Miss Li Fei'er's twenty-fourth birthday party was held at Cyrus Hotel.
Mi Li felt that the lurking tigress was about to unleash her fury.
On the day of the party, President Ji gifted Mi Li a champagne-colored lace mermaid gown, asking her to wear it and accompany him to the event.
When Li Fei'er saw them appear together, she proudly handed her champagne to Ji Xiaocheng and said, "Fan, I gave you a chance to explain, but you kept me waiting. This roadside weed is enough to taste; do you really think of her as a treasure?"
Mi Li was furious upon hearing this and was about to defend herself when President Ji stepped forward and stood in front of her, saying to Li Fei'er, "Let's cancel the engagement. Marrying a man you don't love won't bring you happiness."
"On what basis do you say I don't love you?" Li Fei'er retorted.
Mi Li squeezed between them and snatched the champagne glass from Ji Xiaocheng's hand. "You don't even know he has chronic gastritis and still let him drink. You lack basic concern and dare to talk about love? Young lady, spare us!"
Ji Xiaocheng smiled gently, his dark eyes sparkling as he wrapped an arm around Mi Li's waist. "Let's go!"
Li Fei'er was not willing to back down; she raised her hand to slap Mi Li.
Mi Li quickly sidestepped to avoid it.
She was not a weak and easily bullied flower; it wouldn't be that easy to hit her!
However, in an unfortunate misstep, she stepped on her gown's hem and fell flat on the ground.
At that moment, her heart was almost shattered; she had tripped over herself in front of her rival, feeling utterly foolish.
Li Fei'er laughed gleefully, a flash of resentment in her eyes, and then lifted her foot to aim at Mi Li's back.
Ji Xiaocheng was quick to react, crouching down to grab Li Fei'er's ankle, his expression dark as he said in a low voice, "If you touch my woman again, I'll break your foot!"
Li Fei'er pulled back her leg, revealing red marks on her ankle that made her gasp in pain. "Ji Xiaocheng, you'll regret this!"
She glared fiercely at Mi Li, wishing she could burn two holes into her back.
All the embarrassment and awkwardness were swept away by Ji Xiaocheng's domineering declaration of "my woman." Mi Li regained her composure and happily followed Qi Qifan.
No banquet is complete without social drinking. As the hotel manager, Ji Xiaocheng had to raise a few glasses with political and business elites, which was also the reason for President Ji's stomach issues.
However, today was different; all the toasts at the banquet were taken care of by Mi Li.
In truth, her alcohol tolerance was quite average, but because she was concerned about Qi Qifan's stomach, she chose to suffer instead.
By the end of the banquet, Mi Li was completely drunk.
Her face flushed red as she silly smiled and hugged Ji Xiaocheng, slurring, "You know? I liked you the first time I saw you."
He paused for a moment before replying, "I know; you said that before!"
"You don't know! That day when you fainted from stomach cramps in the underground garage, it was I who performed CPR on you, and I took you to the hospital."
Mi Li traced his brows and eyes with her finger, her intoxication evident. "You were lying on the ground, pale and in pain. It broke my heart to see you like that; even in your sickly state, you looked so charming. I won't tell you that CPR was my first kiss."
The entire garden was left with just the two of them. Mi Li chattered on about many things while Ji Xiaocheng held her close and listened quietly, occasionally responding to her.
The moonlight spilled onto his face, and for the first time in his life, he felt the gentleness of the moonlight. The scent of alcohol filled his nostrils, and the sound of a woman's continuous murmuring surrounded him, yet his mood soared.
In the hazy moonlight, the man leaned down to seal the woman's tender cherry-red lips with his own. The fragrance of wine spread between their lips, and on the ground lay the reflection of their embrace, beautiful and dreamlike.
