"Leo, hurry up and get in the car!" Mike shouted.
Leo dashed through the dust and finally jumped into Mike's " The Weasel "—a high-speed and agile vehicle that could only accommodate two people, but performed exceptionally well in complex terrains on the battlefield. Leo glanced at the remaining Iron Fist and wolf pack members—only four of them left, and they quickly got into the other " The Weasel " vehicles.
"The nuclear bomb is set to detonate in seven minutes. We must reach the evacuation point before then!" Leo's voice revealed a sense of urgency as he tightly gripped the armrest of his seat, his lips trembling slightly.
Mike slammed on the gas pedal, and the vehicle's engine roared, shooting across the red earth like a bolt of lightning. The red soil was churned up by the vehicle's tires, sparking small bursts of fire into the air.
Suddenly, the ground began to tremble faintly but rapidly. Leo and Mike almost simultaneously exchanged a glance, both of them showing a sense of foreboding on their faces.
"Not good, that guy is still nearby!" Mike said, his face tense as he tightly gripped the steering wheel.
At that moment, the ground erupted with violent shaking, as if the entire planet was trembling. A massive tentacle, taller than any building, suddenly burst from the ground and lunged towards " The Weasel ".
"Quick, take cover!" Leo shouted, but it was already too late.
The tentacle swept over like a huge whip, instantly sending " The Weasel " and other team members flying.
Leo and Mike felt like they were being launched into the air in a huge parabolic arc, and the whole world became blurry. From above, they saw the giant beast angrily swinging its terrifying tentacles on the ground, emitting an increasingly deafening roar from its mouth.
Then, gravity once again took effect.
The two of them fell heavily to the ground, and the surrounding dust scattered like smoke. " The Weasel " also overturned next to them, its body clearly severely damaged, almost becoming a pile of scrap metal.
"Mike, are you okay?" Leo struggled to push away the dust and debris on his body and managed to climb up.
Mike leaned against the overturned " The Weasel " vehicle, his face pale, and his body below the shoulders crushed and unable to move. He smiled painfully, "Leo, don't mind me, just take everyone and go quickly."
Leo's eyes turned red, and he shook his head, "Absolutely not, I can't leave you behind!"
Mike suddenly turned his head towards Leo, his eyes filled with anger, "Second Lieutenant, do your duty! Lead the remaining people and quickly reach the evacuation point."
Mike's hand traced an arc, pointing towards the rear. The members of Alpha and Bravo teams struggled to stand up. Dust covered their armor, and their expressions were filled with exhaustion and sorrow. Two or three members had even lost their lives in the recent tentacle attack.
With the last of his strength, Mike pulled Leo closer, a pained smile appearing on his lips. "I will die like a warrior. Now, go do what you must do."
Mike's hand trembled for a moment, but he still firmly took the plasma grenade from Leo. He coughed, blood at the corner of his mouth, but still managed a determined smile.
"You have to survive, Leo. Tell everyone that I found my purpose and dignity in battle."
Leo's eyes became even more moist, and he bit down on his lower lip to stop himself from crying out. "You are the bravest warrior, Mike. I will make sure everyone remembers you."
Mike looked deeply at Leo, a kind of resonance beyond words, as if their unspoken understanding from many battles had coalesced into a silent vow.
"Let's go, time is running out."
Leo tightly grabbed Mike's hand, as if trying to transfer the warmth of life to him, then suddenly turned around and shouted towards the direction of Alpha and Bravo Team.
"All personnel, evacuate immediately! Gather at the designated evacuation point - our time is extremely limited!"
Members of Alpha and Bravo Team quickly regained their composure. Perhaps puzzled by the recent carnage, they all respected Mike and Leo's decision. They swiftly picked up their scattered weapons and equipment, moving resolutely toward the designated evacuation point.
Mike's dark skin stood out remarkably against the red earth of Four Minnow Star, as if it were a piece of obsidian floating in a sea of fire. He felt every muscle, every cell screaming in agony, but he still controlled himself because he knew he had one last mission to complete.
His hand groped on the ground and finally touched the gun beside him. The gun was cold, which gave him a strange sense of comfort. He tightly gripped the handle, aimed at the ground, and began to pull the trigger.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!" The sound of gunfire echoed across the vast plain, reverberating between distant valleys and gorges. Each bullet seemed like a call, summoning the hidden behemoth beneath the earth.
Sure enough, the ground began to tremble once more, this time more violently than before. Mike felt as if he were standing in an unstable sea, each tremor nearly knocking him off his feet. But what was even more terrifying was the sense of a massive creature rapidly approaching him from underground.
He forced a bitter smile at the corner of his mouth, then activated the plasma grenade in his hand. The indicator light on the grenade began to flash rapidly, emitting a "beep-beep" sound. Each "beep" felt like a countdown, ticking away the lives of both him and the behemoth on this planet.
Finally, with a deafening roar, the behemoth burst from the ground. Its massive mouth opened, filled with rows of sharp teeth like a terrifying death trap. Its eyes locked onto Mike, as if already considering him its next meal.
At that moment, Mike exerted all his strength and let out a earth-shattering roar. His roar intertwined with the monster's roar, creating a chilling sound wave.
"This is for you, you bastard!" Mike tightly gripped the plasma grenade in his hand, a hint of madness and despair on his face.
Afterwards, a deafening explosion reverberated across the red earth of the Four Minnow Star. A massive fireball instantly engulfed Mike and the giant beast, like a brief but brilliant firework. The fire, smoke, and debris seemed like a revelry of doomsday, soaring high into the sky before falling again, turning into a ground of ashes and wreckage.
The beast's furious roar abruptly ceased, and Mike had completed his final and most important mission in his life. He knew that even though he no longer existed, this battle would become an indelible part of the Four Minnow Star, and indeed the entire history of the universe.
