"Listen up, our main purpose here is to protect this high point and provide a safe evacuation opportunity for everyone. Do you understand?" His tone was sharp, as if scolding a group of unruly children. 0

Major Jack realized the soldiers present were unhappy with him and felt his authority was in jeopardy. So he began to speak in a strange and ambiguous manner. 0

"Oh, I see some people are not very satisfied, is it Leo?" He twisted his mouth in a strange way and continued, "Since you lead so well, why did Bravo Team suffer heavy casualties and require Alpha Team to come to the rescue? That, what's his name, Mike or something, had to sacrifice himself to cover for you. Didn't you say you were fully prepared?" 0

As soon as the words fell, the atmosphere instantly became extremely tense. All the soldiers' eyes were focused on the confrontation between Leo and Major Jack, and the standoff seemed to freeze the entire air. 0

Leo didn't say much, his eyes had already said it all. He suddenly punched Major Jack hard in the face, causing him to fall to the ground instantly. 0

"You are not worthy of leading in any way!" Leo roared, mercilessly pounding Major Jack's face with punch after punch, as if trying to release all his anger and dissatisfaction. 0

No soldier present made a move to stop him. In fact, they seemed relieved and satisfied, as if at that moment, they were finally able to release the deep-seated resentment and hatred they held towards Major Jack. 0

Major Jack lay on the ground, his bruised face and disheveled appearance forming a stark contrast to his previous superiority and arrogance, making people involuntarily want to mock him. He finally realized that his actions this time might cost him dearly. 0

The surrounding soldiers silently watched all of this, knowing full well that in this interstellar war, sometimes internal conflicts and rifts can be even more deadly than external enemies. 0

When the convoy roared into the evacuation point, a heavy atmosphere enveloped everyone present. The soldiers of Alpha and Bravo teams, including Leo, silently boarded the waiting armored personnel carrier. Their faces showed exhaustion, but their eyes were filled with suppressed sparks, as if they had a thousand words to say but were being restrained by strict military discipline. 0

Leo tightly gripped his weapon and glanced at Major Jack sitting in another personnel carrier. The major's face had become contorted, as if violently twisted out of shape. He knew all too well that this was all due to the major's excessive confidence and arrogance. 0

Major Jack slowly sat in another car and shared a ride with Major General Li. The light inside the car made the major's face look even more gloomy. Major General Li could see his predicament at a glance, but just shook his head slightly, seeming unwilling to say more. 0

"General, those troublemakers, they simply don't understand how to respect their superiors! What should I do..." Major Jack tried to explain, but every word in his throat was blocked by the swollen muscles in his face. 0

"I clearly did everything right, those people, they—" His voice was filled with anger and self-pity. 0

Major General Li had been listening on the side, initially indifferent, but later becoming increasingly impatient. He rolled his eyes and finally couldn't help but interrupt him: "Jack, shut up. You're only making things worse. If you're really so good at making excuses, then I suggest you go home and stop being a soldier." 0

Major Jack's face suddenly turned pale, realizing that he had seriously offended the general. He closed his mouth and remained silent, although his heart was still filled with grievances and anger. 0

The armored vehicle convoy passed through the desolate battlefield, gradually moving away from the danger zone. Everyone had their own thoughts, whether they were low-ranking soldiers or senior officers. Especially Major General Li, as he looked at the scenery quickly passing by outside the window, he also had mixed feelings deep inside. He knew that in this war, the problem was far more than just Xyphos; it was the complexity and selfishness of human nature, which might be the most difficult part of the war to resolve. 0

Major Jack bowed his head in silence, and Major General Li remained silent as well. The convoy continued to move forward, but the atmosphere inside the vehicle became even heavier. Like the smoke and blood on the battlefield, some things may never truly be eradicated. 0

The armored vehicle slowly drove through the desolate land of Four Minnow Star, and the scene outside the window was chilling. Large numbers of Xyphos remains were scattered on the ground, some shattered by explosions and others pierced by firearms, displaying the intense battle of life and death. However, among these remains, there were also the bodies of many human soldiers lying. 0

Under the intense sunlight of the Four Minnow Star, these corpses have begun to show abnormal signs. Some soldiers' faces are contorted to the point of being inhuman, while others have been corroded by the venom of the Insect tribe, with horrifying black spots appearing on their skin. What's most chilling is that some of the bodies are surrounded by wriggling Xyphos larvae, as if waiting to turn these dead into their new breeding ground. 0

Seeing this, Leo's anger surged. He suddenly remembered Mike's sacrifice, the good brother who always wore a smile, spoke little but was trustworthy. He lost his life in this senseless massacre, while Leo could only helplessly watch him walk towards death. 0

He felt angry at his own incompetence, and every life he couldn't save felt like a sharp knife piercing deeply into his heart. What he couldn't bear even more was the sight of these disgusting Xyphos in front of him, who not only took Mike away but also destroyed countless innocent people's homes and lives. 0

At this moment, he only wanted to kill more of these vermin, using their blood to cleanse the hatred and inferiority in his heart. He tightly gripped his weapon, as if drawing endless strength from it, ready to throw himself into the next battle at any moment. 0
