The next day, Mi Li had no recollection of what happened after getting drunk. She asked President Ji, but he remained tight-lipped.
He kept avoiding her gaze, talking about trivial matters. When she mentioned that he had made her angry, he would adopt a domineering attitude, insisting that she not inquire further about the matter.
Mi Li felt as if she had missed out on something thrilling and heart-fluttering. She wanted to know every detail of what happened that day with Ji Xiaocheng.
However, before she could uncover the truth, the hotel welcomed the esteemed food critic Pan Wei.
Pan Wei came to dine at the hotel's Western restaurant, and afterward, he would write a review to recommend Ceres' chef and cuisine.
Due to Pan Wei's significant influence in the culinary industry, Ji Xiaocheng took him very seriously and personally went to greet him.
Mi Li was responsible for supervising the chefs in the kitchen until all the dishes were served. Only when the last dessert was left did she finally relax.
As she left the kitchen, she spotted a suspicious figure around the corner tossing something into a trash bin.
She approached to take a look and found it was a piece of Tiramisu. Her heart sank, and she hurried toward the Western restaurant.
A waiter was just placing the dessert on Pan Wei's table when Ji Xiaocheng noticed Mi Li's flustered demeanor and grew suspicious. She quickly snatched the plate: "Mr. Pan, I heard you don't like sweet foods. Let me replace it with a savory Crepe for you."
Pan Wei was extremely perceptive: "Is there a problem with the Tiramisu?"
Mi Li forced a smile and replied, "How could that be! The quality of our hotel's food is absolutely top-notch."
Saying this, Mi Li grinned widely. To prove to Pan Wei that the cake was fine, she grabbed the Tiramisu and stuffed it into her mouth, swallowing it hastily, nearly choking on the spot.
She pounded her chest, with coffee grounds smeared all over the corners of her mouth, looking utterly ridiculous as she laughed.
Pan Wei couldn't help but chuckle and shook his hand in agreement to switch to Savory Crepe.
After dealing with the dessert issue, Mi Li rushed to the restroom, desperately gagging over the toilet, trying to throw up the Tiramisu she had just eaten.
"You better tell me what happened!"
Ji Xiaocheng's sharp voice rang out from behind her. Mi Li turned around in surprise, "How did you get into the women's restroom?"
President Ji didn't say much; he simply locked the restroom door and pushed Mi Li against it. "Tell me, what's wrong with the Tiramisu?"
Mi Li felt like crying; she hadn't managed to throw up and was now pinned against the wall. Although she was quite willing, could they not find a more romantic place for this?
After listening to Mi Li's explanation, Ji Xiaocheng's face turned sour beyond measure. "How could you eat it? What if someone poisoned it? Are you trying to get yourself killed?"
Mi Li pointed at her fingers in grievance. "I didn't want to! It was Pan Wei who got suspicious. If I didn't eat it in front of him, he might write something random on Weibo. If something happens at the hotel, you'll be held accountable by the group. I'm just trying to protect your reputation."
Ji Xiaocheng closed his eyes in pain and pulled Mi Li into his arms. "Silly girl, I'll take you to the hospital for a gastric lavage."
"No, I hate hospitals the most; just making myself throw up is enough."
As soon as the words of bravado left her mouth, Mi Li felt a sharp cramp in her stomach, and the objects around her began to sway, causing the world to spin uncontrollably.
Ji Xiaocheng was so frightened that he quickly picked her up and ran wildly, beads of sweat forming on his forehead. For the first time, he was truly afraid of losing someone.
She must not be in any danger; the road ahead is still long, and he needs her to walk with him.
