast's face lit up with joy as it bowed and then glanced at Ren Pingsheng and the others before disappearing. It seemed that what had just been said had taken effect; for now, they had temporarily escaped the crisis of life and death.
But who was the owner of that voice? This puzzled them; it was certain that it was someone even more powerful. Otherwise, why would the shape-shifting beast show such respect? The three exchanged glances, feeling somewhat anxious. They feared they had escaped from a wolf's den only to fall into a tiger's lair!
"Come over here!" As soon as those words fell, the three felt the world shift. When they reappeared, they found themselves in a completely unfamiliar place.
"Sss... What terrifying means!" Leizhen gasped in shock. As the inheritor of the Thunder God, he naturally understood more about such matters. Such teleportation was not something ordinary people could achieve; only a saint-level powerhouse could do this.
"A saint-level powerhouse?" Ren Pingsheng, though astonished, managed to calm himself down. He speculated about why such a powerful being would seek them out. Logically speaking, their strongest capability was merely that of royal-level warriors; there should be nothing that would attract such a powerful figure's attention.
"I should have known to take more time and detour through other states. This vast mountain range is too terrifying; not to mention royal-level beasts, I recently encountered a shape-shifting imperial-level beast, and now another even more terrifying saint-level beast has appeared." He couldn't help but feel uneasy inside.
